Make the Exorcist Fall in Love over on Jump+ has heavy catholic theming, that's probably as close as your going to get to seeing it in Jump.
There's so many Catholic-inspired/themed manga in Jump.

Bleach very famously so — Yhwach mainly in the final arc via his role and backstory.

JoJo technically counts, even if it's in Part 7 mainly.

And the most explicit one that's directly utilizing the Catholic Order structure was D-Gray Man. Obviously, this one also transferred later on, so the Pope character whenever he appears will specifically not be referenced in a main Jump title any time soon.

Not saying it's impossible but they have to put every bit of passion and skill to pull it off. (Which most studios don't wanna sacrifice)
But Punpun and Vagabond don't have anime? Maybe I'm misreading or something.

Just writing some thoughts about how Jump "raises" mangaka. Trains mangaka? Well, you understand me.

There was Jump school, but last time I checked, there was no 4th or 5th time and the last one was in 2022? I'd like to know how many mangaka from this program got a series...

There is a post on the Jump mangasho account on Twitter about classes for "kenkyuusei" ("research students") having signed an exclusivity (?) contract with Jump. 79 of them. I'd like to know how many kenkyuusei from previous years got a series...

What I mean is that Jump DOES a lot of things to train mangaka, but I don't see the results clearly... I mean, Jump would say each time: "this new author is from our training program!" to do marketing and raise their brand value (something like an exclusive club), right? I don't see it...

I would like statistics. I would love statistics about it... :emocat

(feel free to ignore)

I would like the same thing. I would also like a training program for editors as well.

Hey everyone, good news, Jun Kirarazaka’s one-shot, “The Ninjas”. Has been translated.

--- Double Post Merged, ---

Okay, well that was a one-shot. A part of me has been reminded of certain cartoons that went overboard in absurdity like in Dexter’s Lab with Dexter and DeeDee where they messed around with Dexters animal transformation invention. And with CatDog’s short where Cat was calling back in a contest while Dog was dragging Cat to chase after a tennis ball. The pacing and the humor worked in the beginning up to a certain point and then it drags. I have questions about this ninja association. But I prefer the one in Shinobi Undercover cause at least the pacing and humor could be at my level. But at least this is better than Bone Collection and Do Retry.

Have you read Dragon x Chameleon? From a former Jump mangaka Ishiyama Ryou. Lots of really cool "inside Baseball" stuff about the industry as it's obvious he's incorporated a lot of his own experiences into the series. There's an arc that is specifically about a "Jump school" type program that's also a livestreamed reality show. Would be so cool to see them do all that irl.

So what is everyone’s thoughts on Gokuraku in Ichi the Witch?
I wish he would become the 2nd male witch but it seems that Ichi will be getting his 5th Majik which imo is too many so soon. They haven't really fleshed out his original 3 and it seems he's going to end this arc with 2 more.

Back to Gokuraku. I feel for the guy, he is the only one who could see through the bs and realized that the majik wasn't actually helping the people deal with their issues. He's certainly not my favorite character but might just be the best character in the series so far and has room to grow. He's definitely the new companion the prophecy Majik was talking about.

Who is Ikeguchi? Roboco's former editor?
No that was Sugita.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Ikeguchi is a new editor. Started back in 2023. He never launched a title and was under Murakoshi before being under Sugita. He got an artist transferred to him as his first hands on experience being Numa of Super Psychic Policeman Chojo. Which makes Ikeguchi Numa’s second editor of Chojo. And since Murakoshi was the editor who launched Hima-Ten!, it is being handed down to Ikeguchi. So I guess Murakoshi is going to be in charge of Otr of the Flame.

Yeah, I like Gokuraku too. Surprised on knowing his character. But honestly his design is amazing. I mean he is attractive. I’m straight and he definitely will make me say that he is hot.

I definitely know that last comment will give Dongus a lot of material to work with to make a joke.

But Punpun and Vagabond don't have anime? Maybe I'm misreading or something.
I was reacting to this from him

The anime for Kagurabachi will be tricky. If they can't be at the needed level of "Wouah!!", then it will flop like Sakamoto.

I have read a comment a long time ago that says: "too beautiful manga make bad anime" or something like that, meaning that manga that sell for their art/panelling etc are very hard to put into anime without losing all the style.

The 3 I mentioned are very high regarded in the manga space. Beserk 2d version is debetable, but the other 2 is something they have to make it perfect.

Sakamoto was some S-tier difficulty level of animation, on top of it every battle has cool art and no plot to show for it. It's like solo levelling with even less plot

Comparing kagurabachi to those is so stupid lol.

Just because kagurabachi has some cool shots does not make it hard to animate lol.

The anime does not have to be amazing to succeed.

Given how well the Iruma spin-off did last year, I get the feeling somehow it's already curtains for any series not named 'Ichi the Witch.'
Or, who knows, maybe all the latent magazine voters will crawl out of the woodwork and push Kiyoshi to first place. Lol.

Tsugimanga feels the specific nomination requirements vastly favours monthly series. Weekly series generally only have one year they can be submitted, while I think some slow releasing manga have shown up for 3 years in a row. I wonder what'll show up from here and Jump+

Ichi the Witch for sure will be top 3
maybe Kiyoshi in the lower half

and from Jump+ I'd guess MAD, Shiba Inu Rooms, and if they're still applicable Girl Meets Rock and Ruri Dragon are the top possibilities.

I’d say Shinobi Undercover has a better chance of making it than Kiyoshi, it has much better online presence. In general manga with better online presence do better, honestly Strikeout Pitch and Monochrome Days have a better shot than MAD.

He's not wrong though. I dropped Solo Leveling way back, and even the content from back then has more meat than what Sakamoto has now. And that's with my opinion of Solo Leveling being bottom of the barrel trash that's only carried by the art.
