The Promised Neverland Chapter 142 Review by Elusia

Overview:

The chapter continues with the flashback as a knight from the battlefield comes into the hideout to tell the people inside about the terrible news regarding the ongoing battle and Commander Ratri’s status. The people want to rush out to get him and see the rest of the army, but Julius stops them at the entrance. They celebrate his sudden return, but then he wants to talk to them again about the proposal.

Julius explains that the offering of humans as a food source is needed; it ensures that the demons will never hurt them again and gives them better results than losing more and more people through war. He exclaims that he had enough of the constant fighting, having a flashback from a battlefield where he sees a lot of people in a pool of blood, and says that if they can make the offering, it’ll end conflict for good. One person argues back, but Julius retaliates by saying that, for the sake of mankind, they have to end the war. It’s not a decision he wants to make, but it’s the price for saving the humans. He begs them to accept the proposal, but they still refuse, telling him about the humans who would be taken by the demons. Not only will suffer from the single offer; since their children would be used as food this would increase their misery infinitely. The group goes silent for a few seconds before talks resume about what they have been going through themselves and that they’ll fight all the way. Julius interrupts them, proclaiming that he has heard enough, and screaming out that they are all wrong. But another person stops him and tells him that even Julius himself doesn’t truly want to do it since he’s the kindest one and feels even more responsible than most of the other leaders. He continues on stating that Julius wanted peace for all mankind through no compromises and expresses to him to take a break and rest. Julius keeps on insisting that they are wrong and before he talks to them again, he stops with a tired look on his face. He suddenly turns on them when the demons start attacking the knights, revealing that he became a traitor, already having made a deal with the Demon King, and despite disliking the idea, he announces that his friends will be the first cattle humans. Leaving the room with his friends captured, he monologues that his decision is the only answer and that his choice will save the human race and their world.

At the Seven Walls meeting, the demon lord accepts Julius’ wish, but he also demands something in return, keeping in mind the other meeting Julius had with Ivelk, a High Demon King. The Demon Lord grants his wish and tells Ivelk the first of his requests: the best meat the demons will grow throughout the ages. In his human farms, he wants meat better than the meat the kings are served. Ivelk accepts it. The Demon Lord then tells Julius that he will become the gatekeeper, keeping peace between the two worlds. He continues on with affirming that Julius’ overall role will be inherited by his family as well and mocks him that he can’t run away from his new responsibilities as he will be the foundation of the new peace treaty between the two races, forever binding him to his actions he took when betraying his friends.

Back in the present, the Demon Lord asks Emma about her wish and in return, reminds her of his reward. Emma thinks about the Demon Lord and what he is currently thinking and what he wants, but he only said that he wants the most important thing in life from the person making the wish. He asks her again whether she wants to go through with the wish despite those conditions, but then Emma boldly wishes that all cattle children shall be sent to the human world and that the two worlds will be closed off afterwards.

Thoughts:

This chapter wraps up the two-part flashback chapter leading up to the new promise. It was satisfying to see what lead to them sacrificing some humans to the demons, but also tragic to see, from Julius’ perspective, that the offering was the only path to freedom of all mankind and he paid the consequences, both by having his friends forced to become the first human cattle and by him having to suffer for his decision by being forced to oversee the promise. Julius made a huge mistake, but I did see where he was coming from.

Back to Emma, she was hesitating for a little while before doing what she thinks is right and just like Julius will end up suffering due to the inevitable consequence. Since Emma’s whole ambition is about her family, the price would be highly related to them. Maybe her family will be the last cattle food or all of them including her will be stuck in the demon world forever. Either way, it will definitely be horrifying.

Overall, I find this chapter to be great and look forward for more. I rate it a solid 8/10.

