I definitely think the editor had a hand in MMYY’s failure. The editors seemed to be unable to identify Hayashi’s strengths, so they couldn’t guide him. I see some similarities between Hayashi and Horikoshi, imo. Both of them had massive untapped potential, but couldn’t figure out a way to click with readers yet early in their career. Their editors were aware of their hidden potential, but they didn’t know the best way to dig it out yet until they just told Horikoshi “Fuck it. Just write what you want”—which I hope Hayashi’s editor will do so as well.
That is an interesting theory. But honestly we don’t know that until we have a confirmation.

Looks like a September release. And not to jump to conclusions but it’s looking like a worldwide release which is a pleasant surprise

The theory that all three movies would come out this year, can be tossed out if this is only starting in September.

Surprised its posted so early, as there is no looming major anime convention here or in jpn until march.

All 3 movies coming out in one year was never gonna happen anyway. It would just eat into each one’s box office

CyberAgent has officially announced a subsidiary anime studio for anime production called "CA Soa" with the aim of "producing high quality anime for a global audience":

If Kagurabachi is really from Cybergames/CyberAgent maybe this will be the studio in charge.
Cipher Academy SOA? Huge.

Just read it. My goodness, this is dark. I don’t know if this can be published in WSJ as it feels like a senin. But then again, we did get Death Note. I do want this no doubt, but I need to know where this will go for a long form narrative.

This gives me akumetsu vibes, definitely will do well on jump plus or young jump or jump square though idk if success is impossible on main weekly shonen jump tbh.

As I said before, shirai has the style to go the ohba route and he did it well here. As long he stop overthinking and keep on building for execution,, he can make another hit. Very solid one-shot this is, but this one definitely fits a seinen magazine. Too political

Maybe it's too early in the morning for me, but I don't see any shonen jump representation.

Demon Slayer is one of the few series to get its own entire exhibit

But wasn’t Attack on Titan political as well for it being a Shonen? Even for series like One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, and Naruto with their wars and politics?

You right. I meant more so because Apple is more realistic portrayed. People see AOT easily more as political than one piece, simply of the aesthetic. But you right,,

I get it, it does feel realistic, but the God Spring is supernatural, oh and the tattoos.

The content isn't that dark, not any darker than KGB and its body piles. But I think this will be hard to turn into a series.

I couldnt expect anything less from TPN author, but the end of it really gave me a vibe that they could maybe make this into a whole series

Hayashi's new One Shot (MamaYuyu Author)

Interesting one shot, i was checking it and started to think about wanting to see Shonen Jump make some experiment, why not just greenlight a series like this? Basically a "soft seinen" but no action, the kind of stuff you see in magazines like Afternoon, it would be interesting to see the readers reaction, the worst thing it can happen is to get axed.

Apple OneShot translated
Pretty cool one shot, Amano Youichi art is as good as ever, i would like to see this being serialized, i don't think this is "ohh too violent for Jump", it doesn't feel like a seinen to me, just a dark shounen, and most of the readers on Jump right now are young adults anyway.

Updating both lists of best 1st week & 1st Shoseki day:

BEST 1ST WEEK SALES FOR VOLUME 1 (ORICON & SHOSEKI)

The source of the data is either Oricon or the Shoseki estimations, the order of the ranking it's obviously by which series sold more independent if X series sold a bit more than Y series just because it had more days.

Important to remember, any series that had the first volume released before Oricon started tracking in 2008 or Shoseki started to provide numbers in 2013 will not be in the ranking.

And before the ranking, the meaning of the colors:

Blue: Publishing or in hiatus
Green: Long running or ended on it's own
Purple: Canceled but survived for longer than expected, at least 40 chapters, or had a continuation in other platform
Red: Straight up canceled, some might have survived a bit longer but like 1 round at best
