Vato Locos attempt at cleaning.

This is my first ever attempt at cleaning. In order to do it I followed Shinwei's cleaners compendium, excluding a few steps.

Note 1: Since I followed the cleaners compendium I used the wand to clean the white area outside the frames and this removed the black area that other groups leave behind and blacken when blackening the blacks.

Note 2: I excluded steps 8 (adding a layer for the grays) as when I tried it the entire area was grayed instead of the selection.

Note 3: I also excluded step 9 (cleaning the whites/adding blur) because I had already taken a long time as it was (half a day on one page, and I do mean a full 12 hours). I also could not blur correctly and it just messed up the picture with the filter on.

So with that in mind could you please rate my first attempt at cleaning/give some constructive criticism and pointers. Maybe some help on faster scans. I hope to be able to help out the OP community with cleaning raws and some day help put out faster MQ Edited Mangas, as there seems to be a shortage of OP groups.

P.S. : I used Yoniekais scan of this chapter (437) as a reference point, so much props/thanks to him.

Hello good begining here. You definatly improved the original image and made a mostly MQ clean. The first thing I notice is that the page is not straightened properly. You should rotate the page so that the right border edges (in the case of this page), are mostly straight. This will help your page a great deal. It will also help your border edges look better. Personally now that I learned how to do it I prefer to have no anti-alias on my straight border edges. It is also better to save your images as .png since .jpg compression adds more artifacts. Just doing those three things and fixing these next few things will bring your page to a full MQ status.

Panel 1 on the bottom middle where the border meets the shirt the black is not completely filled in.
Panel 2 the right side of the text bubble is to thick and a little funny looking.
Panel 6
a. The original right border plus drawing remains you either need to adjust your new border to not overlap into the panel or erase the original border and extra drawing.
b. The black border around the SFX text shares a line edge with the text bubble and the black should be filled in to meet the text bubble line edge.
c. The bottom of the double text bubble has been stroked and it should not be.

Edit: I also just noticed that the borders on your top two panels are not lined up. The borders on the original raw were lined up.

Ahh ok, thanks for the help.

Also, I just went back to check about that frame. Apparently when I went to do the frame outlines I did not outline that frame correctly, and when I did the magic wand clean it also got rid of the original border. Thanks for pointing that out.

Bueno, es que ai unas circumstancias orita que no dejan personas contar en mi. Nada mas tenemos una computadora en la casa y nadamas puedo estar en ella des de que me despierte asta las 5 de la tarde. y despues se pone mi hermana. Orita estoi en ella por que mi familia salio a comer. Entonses orita estoy tomando este tiempo para aprender como limpiar bien, y alamejor my familia me va a comprar una laptop por la navidad, por que estoi en collehio. Y tambien no se como ablar japanese, asi que voi a necesitar una translasion, o me voi a tener que meter me en un grupo.

Yer. Hopefully if all goes well (and I manage to figure out how to do the Grey fading in challenge 2, that really looks tough. ) I'll be able to do a full chapter scan (or at least try) by 439. 440 at the latest.

Lol. I plan on trying it, once I'm done with challenge 2 and 3. Also, I think this was an Ok attempt for my first venture into cleaning and Photoshop (that's right, when I say I'm a photoshop n00b, I mean it ). If you want a challenge, try 2, if it's anything it's time consuming.