Yakusoku no Neverland/The Promised Neverland - Chapter 143 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: Obliteration

This Week's Chapter of Neverland begins with Emma repeating her Wish to the Supreme Leader of the Demons, she wants every Cattle Child to be sent to the Human World as well as the gateway between the Worlds to be closed for good afterwards. The Leader announces that he will grant her Wish,he however will have his compensation too: "What i want is your-" his desire is cut off for a moment and we're unable to see what he asked of Emma with her only response to it being: "Oh..." with a surprised expression on her face. Suddenly the scene switches back to Don and Gilda looking for Musica and Song Juu,it's been several days since their conversation with Ayshe and her having spoken human language,it is also revealed that they told Hayato about the footprints of Musica's horse they found before meaning they're closeby. Don and Gilda are full of energy and enthusiasm as they'll get to see their friends soon, and that a lot earlier than expected by them, they didn't tell Hayato the truth about Ayshe because they respected her desire to remain distant towards Norman and his Allies until she can get back at them. The days continued with them finding and checking on clues and tracks together, which isn't easy as their friends are experts at covering their tracks, suddenly one of Ayshe's dogs discovered a lingering smell and more footprints implying that they are not too far away now from them. Don reveals that this time they have found Musica's footprints, a new track which they'll follow from here on.

As Don and Gilda celebrate this new finding, unbeknownst to them,Hayato stands behind them with a scary expression on his face the reason for this is immediatly revealed to us as he has a flashback to before the begin of his mission when he and Hayato were called into Vincent's office. Hayato was given a certain device, very small and compact in order to contact Jin's group once they found Musica, since he can't make anything suspicious or alarming like a smoke signal so they won't run away from them. It's a Transmitter,if Hayato presses the button on top just once it transmits a signal to Jin and he immediatly knows their location,if they approach Musica and Song Juu then he is supposed to press the button in quick succession to give a clear route to their target. Which back in the present he actually commits to, he keeps pressing the button while following Don and Gilda hoping their attack will be over as soon as possible. Once Jin's Squad sights Musica and Song Juu they will surround them and immediatly kill them with the "Power of Lambda" also known as the Adam look-alikes,Hayato has absolute faith into Norman's plan and silently swears to himself that Ayshe, her dogs,Don and Gilda will not be harmed and that this is for their sakes as well. Norman needs Musica dead at all costs! A bit ahead of our friends we see Musica giving her horse some Water to drink,as the horse drinks she asks wether Song Juu wants to rest as well which he refuses as he is up and well.

In the middle of his sentence the Demon notices something behind a tree,a sign of life so to say,he tells them to show theirselves only to be met by Don and Gilda happily running towards them for a touching embrace. Musica recognizes her Don and Gilda and tells them how much she missed her friends, even Song Juu takes off his Mask and smiles so it really feels like a moving reunion as Musica realizes how much they've grown and the time that's passed since they last met. Ayshe and Hayato look on as they reunite with the latter remembering that Jin asked him to press the button 3 times once he see's them, which he does immediatly. As he presses the button Ayshe notices quick, multiple footsteps approaching them and as she does she screams to Musica and Song Juu in demonic Language. Probably a Warning. They're all immediatly surrounded by Jin and his Squad from above in the tree tops, Ayshe is threatened by Hayato with a Knife while Jin apologizes to Don and Gilda for what he is about to do but there is no choice: Musica has to die here and now. Suddenly Sung Joo appears right behind Jin,similar to Archduke Lewis and Emma in Goldy Pond before their fight was about to begin. Everybody ends up shocked at this, with Song juu holding his spear next to Jin's throat mocking his declaration from before by asking who exactly he thinks will get eliminated here.

Personal Thought's
This Chapter was loaded with Hype, 9/10, very solid developments and insane cliffhangers on both ends: Emma and the Supreme Leader,Song Juu vs Jin's Squad. I'm really curious what the compensation for Emma's Wish will be,because from her initial reaction in this chapter it felt like she would not have to give her Life or her friends up so it's still anyone's guess at this point. Over at Don and Gilda's side it's hard to say what comes next,Song Juu could wipe the floor with Jin and his Squad if he wanted to because that's some mad speed he's been showing here. If he's anything like Lewis in battle too, then they're in for a rude awakening. Norman underestimated Song Juu and Musica, and now he's paying the price for it most likely. Their shocked expressions and fear prove that they weren't ready for this, and if they can't keep up then the Lambda Clones cannot do anything about this situation either. I'm looking forward to this for sure! Till next time everybody!

