There's no rush to post the predictions guys, think calmly about what y'all want to predict and post.
Not rushing, just that I wrote up my predictions last week lol
2025 WSJ predictions
One Piece: Still in Elbaf by end of year, new movie announcement (assuming that doesn’t already happen at Jump Festa). Oda takes another ~month long break that has nothing to do with his health. We still net around 30 chapters for the year.
Hunter x Hunter: Togashi takes another months-long break but comes back by the end of the year with another group of chapters, anime return still nowhere in sight
Yozakura Family: ends (duh), just barely misses out on having more chapters than JJK (265-270 range), S2 release date announced
Undead Unluck: ends either right at the 5 year anniversary or right at chapter 250, no inbetween; anime S2 announced to air after Fire Force anime ends in 2026 (might be announced in 2026 after the OVA airs though)
Roboco: Nothing changes, maybe S2 anime announced following the movie
Sakamoto Days: Lu does something for once (bold, I know), final arc kicks off, anime does okay but not as huge as people anticipated, easy season 2 announcement but no date given
Elusive Samurai: we make it to Takauji but still not over yet, 2nd season airdate revealed
Witch Watch: Nico starts to age faster or gets aged up suddenly by them having collected a ton to give to her at once behind the scenes, kicking off the final arc. Still not finished by end of year, anime makes minimal waves but isn’t bad
Blue Box: They kiss?? maybe?? finally?? Something significant happens with Kyo’s relationship progress, anime S2 confirmed immediately but not airing in 2025 (maybe a freebie)
Akane-banashi: some form of notable time-skip occurs (>1 year), anime gets confirmed for some time in 2026 (only because it’s the oldest wsj series with no anime announcement yet)
Ruridragon: just keeps existing. maybe we get a tease of her dad?
Kill Blue: No anime yet, and… I’ll bank on it surviving another year. Not confident in that but I feel like there’s a decent chance.
Nue’s Exorcist: Kinda same deal as Kill Blue, though I’ll say maybe the “final war” will kick off next year, since I don’t think this series will go longer than 150 chapters the way the pacing is right now.
Kagurabachi: It’ll keep growing and naturally even out at a certain point, we’ll see at least 1 of the other two normal swordmasters, and Hokazono will HOPEFULLY use the swordmasters as an opportunity to get some color diversity for the volume covers (ambitious request, I know…)
Chojo: …I want it to live but I’m gonna go ahead and say it gets axed, if only to mix it up. I think it’ll still hit the 1 year mark first, though.
Astro Royale: I’m gonna say it will end by the end of the year, but feel like a natural conclusion that wasn’t rushed.
Kiyoshi: This is a tricky one, but I’ll say it gets axed eventually, but the author will return with a new series that has the same charm but a different concept behind it (not really a this year prediction on that last one).
Hima-Ten: I’ll say it now, I think this one’s going the distance, if only cuz of it’s unique position as the sole exclusively romance series. I’m kinda apathetic as to whether it stays or goes but my bets are on them keeping it. At the very least it will survive 2025 just fine.
Ichi: Easy keeper. Will probably get at least 1 cover before it’s 1-year anniversary, and I predict the story will introduce “evil witches” in some form who are colluding with Majik’s in some way.
Shinobigoto: This one is tough… I’ll say it lasts a bit, but not a full year.
Hakutaku: dead before we hit spring.
Syd Craft: Far too early to say, but I’ll just plop a lazy “lasts just under a year” and see if that’s remotely accurate or not.
Additional adjacent things:
Black Clover: Manga finishes, anime return announced. I only feel safe saying that both cuz I heard the final battle started last set of 3 chapters (I’m anime only), and Pierrot will probably finish up Bleach TYBW in 2025 or Jan 2026, giving them room to do more stuff again.
Random 1: WSJ Snipes another author from a different mag, perhaps one from Sunday since they did Magazine with Wakui and Champion with Nishi last year?
Random 2: Another formerly successful artist returns (axed author returns are a given so this actually has a little bit of stakes)
