I know but it always had the "romcom" tag and the premise made it clear it was morr about the mc finding love instead of a full detective series.
Tag? Where? I'm reading it on the M+ website and they don't have tags.

Like I said, I don't mind the series as it is now. But your assumption that "I don't think anyone is really reading Syd Craft for the detective stuff and deaths" is wrong, there are definitely people for whom that is the main reason.

Wasted potential tbh but I didnt really expect that much mystery from the author of we never learn. Mixed genre romcoms like this will always lean more for the romance instead of the other thing. For example: Blue box is marketed as a sports/romance series but the sports aspect of that is lacking.

But man, I would die for a GOOD mystery manga from jump cause the last one we got is ichinose family and that got confusing real quick

The very first line of the very first chapter is "What is a great detective?" and the first page shows a guy in full Sherlock Holmes attire and a bunch of Cluedo props. Gee, I wonder why anyone might expect this manga to have something to do with detectives? It's a mystery! 🧐

Not everyone reads the biography of the author before picking up a new manga.

And I'm not complaining about the romance/ecchi elements. I can tolerate them just fine. But they are not what I read the manga for, and if the detective stuff were to disappear completely, I would drop the series because there wouldn't be anything left to hold my interest.
I mean I knew going into it it'd have romcom elements but I expected the mystery stuff to be closer to Case Closed (which has romcom elements sometimes!) with a romcom angle, but this is a harem manga with a fake detective skin which really sucks!

It's on a different level though. Syd does solve cases and we watch him do it from beginning to end. I don't think we've ever seen a full sports match in Blue Box, that mixed doubles amateur thing in the latest chapters was probably the closest.

Right? Give us more mysteries! Jump is really lacking in that.

I'd even take another exorcist series where they have to figure out what happened to exorcise the ghost. Something like
Psychic Detective Yakumo or Kako and the False Detective. I really liked that last one, shame it was short.

- Kagurabachi debuting with 100k and beating Blue Box and Sakamoto is great to see keeps growing slowly
-Yozazfam FINALLY debuting with 30k what a way to end the run!
- Astro Royale declines again not good
-Shinobi doing fine and could be closing on Astro by volume 3
- Ichi the Witch outselling its volume 1 entire month with just 6 days is just crazy, love to see it!

I wish Syd would at least try to tell a serious story, to see how it works out. It's had significant crimes like murder and even terrorist bombing but everything's treated as a joke so it all just ends up being an excuse for harem shenanigans or fanservice. Which makes the detective side feel wasted, as if it's only there to give the girls cute outfits.

Himaten by comparison is literally a pure romcom, not a mix of genres at all, but it's perfectly able to have serious scenes furthering the romance and character development when it matters which makes it a lot more engaging as a series since there's things to be invested in and look forward to.

If Wakui still wants to stay in WSJ after Astro gets the axe, I will still support him even when I hate this magazine so much

but it was fun until it lasted, even after this week chapter that seems so good

He got axed in WSM, right after another axe but he didn't give up so I don't think he will in WSJ, especially when WSJ was the magazine he wanted to be a part of in the first place.

Well, at least Astro lived until Yokohama where the tournament arc curse aside, has been great

We still gotta see hibaru fighting shio the main villain, so there’s still a little more for us to enjoy

I mean, if it's any better, volume 3 was 5 days, not 6?

You love to see that Shinobi growth though, doing what volume 1 did in a month in 6 days, nice to see a series other than Ichi see some growth.

That Sakamoto number is worse than I thought, I thought the first week would get to 80K, but that's below what volume 16 did in 4 days (which did 117K in a month). Assuming it holds about as well as that, this has the possibility to have worse volume-over-volume growth than Mashle s1 (an even bigger flop adaptation).

Nah, they should do what they did with Ichinose and cancel it one issue before its anniversary. I say this but it'll still probably do Kill Blue numbers (which is still bad considering it's on volume 4) so who knows.

Gimme the Build King mid-arc cancellation, real spicy stuff. Yeah, you can go ahead and finish the story in the volumes, whatever. But just kill it while everyone thinks it's still going, that'll really set everyone's butts on fire.