The Promised Neverland Chapter 144 Review by Elusia

Overview:

The chapter begins with a flashback to Sonju and Musica noticing a presence approaching them. After a short exchange, they plan on luring them out and if their followers are pursuers, they would strike back, as it happened in the previous chapter. Hayato immediately notices Sonju standing behind Jin, but Ayshe pins him down while the tall demon attacks the Adams clones at ease, though Musica reassures him that he won’t kill them. Sonju asks Jin once more to leave before Jin shouts to just kill them all, no matter the cost. Ayshe shouts out to Sonju about the incoming attack and he dodges, saying that anyone who dares lay a finger on Musica would meet their demise. Before a proper fight can break out the Adams clones suddenly stop moving and start falling to the ground, no longer being able to breathe due to spasms and starting to die slowly. Musica orders the kids to get her her medicines and help them get better, but Sonju doesn’t agree to it. But since the current medicine of Muisca is not enough to help them, Jin has no choice but to surrender and give them their own medicine at the cost of being taken prisoner.

After sucessfully healing and tying them up, the rest of the kids inform the two about the recent events. Thinking about all the events since reuniting with Norman, Gilda realizes the truth about him: He intended to kill them from the start and he had a lot of plans to do so were he to fail on his first attempt. All the things he said back then were lies as he would never stray from his own goal, even so far as to not wait for Emma to reach her own approach to save all the kids. She starts crying as she deeply apologizes for the deeds of her sibling and desperately begs them to help them regardless, not only them, but all of the cattle children, including Norman.

Meanwhile at the shelter, Ray is walking around with Emma, getting her completely informed of the situation they are currently in. He asks Emma about the promise and she gleefully announces to both him and the others that it was a success and that they will all be able to leave towards the human world. Everyone celebrates the good news, though Ray asks her about the demon lord’s price. She dodges the question, leaving him fazed, but he is willing to let it slide for now. The kids are now preparing to leave and go towards the capital themselves after hearing that Norman plans to eradicate all of the demons inside the capital city and at the same time, back at the forest, Musica agrees to also leaving for the capital as she doesn’t want the war to start again. Sonju agrees and all of them are heading towards the demon capital.

Thoughts:

This chapter is a massive build-up to the big finale of all of them going to the capital. It starts off with portraying what I like Sonju and Musica and them being really cool in this chapter. Then Gilda getting a much needed perspective change and Emma returning home after accepting her deal with the demon. It’s in character for her to not say the actual price of them all going to the human world, as she probably realizes that it would really hurt them. As I speculated before, the price would be about her family, one way or another, though now it is very unlikely that the price will be them stuck in the demon world forever.

In the end, the chapter is great and I look forward to see the big conflict unfolds. I rate it a solid 8/10.

The Promised Neverland Chapter 145 Review by Emperor Spriggan

This chapter was a bit transitionary, nothing exactly big happened except towards the end. Probably why the title 'Many Threads' is kind of fitting.

It begins where last chapter picked off, with both Ray and Emma heading to the Royal Capital to stop Norman. The two decide to stop Norman before he kills the nobles, since once they were dead there would be no one to negotiate with. Emma asks Ray how long it takes to get to the capital, and Ray says 5 days. 3, if they rushed without taking any detours or short cuts.

Anna says that there are only 2 and a half days left till the Tifari, so regardless they are short on time. Emma and Ray also needed time to rest as well. At this point Oliver and the Goldy Pond kids show up with horses, beckoning the Grace Field kids to get on them. On the way to the Capital, Oliver explains that while Ray and Emma were at the Seven Walls, they taught themselves how to ride horses.

