I think Cipher's improved a lot since around ch 20.

At first it felt like the manga as a whole was just an excuse for Nisio to show off his hobby but since ~ch 20 he seems to have actually remembered to make it a real story with proper characters and drama and twists and now it's a lot more enjoyable. Early on you had to be engaging with the puzzles themselves to get any entertainment out of it, but now it's a genuinely fun 'battle of wits' type series with the puzzles being the connecting thread for the characters to interact and compete.

Exactly! Like you said, the manga feels like just an excuse for him to show off. And that's really pissing me off.

I haven't read that far to chapter 20 yet. Maybe my opinion on CA will change after that. But my view on CA early chapters will not change.

I'm a fairly big Nisio fan so obviosuly that colors my perspective, but I do agree that Tirakai that the character writing has improved over time, especially with it being given more time to breath (murder mystery was waaaay to short.) That being said I have never really had a problem with the methods of the puzzles. I've never solved them, but I'm someone who loves seeing people explain their solutions so thats a real hook for the series for me. It's not about Nisio showing off how smart he is, its him giving the audience a cool puzzle he found/thought up.

So it's moving after all. What's Jump GIGA's schedule these days anyway? Quarterly?

I wonder how long it'll be there for, the series definitely isn't at a point where it can end in one chapter. Jump GIGA's mostly a magazine for oneshots and miniseries, but perhaps they'll just keep Black Clover in there as a quarterly series or whatever so that there's always something well known to draw people in.

Also I guess that partly answers the question of how they're going to make space, if Black Clover's leaving then they'll only have to cancel the two series to leave room for two new ones (could still see Tenmaku die though if they go for a round of 3).

Black Clover is transferring to Jump GIGA (Every three months) after Chapter 368.
Honestly, i'm fine with, Tabata is clearly struggling with his personal life because of his wife health and etc, in GIGA he will have the time to draw, we will have giant chapters and with probably color pages, it's a win-win situation to be honest, it's just a bit bittersweet because i think everybody including Tabata wanted to finish it in WSJ :noworry

I hope this move is good for Tabata's health. I like Black Clover, but I can tell from Tabata's comments that he was really struggling to keep up with the deadlines. But even at that, I still question on what it means for the longevity of the series, how many chapters will he give, when will it end, and will it be satisfactory? He still has the final fights in this final arc and of course the final boss in Lucius. And even though it was near the back of the magazine it wasn't enough to say, "yeah it's not doing enough so out you go." Even in the ToC this week it wasn't in the back but in the middle. I hope we do get some answers as to why this move. Even though the wait for chapters will be longer given how we get 3-4 issues of Giga, I hope they are good.

damn, 3 months is a long time between chapters. Knowing me, I'll probably forget the series exists and pick it back up when it ends.

The move is blatantly obvious, Tabata can't keep up anymore with the weekly schedule and having to take care of his wife and daughter at the moment, so far there's no detail besides moving to GIGA, maybe it will be like Gintama having 3 chapters there and moving again, maybe to JumpSQ.

Black Clover living forever at this rate lol

Also, with BC moving in Issue 38, I imagine we'll only see F100 and Do Retry ending now. TC and IHG for the batch after

Now we just need MHA and JJK to end so Yozafam can quietly become the second longest ongoing Jump series lol (hxh doesn’t count).

Wow, I don't think anybody expected that. I don't read BC but it'll definitely feel weird not to have it there. Best of luck to Tabata.

Oh for sure, I was also aware of Tabata's health, his wife, his daughter, and his dog from those earlier comments. We'll see how the move goes, but in the mean time lets give Tabata our love for what he did for WSJ for the last 8 years and continue to support him on finishing Black Clover.

Don't worry, with the stage play and the rumors of the anime returning (probably for the Spade Kingdom Invasion arc), I think the series will still be in the public's mind.

WSJ Issue 38 Cover
Now all we need is the preview to know what will be promoted in issue 39. But other than that great cover.
