Here in Brazil, when they started to release mangas, I don't know why but the volumes here where about a half of a tankobon. Nowadays, they release in the correct format, but the numbers make seems like I have a thousand mangas, but it's not true. So, 2 series marked as half-tankobon makes an equivalent tankobon in Japan.