Emma asks Gilian if she is okay with the idea of stopping the war, considering how much she hated the demons. Gilian says that she still feels the same way, but she wants to save Norman, and help Emma (This scene was a little blehhhh, not really a fan of the Emma nakama stuff). Perspective shifts to Norman, who is with his lackies.

Norman receives information that the demons are heading to the bait place, and will be there by the morning of the Tifari. Vincent is asked about a trump card (I'm assuming its that demon converting device we saw in practice a while back), and he says it will be ready. Everything seems to be going perfectly, but the kids are cautiously optimistic. Which is a nice change, would be incredibly cheesy if we just saw them being confident and cocky. It's obvious most of them (Probably all of them) will die, leaving Norman by himself, but its still nice seeing they aren't being overconfident.

The kids of Grace Field back at Norman's base remark about how Norman seemed to be in a hurry to leave. Norman tells the Lambda children to take their medicines, plus to get a good rest. The Lambda children say they don't have a lot of time left (Quite a dark turn), but regardless, they were still grateful to Norman. Before they died, they could at least do some good in the world.

As their leader, Norman tells them no one is dying on his account (Again, more death flags for his crew). They can save their gratitude for when they win the war. Quite a good exchange, it highlights Norman's incredible leadership skills. Plus charisma. After a resounding battle cry, he distances himself from the rest of his crew. Looking towards the sky, he thinks back to Emma and Ray, and how they wanted to live with them. Coughing out blood (The Itachi syndrome, where a character is ill with an unspecified illness), he apologizes. This was the big event I was referring to in the first part of my review. We basically learn Norman is dying/short of time, something that no one else seems to be aware of. Not even his Lambda assistants. That would probably mean that he wouldn't make it till the end of the story, but I have this sneaking feeling the story will end with the original trio all reunited. So in a way, that kinda removes the tension from this scene.

The Tifari kicks off, and there's an explosion in the building where the demons are gathered together. Quite a good cliffhanger, I'd say.

My overall thoughts on the chapter are that while transitionary, it was actually pretty entertaining. In regards to the Norman stuff, at this point its painfully obvious everyone of the Lambda kids will die in the war, leaving Norman by himself. Which will be tragic, but it will be interesting to see what the plan will be if that happens.

Chapter rating:7.5/10.

Yakusoku no Neverland/The Promised Neverland - Chapter 146 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: Battle at the Royal Capital

This Week's Chapter of Neverland starts with a Color Page celebrating the Manga's 3rd year of publication! It shows almost all relevant characters, past or present, surrounding a birthday Cake with some others like Ray carrying in even more food. But there is another Special Occasion to be celebrated by our heros, Emma's Birthday on the 22th of August is coming up as well so they're throwing a big party. Here is the Color Page:

It's the 10th of November 2047,the fated day, The day of the Tifari Ceremony. The Queen alongside the Nobles approach a ceremonial altar intended to serve their offerings and sacrifices to the Supreme being among the Demons: Several kinds of Fruit and 3 Premium Grade Meat Jar's. The method to send the Supreme Leader their offerings is the same as Emma and Ray used to reach the Seven Walls before, as their ritual seemingly begins and we see Demon Children and Adults celebrate their great leaders name a sudden explosion occurs at one of the Capital's gates shocking the Nobles. The Explosion has been triggered by Norman and his Allies, but this wouldn't be everything as several more explosions set off targetting the Bridges leading into and towards the Royal Capital cutting the City off from the outside completely. As the Citizens fall into panic and fear the Guards and Royal Knights realize that someone must be trying to attack them and need to take action quickly but as they turn around they're met by Barbara who immediatly attacks and kills them on the spot in a matter of moments. Soon after she is contacted by Cicero who claims that he and his Squad have successfully taken down all the Look outs on the West Side of the Capital while Barbara reports that she took down several guards on her East Side with Vincent reporting that he and his Squad have breached their Security Lines. As he concludes his report he opens the front gate for Gillan and his followers, who immediatly begin to attack the Royal Knights.

