As usual the first chapter is loaded with all this extra stuff at the beginning. Glad that's out of the way.

Author Flap:
Don't fear loneliness.

Raising the flag of conviction, march into the darkness all by yourself.

After you've tasted pain and sadness all alone, the flag of a sworn friend is sure to come into view.

That is the flag of hope of opened wounds.

The answer to the question 'What family were you born into?'
determines a person's life.
For all of human history, 'birth=heritage' has ruled society.
Before the revolution, France is an 'absolute monarchy'.
Kings were considered representatives of God, ruling by divine
right and wielded absolute power over the administrative, legislative,
and judiciary aspects of government.
People were split into the levels: the 1st estate, the clergy; the 2nd
estate, aristocrats; and the 3rd estate, common people. The 2% of the
aristocrats and clergy ruled the 98% that was made up of commoners.
Through tax collection and methods that represented legal amnesty,
aristocrats enjoyed wealth and privilege while the common people lost everything they had, including their lives, to support the aristocrats.
While the aristocrats were in constant struggles for power
under the king, the common people starved------------

At the current point in time, France is in a confrontation with England.
France once allied with Prussia in a war against Austria and England, but Prussia later betrayed them and made an alliance with England which led to France allying with its sworn enemy for 200 years, Austria.
As part of their diplomatic strategy, the 11th daughter of the Austrian queen, Marie Antoinette, married into the French Royal Family at the age of 14.

For the sake of control of the country, the government at the time held the exclusive right to revenge against lawbreakers, 'punishment'
And so the 'executions' which took the lives of the people became the symbol of the government's ultimate power.
The ones that carried out that power were the executioners.
While the family of executioners in Paris for generations, the
Sansons, were 'guards of justice' they were a presence scorned as
'grim reapers' for killing of the brethren of the people...
Even while they contributed to society as doctors, they were
reviled by society from the moment they were born.

In this time of revolution when ideals are sought and a sea
of blood is spilled, who will survive?! Who is the true leader?!
Who will be the one to find the way the new world should be-------------?!
Among the revolution's sea of flames, what is reflected in the eyes of
the Sanson Siblings that stand on the execution platforms that
the people's lives flow into--------------?!!

Top: (The story leading to the present)
Text: In 1774, after a 60 year reign, Louis XV has finally passed. The next year, Auguste took the throne as Louis XVI. The government of "the Beloved", a man who drowned in his own lust, ended. And now with a new era led by a young king beginning, the people were ripe with anticipation.
Meanwhile, dark clouds loomed over the Sanson family because the new king had a heart filled with mercy. Charles feared that executions like they had been up to that point could end up buried in the shadows.
Elsewhere, 'Queen Antoinette' finally gave birth with the new king. And while she was intoxicated with power, her soul source of frustration was the ever-unyielding Marie-Josephe. Queen Antoinette invited Marie-Josephe to her "couples' dance" ball with the goal of making her giant, immobile husband into a laughingstock. But upending that trap, Marie danced with a "marionette" made to imitate her husband. And because the aristocrats there found the "marionette" humorous, Marie successfully tuned the tables on Antoinette's plan...!!!
And a world away from the magnificent palace, there is the slums of Paris. There, a woman who called herself a 'descendant of the House of Valois', "Jeanne of Fontette Village" (later Comtesse de la Motte) ruled as the queen of the slums. She was arrested for her excessive vice and was set to be executed by Charles. However, just before her execution her bloodlines was officially recognized. She was spared her execution and then began to be treated like an aristocrat...!!
During her pregnancy, Antoinette was ablaze with love for the Swedish aristocrat, Fersen. And perhaps to be a symbol of that love, the Palace of Versailles became drowned in pleasure... Meanwhile, the commoners were starving... the "people's anger" that overflowed from that pyramid of extreme disparity now threatens to become a a thorn in the struggle for power-----!!

Guy: Kukuku...
I have such regret...
Kid: Papaa!!!
Masteeeer!!!
Guys: It's such a pity. They say he's only being executed because Count De Guillon got him blamed for his own crime of leaking military secrets.
I can't blame him. Poor aristocrats have less power than merchants these days.
All they can do is obey the major aristocrats.

Page 15:
Someone: Look at that beautiful countess.
Apparently it's been decided that she will be Maruis De Guéret's mistress.
I get ya. So his real goal was to snatch up the guy's beautiful wife, eh?
It's a pity... I can't watch...
But she's a pretty tough Madame.
She's not crying one bit...
Char: Take my sword.
Guy: Yes, sir.
