Curiously, it has to do with the author Atsuo Ueda (Fairy Tail 100 years quest artist) who got married.

I don't know if Ueda was Hinata's assistant at some point or if they are just friends.

Ippo doing incredible well with how long it is. The fact is magazine still relies on it instead of newer series is bit sad. Hope they find new big hit soon though.

Also glad to see Orion Board doing well. Maybe if we lucky we might get anime adaptation.

Irozuku doing kind of disappointing. Wonder if Yumene steal its audience or something.

And of the today's "infinite" mangas from other magazines like Detective Conan and One Piece Ippo is the only one who doesn't have an anime to help keep him relevant considering that he's not that bad

December Sales, Week 1 (6 days)
3/13. Blue Lock 32+SE - (150,222)
9. Hajime no Ippo 142 - (43,951)
27. Kuroiwa Medaka 17 - (13,698)
55. Gachiakuta 13 - (10,295)
70. Banjou no Orion 4 - (8,930)
96. Yowayowa Sensei 10 - (6,564)
180. Irozuku Monochrome 2 - (3,960)

Definitely a stagnation/slight decline for Monochrome, not what it needed at the moment. With Yumene being well above it, it'll have to compete to stave off the axe against Galaxias. On the bright side these 2 series will have buffers in Bacchiri and Love 40. On another note, Medaka and Gachiakuta seem to have finally stopped declining, which is something.

My last post of the year

Let's recap what 2024 left in weekly shonen magazine

TOC 2024

Although WSM, as far as I know, does not have an average system as demanding as Shonen Jump, I made a table with the Jump system to evaluate the average that each series had during its serialization in 2024.

In this average, the new series had their average from the eighth chapter.

Neither the Lead Color Pages, nor the olor Pages, nor the absences or Hiatus are taken into account for the average of this ranking.
It should also be noted that this ranking is only based on the digital ranking of the magazine, the physical edition was not taken into account.

WSM 2024 Digital Ranking by average:
  1. Blue Lock 8.05
  2. Shangri-La Frontier 8.4
  3. Kakkou no lnazuke 8.5
  4. Edens Zero 8.8
  5. Banjou no Orion 9.65
  6. Seitokai ni mo ana wa aru! 9.86
  7. Kanojo, Okarishimasu 10.2
  8. Megami no Café Terrace 10.3
  9. Akabane Honeko no Bodyguard 10.5
  10. Kuroiwa Medaka ni Watashi no Kawaii ga Tsujinai 10.8
  11. Mayonaka Heart Tune 11.2
  12. Ao no Miburo 11.4
  13. Mokushiroku no Yonkishi 11.6
  14. Kanan sama ha Akumade Choroi 11.9
  15. Kaijin Fugeki 13.1
  16. Sentai Daishikkaku 13.16
  17. Amagami san Chi no Enmusubi 13.9
  18. GALAXIAS 15
  19. Irozuku Monochrome 15.14
  20. Yowayowa Sensei 15.7
  21. Gachiakuta 16
  22. Hajime no Ippo 16
  23. Batchiri Scratch! 16.25
  24. Fumetsu no Anata e 18.4
  25. Brave Bell 18.9
  26. Jyushin no Katana 19.2
  27. Yumene Connect 19.8
  28. Love Forty 20.1
  29. KIMURAXCLASS 20.5
  30. Mononoke no Ran 20.75
  31. Ahiru no Sora*
*Ahiru no Sora did not publish any chapters this year.

The most interesting thing to highlight in this average is that both Gachiakuta and Hajime no Ippo had the same annual average.

I share with you how the annual table turned out with its main pages in color, centers in color, absences, hiatus, endings and cancellations throughout 2024.

Ranking Oricon 2024

This year, with the end of the Tokyo卍Revengers, the magazine has been left without its biggest series in terms of sales so far this millennium.

Blue Lock continues to be the representative of the magazine, once again being within the TOP 10 of the best-selling manga according to Oricon sales, coming in at number 5 with a total of 3,881,269 copies sold.

Let's remember that in 2023 it was the best-selling manga in Japan.

*As of the date this top is published, a more complete ranking has not yet been released. As 2025 progresses, the sales for other WSM series that could appear in the Top 50 will be updated.
Circulation of the series in 2024

These circulations are the last ones published by their respective franchises, also because there are several new series and others that have not published their circulations, the list has become quite small.

*Kakkou no linazuke and Edens Zero only published circultaion for their first volume, to date their real circulation is unknown