As all of their allies have entered the Capital and their surprise attack has been a success Vincent continues to lock all the Gates leading into the Capital to prevent reinforcements of the Demons getting into their way, the Capital usually houses a strong force of 5000 Demons but due to Normans schemes and tricks they divided their forces to search the culprit/s behind this crime out. Leaving the Capital with 1000 Soldiers currently, out of which 700 are outside taking care of Citizens falling in panic and trying to maintain order while the remaining 300 are inside the Castle facing off with Gillan's Squad of 50. Which comes in handy as their own forces won't have to deal with that as well, Gillan's half deterioritated Demons are holding up rather well to my surprise as they take down several Royal Guards instantly here. As they start fighting we see Vincent telling Cicero and Barbara to retreat and leave everything to the Gillan Squad as they don't need to risk their lives anymore at this point, meanwhile Norman and Zazie come face to face with Gillan who is impressed by his partners performance who only wishes him an enjoyable vengeance. Inside the Ritual Chamber we see the Nobles panic as they don't know what's happening and none of their servants have been reporting anything so far either, they send one of their retainers out to check on the situation but just as he opens the door and wants to report that there are bandits coming he is stabbed into the head with a Knife.

Some of the Nobles wonder if these bandits are the same that destroyed their farms before and are currently being hunted down but Ivelk denies their suspicion immediatly as he recognizes the large Demon entering their Chamber while greeting them all, to be none other than Gillan. Lord Bayon seemingly recognizes him as well while Lord Pupo takes matters into his hands as he sends his parents into safety as they'll deal with Gillan but to his shock instead of retreating his Mother stabs him straight into his mask's centre killing him instantly only to cut his head off entirely afterwards. As the Nobles attempt to strike back and question this action of Lady Pupo they're met by Gillan telling them that they should be able to recognize their own family, he claims that it was very easy to mimic the honorable Lord and Lady Pupo as well as some other Nobles as they have eaten plenty of their kind over the years as well as having stolen their masks containing their smell and voice. He praises the Nobles for having matured and grown into splendid warriors but their retainers should not and can't be trusted as they are all part of his House only waiting for a chance to strike, he picks up Pupo's head to eat it and as he starts eating his flesh and mask we see how his body begins to change into it's original Human like state. Gillan claims that they forgot nothing, not their grief, not their hatred nor the humiliation they felt when thrown into the Wild about 700 years ago by them.

As Gillan threatens the Lives of the other Nobles next he is only met by the Queen's cold expression claiming that their efforts are laughable at best...

Personal Thought's

I rate this Chapter a 8.5 out of 10.

Things had been moving pretty quickly this Chapter but it's understandable given the importance of this story point in Neverland i'd say. The surprise attack went all according to plan and even Gillan's Squad did their work splendidly this far which was surprising to me but i guess the beast like Demons are superior to the wealthy demons remaining with human stature.Norman and his allies are as calm and relaxed as can be,as usual, everything went according to plan and he is very close to executing the Nobles or well...Gillan is but he seems to be at his end already if i can take the Queen's last remark as an indicator of her or the nobles in general still having some cards to play. Which would make sense, though it may appear unlikely to demons at large the nobles were aware of a threat and tried to monitor it. They need/needed some sort of an emergency plan in case the worst happens. I wonder when and where we'll see Emma and Musica arrive at the scene, they should be there as well by now and their goal is to stop Norman before the nobles die at his hands. Whatever is going to happen here i only know that we're about to learn what exactly happened to Musica and Gillan to getting banished into solitude, anger and regrets. I'd be interested in that, especially since it would mean that we'd be able to meet and see Lewis again and perhaps discover his relationship with Musica...Till next time Everybody!

