lol Come on guys Akane is probably the most glazed series in this thread, every week is basically "the best chapter ever" and gets 1st or 2nd place in the votings and etc

It's not glazing, it's reality. Suenaga and Moue are creating the most solid manga of the entire Jump current roster so far with an art and narrative that outshines the competition. Only thing Akane needs now is that ultra-late anime announcement.

I’ve been active for less than a year while still mostly roaming the thread and I still managed to get into the TOP 50.

I was initially going to refute the "ultra-late" part (not the glazing part, peak is peak after all) by saying that if anything it's still pretty early for an anime announcement for Akane, but as I looked back through the data it seems for all the current gen stuff that has anime the anime was initially announced anywhere between chapter 100-160 and then came out around 30-60 chapters later. So I guess given where it is now, it would make perfect sense to announce an anime for Akane any time in the next few months, and could still have it air around Fall '25. Absolute worst case scenario (say, announcement 170 chapters in and wait 60 chapters), the anime would be announced this year in summer and air in Fall of '26.

It does seem like the big hit battle shonens tend to get confirmation faster from what little data I scraped; MHA for example had the anime confirmed before chapter 70 and coming out by chapter 85, and likewise chatpers 85 and 128 for JJK. So depending on how "hot stuff" WSJ considers Kagurabachi it might not actually be crazy to say it gets an anime confirmed this year, something which I did not think I would be saying 2 hours ago. (And yes I'm sure that's also going to spur the question "well when is Nue getting one then", honestly I'd figure that gets treated more like a typical series so I still have no idea which of the two would end up getting an anime confirmed first, only that I feel like Akane would get one confirmed before either of them. At least I hope so.)

This was all from me just looking at color pages with anime announcements and comparing chapter numbers, so maybe some janky number crunching on my end, but I thought it was interesting to look at.

We can see clearly from here this’ll spur Kiroku to start his own school and take the kids with him, and our other friend will be the de facto Miroku instead (perhaps something he’s still burdened by, that he was a backup or something). Also I missed the part where Urara went from being a random civilian to working in the rakugo sphere? Maybe that’s on me.

No this is the first we’ve learned about Urara being a fairly normal girl.

The only other info we got of her past before Rakugo was how her pure sensuality made her future master immediately decide that she would be the one to inherit his art.

I know but pretty sure this will be just another "multimedia" short series for him, it would be great if he could get a original one on Jump again.

How? Akane Banashi has an actual healthy fanbase in Japan and it should get an easy boost similar to the TES one.

Being realistic, it's too niche like Hinomaru Zumo, it doesn't have fujobait for the girls or cute girls for the male audience, TES was able to have a moment due to the shota mc going viral and amazing animation but still just managed to recover a bit of the lost sales, it's nothing impossible obviously but easier to just imagine the series getting a small boost.
