About the series:
In the world where the taste and texture of food are very important, there is Toriko, a hunter of precious foods regularly hired by restaurants and the rich. He's a man with the inhuman skills necessary to capture the ferocious, evasive, and rare animals to complete his ultimate dinner course! His current accomplice is a weak, timid person who was inspired by Toriko's greatness and accompanies him on all his journeys on his quest for the course of his life

Toriko is not only supposedly getting two covers in a row, but already has a place on the Jump website when Reborn or Psyren don't have one yet. Jump really seems to be putting a lot into the newcomers this time around. This is a good thing in my opinion. I wanna read Toriko. Anybody interested in Editing it?

That doesn't say anything. Volume sells and good ToC places determine wether a serie survives. Toriko will be protected for 8 issues (8 chapters) and then we'll see.
Well reborn is on that site and I think the webbie has mistaken kuzumi of mx0 for ageha of psyren

I think the editors are going to take care of the new series for a while unless they really start sucking. It's a shame Usagi and Sket are getting shafted now.

It's not really a comedy manga. There's funny parts. Surprisingly, it's more of an action manga. Toriko basically fights and defeats large beasts to be sold as food. It's very interesting. I like it a lot so far. I look forward for the upcoming search for the rainbow fruit. What's not to love about a buff man fighting six armed gorillas? =P

Is there anywhere I can read this? I've been out of the Jump loop for a few weeks (since this and Togashi began, essentially) and while One Manga has Togashi it doesn't have Toriko; and in the Edited Manga forum Chapter 6 is posted but none others. Can anyone give me a pointer?

Edit: scratch that, I'm good.

Second edit: based on the first two chapters, this series is fantastic! Hilarious, original, and utterly charming. It reminds me, of course, of Luffy's appetite, but a whole manga based on this concept is like a dream come true. Can't wait to read the next four - will of course report back when I do...

I caught up to chapter 9 yesterday and man, this manga is superb. Funny, clever, charming, with really attractive character and monster designs and especially backgrounds, plus an excellent premise... if it keeps on going like this there's no way it can go wrong. In fact, I think it can only get better.

I like it because it's a fun simple plot. "Super strong guy fights monsters to eat them." And it's well written so it works perfectly.

Even 9 is scanlated and they are in the RTS threads; just dled them because bakaupdates listed the Edited Mangas only up to to 6, so I didn't know they were out

Oaky, i've reread the first 9 chapters, and have reached an obvious conclusion.

The series IS a comedy. when it's not going for straight laced jokes with a sense of ironic unfunniness, the series is a parody of so many 80s manga, and is aware of how overpowered toriko is, in a homage to older series taht pulled off the same thing with a straight face.


but it's still not that good.