The Promised Neverland Chapter 147 Review by Elusia

Overview:

The chapter continues on from the last chapter where Gillan and his army infiltrated the demon castle in the capital. Snippets of images are shown as the demon below him shouts wickedly at him. Then, the flashbacks start going back seven-hundred years ago, beginning with a demon meeting. The former family head, Gillan, talks about their current situation in how low quality human meat production has been slow over the years and if they did nothing about it, it would be bad for the public. He suggests opening up the royal treasury as well as the nobles providing meat for the masses. Despite of all the family heads rejecting the idea, he stands by in his opinion as he recounts how their fellow kind transformed back into wild demons and started eating their own families, claiming that the issue is spread throughout the country and that the total damage is yet to be seen. The demon society, according to him, is close to crumbling, so they should take extreme measures to counter it for the demon’s own sake. The atmosphere turns quiet until a demon family head named Ivelk says that his point is clear, but the complaints aren’t justifying the suggestions. He points out that since the war ended only recently, production of human meat increased slower than the general population size and that the farm management is the reason. Fortunate to them, they are already working with the Ratri clan and planning to run multiple experiments on the meat to solve those issues. They’ll have to wait for the results before they can decide. After that, the meeting ends.

Next we see Gillan being upset, contemplating that the demon families were unable to see the crisis as it is and only truly care about their very own well-being. The demon with him, Dozza, meanwhile talks about the family head’s nobility and how Giran is on another level compared to the other families, sharing his personal meat with his citizens. Gillan is clearly distressed about the situation, but Dozza reassures him that his efforts will ultimately save them and his actions will be recognized. However, this is immediately interrupted my the next scene where Gillian gets accused of high treason, having been set up by Dozza. He calls on Ivelk for help, but Ivelk knows the situation fully and keeps him as a criminal anyways. He tells the wrongfully blamed demon that his ideals are a detriment to the other nobles and was set up as a scapegoat, explaining to Gillian the true state of moral depravity of the Royal Court. As Ivelk leaves him by himself, Gillan is overtaken by his negative emotions.

Going back to the current events, he charges the noble demons, reminiscing his family, retainers and other demons who he cared so much about and who died, some of them after regressing to their primal forms, and his grief is fueling his resolve. He kills them all in one sweep and eats their corpses without mercy. As Dozza dashes in, expecting to win easily after having strengthened himself over centuries, Gillan kills him easily as well. Amidst of it all, Cicero and Barbara are hiding above, informing Norman about the recent events, which makes him tell them to move in.

Thoughts:

This chapter solidifies Gillan as a fleshed out character, from his tragic backstory to going to the capital with pure vengeance. He’s also another example of a demon who has different ideals than most of their kind. I feel like the plan is going way too smooth for my liking so far, but I still want to know where it goes from here, especially between him and the Queen. She might not be as fragile or weak as the other demon families. We also get to see a sneak peek into another Norman’s plan, which is cool.

The overall chapter is pretty good and I look forward to see the demon fight between Gillan and the Queen. I rate it a solid 7/10.

The Promised Neverland Chapter 148 Review By Emperor Spriggan

Another chapter, where we get more focus on the civil war between the demons. Truthfully I'm struggling to remember the names of all the others minus the Queen. Giran is an interesting character though, credit to him. Loved how he was turned into a pariah in the last chapter.

One of the lower ranking nobles tells the Queen to stand back, while Norman and his group watch from above. Andrew is thrilled, everything has gone all according to Norman's calculations. (One more W for the Norman camp in this arc, to add to all the ones we had already accumulated;P) Norman instructs the others to move in, but refrain from attacking. The plan is to eliminate the last one standing. Be it Giran or the Queen.

We then switch to a flashback of something that had happened earlier. With Emma and the other kids. Realizing that the festival has already started, Emma thinks that they have to stop Norman. Even though he is already at the heart of the capital. At the time is when the explosion earlier rocks the city, startling Emma. Before Ray and Emma can move in, someone calls them from the back.

The duo turn back, to meet Don and Gilda looking at them. Hayato and Aishe are with the two, plus of course, the best female in the series. Along with her sidekick. Ray is elated to see Musica and Sung Ju there, but Emma seems to be in visible distress. She and Musica share an emotional hug (Panel of the chapter easily). Though it makes me wonder about that theory I've seen floating around for the past few weeks now. About Musica being an alternate version of Emma. Future her, demon her, past her yada yada.

