Everyone was quite tired, but the candles that kept getting put out one by one was so unnerving it had managed to keep up the atmosphere...

133)
1: ...the end...
2: Seriously, the curses of cats are truly things to be feared...
3(2b): I see...that was really a ghastly story...
4: There goes the 98th...
5: Next, it's your turn.
6: Haah...
7: Well, now that you mention it...
8: It really embarrasses me to say this, but I'm all out of stories...

134)
1: Would someone mind telling one in my place?
2: The truth is, I already went through all the stories I had prepared too...
3: I guess...
4: even for occult-lovers like us, getting to 100 with only 6 people proved too difficult a task.
5: We're so close, though...
6: Only two left...
7: Mmmm...

135)
1: Alright then, I'll go...
2: This was a special story I saved for the end. It's based on reality...
3: I was 26 at the time...
4: It was my dream to become a lawyer...

136)
1(2b): Since I came from a poor family who couldn't afford to send me much allowance, I had to work during the day to save up for my education fees...all my other free time was spent studying for the bar exam.

137)
1: Then, one day...
2: Yo!
3: So we meet again...
4: I really hate this guy...
5: That was the genuine thought that ran through my mind at that moment.

138)
1(2b): What's that? You live around here?
2: His name was Ooba Toshio...a struggling scriptwriter...
3: When did you move here?
4: He was a friend of mine in college, but by this point I had already cut my ties with him.
5: He was so lazy, and was so conceited, and thought he was so cool...he really got on my nerves...
6: He was the kind of guy who seemed determined to leave some sort of wound in my heart every time we met.
7(2b): Ohh! That looks like a nice apartment.

139)
1(2b): Anything good in here? I'm so thirsty...
2: Oh! Beer!
3: Shameless as always...
4: Puhaaaaah!
5(2b): He really made it seem like a coincidence...but it's clear that he came here for a certain reason...
6: What could it be...?
7(2b): Is he in debt? Then he's got the wrong house.
8: Hmmm...
9: You really are something.
10: How many times will you have to fail to understand?
11: You just got out of college, and you still want to take exams...?
12: Those guts are about the only good quality you've got.
13: Is that all you came here to say...?

140)
1: What, you trying to start a fight?
2: You think *I* am?!
3: I'm not like you!
4(3b): This time for sure...I absolutely have to pass this exam! Not only for myself...but for my parents, who have allowed me this selfishness for so long...
5: I don't have the time to listen to your sarcasm...
6: How petty...
7(2b): So what about your parents? You really want to make it big that badly?
8: Sometimes you just gotta cut loose and go with the flow.
9(2b): Alcohol, women...it'll change your worldview.
10: Would you mind leaving...?
11(2b): Sheesh...so it won't help no matter what I say, eh?

141)
1: Of all things, however, I can't believe you'd have the gall to make me sound like some good-for-nothing...
2: If you think I've just been mulling around on the edge of the movie biz this whole time, you're in for a big surprise!
3: When the times comes, I know how to make ends meet!
4(2b): Check this out! The script I'm working on right now might be bought by a sponsor!
5: This is his deposit money!
6: So you didn't come to ask for money...
7: This is what I'm talkin' about!
8: Who you trying to kid, man?!
9: Hey, how about it? Let's go hit up the town with this money tonight!
10: We'll go ALLLL out...
11: The exam was drawing ever closer, and I needed cash.
12(2b): With my salary from being a lathe operator, however, I was just barely able to survive. I was the one who was in debt.

142)
1(3b): Even if I ask you like this? We need to watch out for each other when we're in trouble, right? I promise I'll pay it right back when the exam's finished!
2: No way...
3: If you want money to go play around with me, then I'll think about it...
4: But I refuse to take part in building your road to success...
5: I thought we were friends...
6(2b): I'm shocked...when I met you back there,
7: you were clearly making an unpleasant face. I didn't expect to hear that line from you...
8: Makes me wanna puke...

143)
1: But it's true that I do owe you something.
2: Here!
3: You can pay me back without interest once you hit it big.
4: So you better work hard and pass that exam, alright?
5: Heheheh...
6: Oobaaaa!

146)
1: He's dead...
2: It's all over...
3: Over...
4: I'm finished!

147)
1: Kukuku...
2: Haha...
3: No way!
4: I'll never let it happen...
5: There's no way I'm sacrificing my life all for the sake of that rotten piece of shit...how could I stand to let such a ridiculous thing happen?!
6: I should just think of this as training...
7: That's it...
8: Lawyer training...
9: Valuable training where I can actually experience the psychology of a criminal...
10: Fufu...

