I'd like to discuss the effects of the two training camps a bit and in which ways they differ. Since we have some data on each side now (5th court for the U17 Camp, Momoshiro's anime stats for the mountain camp), it should be possible to get a general idea regarding those matters.

Starting with the mountain training, Momoshiro's stats were
Power: 4
Speed: 3
Technique: 2
Stamina: 3
Mental: 3

at the beginning. We've seen noteable increases in Power (JK -> BJK) and Speed (catching up to Bakyuun) in his case.

On the other hand, if we look at someone like Atobe, his main boost seems to be Speed, a stat he wasn't too great in before.

What I'm currently theorizing is that the mountain camp focuses more on already existing strengths, whereas the camp tries to fix a player's weaknesses... this would follow the different philosophies that seem to exist between the coaches as well.

Anyone with more ideas or observations on this matter?

I was just thinking this yesterday. Especially since the U-17 has the mental coach to help players focus their concentration, while the mountain training doesn't.

I'd say in camp trainers try to make players more balanced while in the mountain training to focus on player's strong points.

At the U-17 camp the players are being trained in a traditional way. They are following a set schedule and a specific exercise routine. They are running, stretching, crunching, so they are focusing on specific muscles, one muscle group at a time, and in improving stamina. They spend less time on mental training and focus more on their physical strengths.
While the players in the mountain are training to improve their physical straights by doing a variety of nontraditional exercise routines that will improve all their muscles all at once because of time constraints (They only had 3 days to train correct?). They want to improve as quickly as possible so that they can prove that they are worthy to participate in the U-17 tournaments. Plus, I do think the mountain coach is training their mental strengths by making them solve puzzles; the vultures and balloon one, for example. Then, they have to learn how to work together as a team by building a strong camaraderie in doing certain tasks together (like stealing alcohol for example).
So yeah, the camp site focuses more on building physical strength, while the mountain training camp focuses more on their inner straights in working as a team, boosting confidence and being mentally prepared to face the worst (while at the same time improving the players physically).

In a way, the Mountain Training is more like a hyperbolic time chamber and the U-17 Camp is a lot more like normal practice. When Tanishi, Echizen, and Kenya went to go steal the sake, they gained things that couldn't normally be gained. Kenya had terrible balance, but through that training, he was able to fix his balance. How exactly he could play tennis without good balance, I don't know, but...

All of the players gained the ability to see through irregular bounces on the court, even if they weren't that skilled, solely by following through with the Mountain Training.

In terms of value, I put it as this: Matches against equal/better competition > Mountain Training, U-17 Camp.

The U-17 improves your entire abilities, while the Mountain training improves the strong points and some weaknesses way more faster than the U-17 camp, I think that Mountain training is a great way to quickly improve your strong points, and U-17 camp improves you overall but slower than Mountain training.

Also, the 8 previous players of the 2nd court were beaten by 8 middle schoolers who went to train. The 5th court against the 3rd court ended 3-2, with players like Shiraishi, Kirihara, Tezuka and Atobe having trouble in their matches. Irie could have won if he wanted to and the 5th court would be in the same spot. The losers defeated the eight players from the 2nd court who are better overall than the 3rd court players except Irie, so Mountain training > U-17 camp training.

I think Mountain training trains you at a lot faster rate. U-17 training allows you (some high tier characters) to go equal with 3rd court, which got stomped by 1st stringer. While mountain training allows some characters that consider mid to low tier to be fighting those 1st stringer.

By the way, I think Konomi probably to give the boost to those under U-17 training WITHOUT any explanation. We'll be seeing them go match to match with the 1st stringer.

Also, Mountain training pushes you to your limits and, altough the U-17 camp training is difficult, the Mountain training is even harder, some of the missions can go to hell, they are almost impossible.

I think the mountain training is good for the short term, but in the long term the regular camp training would be better. Over a couple of weeks, you would see a lot more results in the mountain training (as we saw with the losers), but over several months the results for mountain training wouldn't necessarily increase at the same rate as the training camp would. So, it's a good place to go for a short amount of time.

Its obviously better in the long term since the Mountain traingng lasted like 2 days.

I really agree, if the mountain training was really superior I feel that everyone would be sent there from the beginning. Rather, I think you get sent to the mountain if you have potential that you aren't living up to and need rapid development to draw up to the level of the top players, and then you are sent back to the camp to round out the rest of your abilities

Then the Mountain training strengthens your strong points while the U-17 Camp increases your abilities overall.

I'm waiting to see the MEMO of a player that has all his stats maximized, that would be ridiculous.