Emma tells Musica everything about what Norman has planned, and Musica reassures her that everything will be okay. She also thanks Emma after seeing how far the human girl is willing to go for her sake. Don asks about the promise, to which Emma reassures him that she already remade it. The group are elated, but Emma says the promise will take some time to kick in. Sung Ju seems troubled about this (Again, another interesting detail, especially if you consider his former goal to hunt down wild game again). Finally, the sidekick has an interesting plotline again, hah.

Again, we have another flashback. This time, we skip back to two days before. The Goldy Pond kids are in the forest, doing surveillance on the area around the Capitol. Just then, they realize that there are demons who are actively on the look out for Norman's base of operations. How did they know about it though? Would love to see this being explored. Ray tells the other Goldy Pond kids to head back to the hideout in order to protect it from the incoming onslaught. Hesitant at first, they finally see the logic in the plan and decide to retreat.

Switching back to the current day, we see Ray show Norman and Gilda a note. It contains the recipe for the poison Norman was developing before he set out for the capital. How he got it, Idek. It seems like an unnecessary slip up. Though I wonder if they will explore the solution of an antidote here. Maybe Musica's blood?

Sung Juu gives Emma a communicator, telling her to go on ahead. In the event of any trouble she should call him and he'd show up at once. Musica and her sidekick would take care of the unrest within the city. Gilda tells Emma something, that we hear nothing of. The chapter caps of with both Emma and Ray headed to the heart of the Capitol.

Now, as for my personal opinion. This was a pretty interesting chapter.
Pros:
-Norman being Norman, continuing to prove why is the best character in the series x) The plan for assassinating Musica might have failed, but it was a relief to see his calculations regarding the capital were spot on.
-The return of the series's best female character, Musica.
-Sung Juu and his reaction to the promise, when he learns about it.
-What Gilda whispered into Emma's ear at the end.

Cons:
-The Goldy Pond kids. Seriously, at this point what exactly is their use in the story? Especially knowing that their fight with the demons invading the base will be: a)Offscreened b)Watered down, since all those demons will be fodder.
-Ray finding that note about the antidote. Imo this was a completely forced part of the chapter, as small as it is. That poison is supposed to be a trump card, no? Why would you leave such an important note lying around carelessly? Though, if the Lambda kids used that poison on themselves (Poisoning their blood), that would be an interesting development.

Final chapter rating: 8/10

Yakusoku no Neverland/The Promised Neverland - Chapter 149 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: The Call of Duty

This Week's Chapter of Neverland picks things up right where we left off with Emma and Ray making their way towards Norman, while on their way Emma kept thinking about how they have to stop Norman at all costs before it's too late while passing demon corpses and destroyed buildings with the explosions all over the city not ceasing in the slightest. They reach one of the Castle's Towers and attempt to enter it but to their surprise all the gates have been locked,we remember that this is Vincent's doing as he took care of the Security for the Capital with his Squad, Ray wants to continue looking for another way in but is stopped by Emma who has spotted a small window above the gates to enter. He recalls the blueprints of the Castle that he saw back at their Hideout and realizes that through this window they could still reach the upper floors, the only downside is that it's a bit too high up for both to reach ,Ray makes a foothold for Emma with his hands with the latter making quickly for the window. She will stop Norman, everybody will have to hang tough but she will definitely stop him for all their sakes and his own. The scene cuts back to the Royal Chambers where only Queen Legravalima and Lord Ivelk remain of the Nobles after House Gilan's previous attacks,Ivelk thinks to himself how impressive said display has been given that these deteriorating Demons managed to take out even Lord Dozza who used to be House Gilan's War Chief with battle prowess only second to the Queen's own in a single strike.

