Decided to start Naruto over the holidays since I was ill and I just managed to finish the first part. Pretty awesome series so far, and way better than I expected. The fact the second part is damn near double the length of the first is crazy daunting though. Like, you gotta wonder sometimes how some mangaka and their assistants manage to write for and draw some of these pages weekly for well over a decade. All the shadow clone pages make my wrist hurt.

Puts into perspective just how impressive 20k in 2 days really is. Also yeah, Shinobi is a toss up as far as rankings go but for what its worth, I'd say in spite of stock limitation it pulled off a decently impressive showing. Hopefully Shueshia give it a little breathing room and it grows past the debut volume; I could see it getting strong support in the long term, if only they let it. Maybe that's just me coping though for a series I enjoy.

Interesting one shot, i was checking it and started to think about wanting to see Shonen Jump make some experiment, why not just greenlight a series like this? Basically a "soft seinen" but no action, the kind of stuff you see in magazines like Afternoon, it would be interesting to see the readers reaction, the worst thing it can happen is to get axed.



Pretty cool one shot, Amano Youichi art is as good as ever, i would like to see this being serialized, i don't think this is "ohh too violent for Jump", it doesn't feel like a seinen to me, just a dark shounen, and most of the readers on Jump right now are young adults anyway.

Surprise of the century, Sakamoto has pretty okay action animation. Not sure if I'd call it average or even above but certainly better than what the trailers and opening led me to believe. A shame, then, that most of it is bogged down by a dull comp and ugly colour design. Whatever chicken scratch filter they have on the characters, they could just as easily do without. It made the whole scene with Shin fighting in the store look awful. Bright side, though. I really enjoyed the OST.