148)
top sfx: *saw saw*
1: Luckily, there shouldn't have been anyone who knew about the relationship I had with Ooba...and with the way he was, it wouldn't have been strange for him to suddenly disappear...
2: A murder case without a corpse...judging from past examples, cases in where it's hard to come up with any evidence usually end up with nonprosecution...

149)
1: So it's all a matter of how expertly I dispose of the corpse...

151)
1: Haa haa
2: Haa..
3: Strangely enough, everything went fine for me after that.
4: I passed the bar exam, finishing two years of training, and started up my own practice by the end of my third year.
5(2b): Everything went along so smoothly that it actually felt a bit creepy. Like there was some huge pitfall awaiting me somewhere...
6: At the least, though, there were no investigations made about Ooba after the event, and it appeared that his whereabouts had been left as unknown...

152)
1: Lawyer Office
2: Good morning!
3: Morning.
4: Huh?!

153)
1: Hey...what's this red stain from?
2: I dunno...
3: I didn't even notice it until now...
4: It must be mold. Ewww...
5: This isn't mold.
6: Then what is it?
7: Who knows...it's like the concrete itself is stained.
8(2b): How can that be...it's been getting bigger in the past few days.
9: Anyway, what do you say we just repaint this spot?

154)
1: Nnnnn...
2: Uuu?!
3(2b): This is so weird...we painted right over it...!!

155)
1: Yo!
2: So we meet again...
3: What a coincidence...
4(2b): I've been here for five years, but...I never thought I'd meet you again here, of all places.
5(2b): My body was smashed to bits and turned into concrete, but...I don't hate you for it...
6(2b): It's nice and cool here, it feels good. Like finally finding a nice place to rest.

156)
1: Except it's really boring.
2(2b): Shut up! Shut up!!
3(2b): Hey, hey, that's uncalled for. We're friends, aren't we...?
4: By the way, I have a favor to ask.
5: I was never able to finish my script, and it's really been bugging me.
6: It's my finest work, so I want to make it complete...
7: I can't even hold a pen now, as I'm sure you can see...
8(2b): I'll forget about the money I lent you. So in return...
9: Give me your right hand!
10: Uuuu!

157)
1: Uwaaaahhh...?!

158)
1: Ummm, excuse me, but...
2: Your right hand...
3: No! It's not like we think you actually killed someone, it's just...
4: Fufufu...does it bother you?
5: Then see for yourselves...

159)
1: Ohhh!
2: P-phew!
3: Haha...give another point to that fellow...
4: That story sounded so real.
5: Now then...
6: It looks like we're down...
7: to today's finale, Alma-san...
8: Then we'll finally be able to see if that old saying about "100 Tales" is true or not...
9: Fufufu...
10: Whether a real creature of the night will appear or not...
11: Before that, let's take a coffee break.
12: Good idea!
13: It's 5 AM on the dot...
14: Almost time for morning to come...

160)
1: Shall we begin, then?
2: I...
3(2b): The truth about myself is...I've kept it hidden until now, but I am actually a witch.
4: And...?

161)
1: The end.
2: What?!
3: Oh, come on...
4(2b): That's not even a story...you can't expect us to laugh at a joke like that this late in the game!
5: Then what do I need to do to get you to believe that I am a witch...?
6: Hahaha...well, to be honest...
7: I can't even believe that witches actually exist!
8: Haven't you seen them on TV before?
9(3b): They ride around on brooms, disappear into thin air...transform into animals...
10: Then...
11: How about this?!

162)
1: Uwaaahh?!
2: Fufufu...

164)
1: Gyaaaaaahhh!!
2: A-a monsterrrr!!
3: He
4: He he...
5: Heeeelp!
6: Uuuu...
7: Look into my eyes!

165)
1: Huh?!
2: Gyaaaahhh!
3(2b): H...help me...

166)
1: Sorry for frightening you.
2: You all just saw a hallucination due to group hypnosis.
3: I put a drug that would make it easier for you all to fall under into the coffee you just drank.
4: Is he...dead?
5: No...merely sleeping.

167)
1: Still, though...
2: Speaking about one's own crime as if it was a piece of entertainment, feeling no qualms about revealing one's evil deeds, is the pinnacle of arrogance...
3: All I really wanted was a clue...
4: His pride dug his own grave for him.
5: What do you intend to do with him?
6: Ooba-san...
7: Revenge for my son...
8: I should hate his killer enough to kill him myself, but my son is also at fault...
9: I should simply leave it up to the police and pray for a fair trail, but...
10: Just as he said, it will be hard to come up with any evidence now...

