DISCLAIMER: I found this scrolling through Jump Matome yesterday, so I can't really verify it. Take it with a grain of salt.

Otr's Jump+ views:

Episode 1 196,441
Episode 2 143,711
Episode 3 117,931

Retention rate from episode 1 PV to episode 3 PV: 60%

The comment also mentioned this was between Embers and Do Retry, and above Ice Head Gill and Shadow Eliminators. I don't remember if Do Retry's views were considered "good" or not for Jump+, but if these numbers are true, it shows that Otr didn't do an extraordinary job of retaining interest. And Embers showed that just because a decent amount of people checked it out, doesn't mean they liked it.

Also everywhere but Twitter is basically saying the same thing: "Why the hell are we in a training arc right now?" and realized we're doing the Red Hood thing again.

===

My personal guess right now would be Otr is either going to start like Mamayuyu did (was initially really hyped, which led to a color page for chapter 8, but then crashed immediately after when it couldn't sustain that hype) or start out in the bottom 5. I've seen too much criticism and negative comments for me to think it's going to start like Ichi, Blue Box, or something like that out the gate. The only reason why I don't think it's confirmed that it will do bad is because Twitter leaned positive, but that could also just be a case of most people stopped reading and the only people still talking about it were the people that really liked it.

I will say, the next batch being a 4 series one was worst case scenario for Otr because all the "easy" series to beat are gone now (or you can include Nice Prison if you think it's dead already, but that's only one series). It has to do better than at least one, probably two of: Hima-ten!, Shinobi Undercover, Kill Blue, Elusive Samurai, Me and Roboco, and Witch Watch (maybe Kiyoshi and Nue if they change things drastically once Beethoven is cut, but I don't expect that). And considering they're promoting Hima-ten! and Shinobi alongside Kiyoshi for something in #29, all three of those series got new merch for the June volume release, Hima-ten! is almost certainly getting a cover at this rate once the new batch all debut (at the bare minimum, it's going to get a color page for the anniversary), Shinobi's anniversary is in September and it probably won't tank in the TOC before then, those two are basically safe from the next round of cuts. So it's going to be really hard for Otr to survive.

3/4 spokons is crazy. It does not help them at all. The table tennis one is what interests me the most.

They aren't axing 3 series here when they seem happy to promote Kiyoshi, Himaten and Shinobi.
It’s in preparation for Nice Prison and the possible conclusion of The Elusive Samurai and Blue Box.

Should they not? Usually when big series are near their ends, obviously they would get a cover before a center color page when they end.

Kemono Kuru by Tabigoro Kuji (One Shot Raw)
Did y'all check this week one shot? can't say much about the content but i really liked the author artstyle, he's the 2023 GFC winner but he already improved quite a lot with his art, looks quite refined and it has a different flavor of style compared to the current Jump, hope to see him debuting soon, he seems to be ready for! 🙏

@Phantom RPG Since you usually ask this things to me, put the name in the list :grin

But you have those as happening AFTER you say they could be ending to give room for the batch Kiaida was saying there weren't enough series to axe for. The timeline doesn't add up.

Elusive Samurai still has a lot of content left anyway, it's clearly in no rush to get to the end. the 3rd part will most likely last around the same length as part 2 or longer, there's still a whole major war to go through with a bunch of different battles, as well as a final pursuit arc after assuming it covers all of Tokiyuki's life.

Blue Box is harder to guess but I'd say it could have around a year left since the latest chapter showed that its going to focus on all these different relationships going forward. I doubt they'll get as much focus as the main couple did, but I also do think they'll be quick mini-arcs done in 3-4 chapters each.

Just wandering what the JP consensus is on Otr. Does it seem like it’ll survive ?(I know it’s only a small portion of voters and can be misprepresentative)
Not very positive tbh.

DISCLAIMER: I found this scrolling through Jump Matome yesterday, so I can't really verify it. Take it with a grain of salt.

Funny because i'm preparing a big post about WSJ manga views on Jump Plus for their 1st chapters, it's going to be posted soon, i have the app so can confirm the numbers are basically this for Otr but there are mistakes, Otr ch1 views isn't between Embers and Do Retry, is above both, Embers is at 175k and Do Retry at 191k, it's pretty much tied to Shadow Eliminators at 197k

These are fine numbers for the current standards.

So since we are taking about the state of the magazine, their genre’s, and what’s to come for the rest of the year. I think I will post them into 3 different categories. First off I would like to give my predictions for the remaining issues for the rest of the year.

Issue 46: The Elusive Samurai
Issue 47: Blue Box
Issue 48: Ichi the Witch
Issue 49: Akane-banashi
Issue 50: Sakamoto Days
Issue 51: New Series
Issue 52: New Series
In most of the years Jump starts either 11 or 12 new series, we're already at 8, so i don't expect at all for the next round to be 3 series since they don't even have what to axe besides Nice Prison and potentially Otr, i think the next will be either 1 or 2 new series, also sooner, at issue #41 Harukaze will have 12 chapters already and Nice Prison 19.

Inb4 Harukaze Mound is the second coming of Buddy Strike.
Nah, with a ekiden and ping pong series by complete unknown artists there's no way Harukaze would last 11 chapters :grin

Look, I am assuming cause of where I think they are. And this is just my predictions, they are not fact. If you or anyone else here think the setup for the remainder of 2025 will be different, then please put up your own predictions.

I will wait when it is translated, but from the art and concept, I like the idea of dinosaur skeleton battles being interesting. So I’m down for it. Seems like this artist likes to go for abstract premises.

Personally i expect/hope the next round to be 1 new series with Nice Prison ending or 2 if Otr is a bomb or BB ends, and the final batch of the year will be another 3 with whatever bombs in this current round of 4 + Blue Box ending.

So more of a reprieve if we get 1?

Already explained weeks ago, excluding Twitter for most of the time, the on jp forums many just thinks is more of the same, and slow pace.

I'm still expecting/hopecopeing that Nice Prison will perform better than we're all expecting it to. Not that it'll be a smash hit necessarily, but at least survive 2-3 rounds. Especially now that Choujo's gone.

What are you talking about lol? ES is in its final arc. Almost nothing left to cover historically.

So, I’ve been watching YouTube videos about canceled series and with what happened to Chojo, I ask everyone, which series personally shouldn’t have been axed and which one definitely did?
