Just 2 points ahead of Mayuri - along comes the only other captain who at least tries to be mildly fashionable

No, it seems I do not

Though I do still find him to be one of the better [top 5] characters in this manga

I love his dual zanpakuto - his shikai abilities are awesome. There is a real risk/reward style to his power - which makes his fights exciting to watch
- even if I [as I said] am not a fan of his Bankai

He is also one of the few captains I'd actually feel comfortable hanging around with, in the real world
He likes women, drink, relaxing - all fine things to like, if you ask me

I mentioned my love for the music in Bleach, earlier. That scene with Chad, and the music... epic
All that build-up as Chad dashes towards Kyouraku... and Kyouraku dashes his hopes, in style - showing why captains are to be feared

He also doesn't see the need for mindless violence - leaving Chad alone, following his 'lesson', and going so far as to get him medical attention

When him and Ukitake first squared off against Yamamoto, it was epic.
Then he goes and takes his VC to a safe place, before returning to fight...

... now that scene, from them arriving 'far away' and Yamamoto already being there, all the way to Ukitake and Kyouraku speaking their releases...
That is how you should display power in a manga

It doesn't always need to be demonstrated, the suggestion and timing of those scenes was more than enough to demonstrate that these 3 are far above all the other captains in the Gotei 13 (well... that was before Aizen reveal, etc.)

It was a shame that he kept on being put against ranged characters - but whatever
His battles were always enjoyable, even when put up against such shitty characters as one-eye sniper mc angel-face

I have the feeling he was one of Kubo's favourites - and the extra attention and time that he recieved in the manga really showed

Does he suffer from the usual Kubo faults? Sure
But is he worthy of being in the top 10? Most certainly

To say I'm gutted would be an understatement. Yet again, has my 10pointer fallen short of glory.

His pink kimono alone should've gotten him to the top spot, if not then his hairy chest surely should've done so.

Kyoraku was my avatar for quite a while. Really love that design. And the aloof swordsman thing in a largely samurai themed manga is pretty hard not to enjoy.

Never really cared for his role in the story after Yamamoto's extremely unfortunate passing. Kubo was trying to show a him maturing into a responsible person I guess. But it just never suited him as much. At his best he felt like a Gintama character. Also loved his Shikai. With the kids games. It was a very weird ability but Kubo made it looked great and made his fight with Stark highly entertaining.

Ah Gin, such a mystery till the end. The very end (that scene with Rangiku really hit me ). He had mines of patience, if he was able to go so far and wait for so long just to get revenge for someone he cared (maybe loved - I sincerely hope so). I like the fact, that nothing was ever said straight and clear in his case. Too bad he didn't open his eyes more ofter, they have beautiful color

Ulquiorra's got a lot of spotlight in the story and I'm glad of it. Everytime he appeared I've felt like the temperature drops. Such a quiet threat, but when he was forced to fight, he put up a good performance imo. And had one of the best death scene in the series (and it's all thanks to Orihime, what an irony ).

Mayuri is love or hate type of character, but he sure is an interesting one. Ofc his actions are veeeery questionable, but I can't say he's not a colorful figure (and I'm not talking about his physical appearance here). And he's not some shady guy, he openly says what he's doing and feel no shame for it.

And Kyoraku's in top 3? Wow, I've put him on my list, but I didn't expect him so high. Every shounen series needs that guy, who looks and talks goofy, but in fact is a damn monster and shows it when needed. Iirc his Shikai's abilities were children's play, so it suits him greatly. And that entrance with flower petals was so stylish... and funny, when Nanao-chan run out of patience

Yup, he obviously had a form of the Bankai manifestation tech that Urahara had given he could turn Zabimaru into a woman. Toss Zaraki in the lab and let Mayuri go at it.

I loathed the fact that he lost his eye. Who was it to again? and why couldn't he heal it back? with all the science shit Mayuri does. Sure, it would've come at a price (Mayuri likely providing an artificial eye that is essentially surveillance ) but it'd have been funny. Eye-patch ruined his aesthetic.