168)
1: Would you be alright with him turning himself in?
2: Well, of course...
3: But...how could we ever get him to admit to his own crime...
4: Fufu...
5: Did you forget about my hypnosis...?

Chapter VI 6 - The Man Who Turned To Stone / End

In the face of an armed citizen's riot,
the President escaped his personal residence and rode on an American aircraft to
France.
2(2b): Through the collapse of the Vallivalli machine, which has ruled the country
through a fear-based dictatorship, a period of dark politics rampant with hunger,
tyranny, and injustice has come to an end.

107)
1: Living off his 400,000,000 dollars' worth of foreign assets, President
Vallivalli is reported to be living an elegant, utopian life now that he has
defected to France...
2: In response to this,
3: the French government has indifferently stated that they are merely permitting
his temporary stay there due to a request from the US, and noted that a forced
deportation in the future would be possible.
4: During his Presidency, Mr. Vallivalli was famous for being a charismatic leader
said to possess magical powers. As of now, however, he has lost every last one of
his admirers...

108)
1: Through the instant concentration of psychic subconscious abilities, Alma is
capable of tripping through space and time.
2: Due to this, the sensors of her consciousness picked up on a certain signal
spreading through the physical world one night.

109)
1: She was currently asleep at the time, so Alma's body responded to the signal
semi-reflexively.

110)
1: Ohhh?!

111)
1: I finally did it!
2: I finally summoned a demon!!

112)
1: Look at that! Now do you see how powerful I am?!
2: I told you my black magic wasn't all a farce...
3: Awawah...
4: Hey! You don't have to run!
5: This witch is my ally!
6: Are you...
7: President Vallivalli from the Sabbath Republic...?!
8: gggh!
9: Now this is a surprise...so you're a witch keen to the goings-on of this
world...?
10: And you seem to understand my speech...

113)
1: Looks like my luck finally returned to me, just when I started on my
decline...fufufu...
2: Don't you dare tell anyone about this! Got it?!
3: Y-yes, sir!
4: What? They'll extend the time until my deportation if I move to the country?!

114)
1(2b): Yes...apparently they don't want to have to be responsible for protecting
you.
2(2b): Dammit! They're all irresponsible bastards just like the others...
3: to be honest, it's the fault of that French policy of keeping the people
idiotic and easily subjugated during the colonization period.
4: They destroyed our culture, and then planted the seeds of development...
5(2b): I'm not going to rely on them anymore! I don't care if the French
government tries to get rid of me, I have a stronger ally on my side!
6-7: Go home!
8: Right, Alma...?

115)
1: A...
2: CHOO!
3: It looks sunny outside, I wonder why it's so cold in here...
4(2b): Ahh, the truth is...
5: You bastard!
6: How dare you bring another woman in here while I was out!
7(2b): Wait, Catherine! You've got it wrong!
8: You probably won't believe me even if I tell you, but she...
9(2b): Damn right I won't believe you! I've had it up to here with your lies, just
like the citizens of Sabbath!

116)
1: And what about you, going around shopping in Paris without taking any
protection?!
2: Ufu! Dreamy, isn't it?
3(2b): This fur coat...is it sable?! Then it must have cost at least $1,000,000...
4(2b): $1,500,000. It was on sale, so I decided to pick it up.
5: I can't believe you...
6: You must have been the one who turned the cooler on in this room, too...
7: We can't afford luxuries anymore like we used to be able to!
8: Huh? What happened to your hidden savings?
9: Everyone found out about them, so I can't use them anymore...
10(2b): Hmph! I thought as much. So all that stuff about you living a life of
luxury in France was a lie too, then...
11: You good-for-nothing...!
12: Shut up!
13: Chairman Felix of the new government...

117)
1: has promised to enact a yearly election and install a new constitution of laws.
2: He has also stated that he will keep working to uncover all of Mr. Vallivalli's
hidden funds and strictly deal with them to the utmost degree.
3: Shut up, you impostor!
4: Ahhhh, I can't stand this!
5: If I don't do something about that bastard soon, I'll never be able to focus on
anything!
6: Almaaaa!
7: Where are you, Alma?!
8: Ohh, Alma..
9: Why such a scary face...?!