What has Ivelk on his toes even more is that said attack hasn't been executed by Lord Gilan himself but one of his servants,he concludes that all 10 of the servants surrounding Gilan are some sort of Elite Force equal to or above Lord Dozza in ability, he is simply impressed by House Gilan and their Leader. However,Ivelk can't help but feel like something is strange since so far the Nobles assumed that it was Gilan and his Clan that were raiding and destroying the farms and while at it they consumed all the meat from them but when they arrived their shape resembled those of Demons living in the wild meaning the raids and even the attack on the Capital have been planned and executed by someone else entirely but who? As Ivelk tries to gather his thoughts and strength in the face of Gilan and his servants he is ordered to back down by the Queen, one of Gilan's servants thinks how she just made a wise move by doing so since Ivelk can be considered the cornerstone of the crown who handles all the practical affairs within the Capital and as we remember he also was the one to forge the original promise with Julius hundreds of years ago. They will deal with him once the Queen and Norman have been eaten by Gilan and he's become the new King, right now they need to defeat the Queen first though. As the Elite servants attempt to attack the Queen she calls them a bunch of fools and decapitates 3 of them with a single swing of her claws only to mow down several more of Gilan's men in an instant.

As his comrades lifelessly fall to the ground with shattered and cut through masks one of the Elites reminiscinces about the path they had to walk on only to get back here and take back what is theirs, they will not waste this chance. Some of the Servants disagreed with the Queen and Nobles judgement of Lord Gilan and protested against them only to be exiled alongside their Leader,Gilan and his Wife wanted them to stop their protests and live their lifes merrily but they rather wanted to live a Life in which Gilan is King and rules them. As things had to come Gilan alongside his servants and Wife were exiled and tied to trees in a forest outside the Capital and left to the wild without any food to eat, something that moved some of his servants that followed his wishes and didn't protest so much that they offered him to eat their bodies so he can resume a somewhat human like form again and escape his decided fate. The Life and Freedom they had was given to them by their comrades sacrifices making it their duty to prove the righteousness of their cause, they did not devour another and endure their exile all this time to lose and die to these arrogant and cruel nobles but to achieve Victory. The Queen continues to kill and injure more of Gilan's Warriors only to almost fall victim to a surprise attack from the Servant that killed Dozza before, she dodges his swing in the last second and cuts half of his head off instead and praises him as his attack was the closest anyone will get today.

The servants knew all the time that none of them would be able to match or defeat a Royal in battle, but they didn't just come here to try and die they came to make Gilan the new King of the Demons. With the last amounts of their energy the servants get up a final time, to reveal that they tied explosives to their bodies ready to set off whenever they want, the Queen realizes this and attempts to get away but is surrounded by the servants all simultaneously lighting their explosives: "Long Live Lord Gilan!" is all that echoes through the halls before a huge blast sets off engulfing the Queen. With her retainers and Ivelk in utter shock...

Personal Thought's

I rate this Chapter a 9 out of 10.

Interesting Chapter, cleared a few things up for me and proved some thoughts i had about the situation and the Demons Knowledge as correct. At least to some extent i guess, not surprised by the Queen's power and skill since she is Lewis Sister after all. Like Brother like Sister they say...It was interesting to see and learn more about Gilan's past and early exile, the devotion and faith his followers have and had into him to the extent of letting him and his Elites eat them to sustain some of their intellect and form was incredible to witness and pretty emotional i found. It now makes sense why it was Ivelk that forged the promise and held the negotiations with Julius back then given his position within the Demon Kingdom, he is technically the advisor to the Royal Family thanks to his sharp intellect and knowledge and it seems like losing him would cost more than the actual Queen dying since as long as Ivelk is around the system and power remains within their hands and someone else can rise to power. It seems as long as their results and efforts get acknowledged even Commoners can rise into the Ranks of Royalty/Nobility,but we don't know enough about that just yet. I feel like that's the case though. Now i'm just wondering if and where Musica and Song Juu will appear and if Emma will get to Norman without anyone getting into her way, looking forward to it like always! Till next time everybody!
