Seems like Rei was perfectly fine with being... "basic" as you say. No alternative crossed his basic little mind after Baam said 'no' and he had prepared for such a contengency via holding leverage/hostages over him. Or so he thought at least. One (Jinsung) even served himself on a platter right before Rei to do with as he wished. Rei was quick to say his authority to kill those Baam holds dear and use FORCE over Baam to get him to comply is his right as a god-like being. I guess he was just full of shit and out of ideas, hmm?