118)
1: I found a lot of female corpses in the kitchen freezer.
2: Oh, is that all...
3(2b): Those are all the sacrifices I used to summon you. Don't worry about it!
They were all filthy foreign whores to begin with.
4: More importantly, it's time for your first job.
5: Curse that Felix to death!
6: I've already finished the preparations.
7: Here's a wax doll of him...
8: and needles.
9: I've tried this numerous times myself, but for some reason, my chanting never
had any effect...
10(2b): You're missing something important: a piece of hair or a nail. Something
from that person's body is necessary...

119)
1: Mufufu...I thought you'd say that.
2: Let me show you my beloved collection, then!
3: It's second only to my own life!
4: The spies I've sent all over the world have worked hard to gather up personal
effects from leaders all over the world!
5(2b): A polyp Reagan had removed...skin from Gorbachev's head...and a piece of
Nakasone's hair. That one sure took a while...
6: etc, etc.
7: If all these world leaders died at once, the whole world would be thrown into a
panic...
8: Then if you and I teamed up and dashed in at that very moment, taking over the
world would be a cinch!
9: Wahahahaha!!

120)
1: But you know, there's an easier way to accomplish this instead of going through
all that.
2: What?!
3: Ufufu...
4(2b): Come on up...and have sex with me...
5: What are you talking about...?!

121)
1: Are you saying that if I have sex with you than I can inherit the world?!
2: Yes.
3: There's no way...
4: But...
5: Even if it isn't true, I suppose it's worth a try...
6: Ufufu...
7: Ohh, Alma...
8: You seductive, man-hungry witch...
9: Damn him!
10: I knew it...

122)
1: You cheater!!
2: Kyaah?!

124)
1: Where are we?!
2: Just as you wished, the world is yours.
3: What?!
4: This is the earth of the distant future...
5: Humanity has already died out, and you are the only survivors...
6: That can't be!
7: Rest at ease, the earth is currently reviving itself.
8: There is water, and if you work hard, you'll be able to find food, too.
9: Is this some bad joke?!

125)
1: You are both despots until die.
2: You traitor!
3: Even you're going to abandon me, too?!
4(2b): Come on and do something! How can you leave us in a place like this?!
5: Wait! Almaaa!!
6: Almaaaaa!
7: I'm sorry!

126)
1: I was wrong...!
2(2b): I'll repent for all my past sins! Just...please, help me!
3: Hey...!
4: You bow down too!
5: Kyaaah!
6: Are those words true...?
7: I promise!
8: Hm?
9(2b): Ahh?! Felix?!

127)
1: Kyaaaaah?! You!!
2: When did we...?!
3(3b): That's the tyrant who massacred 10,000 of our comrades! It's impossible to
forgive him now! Give him the death penalty!
4: The death penalty!
5: Hang him!!
6: Quiet, everyone!!
7: The terrifying days of washing away blood with blood are over...
8: As a testament to that, I will make you two the first people to receive the
grace of our new peace constitution.

128)
1: Now, hopefully I can sleep without any interruptions...
2: Good night...
3(2b): The new leader of the Sabbath Republic, President Felix, has shown mercy on
ex-President Vallivalli and his wife, and deported them, as a representation of
the birth of democracy that values human rights throughout the whole world.

Chapter VI 5 - Despot / End

I want to take your pictures!
6: Just once will be enough!
7: Sure...if you're fine with using someone like me...
8: Thank you.
9(2b): Okay, then the day after tomorrow...it's a promise!

89)
1-5: grin

90)
1: I'm sick and tired of this...
2: Of...what?
3: This agency job.
4: Shooting these kid models day in and day out...
5: Having to bow my head and thank those stuck-up little brats all the time...
6: I can't wait to go independent and shoot the photos I want to...
7: Well that's why you have to do your best right now!
8: You don't understand what it feels like...
9(2b): Oh, come on! That's all you ever say...

91)
1: Just bear it for now!
2(2b): The loan on this apartment, school fees...we don't have time to be complaining about things like that.
3: What happened to my life...
4: Just where did I go wrong...?
5: Come on! Say goodnight to papa!
6(2b): Papaaa! Papaaa!
7: Good niiight!
9: Don't forget your promise, papa!
10: Promise...?
11: Oh, would you get it together already?!
12(2b): You promised to take them to an amusement park the day after tomorrow, on your day off! Oh yeah...I forgot!

92)
1: Sorry
2: for calling you out so suddenly...
3(2b): I finally got a day off, but then I got stuck into doing some family service...oh my...
4(2b): I'm impressed...so you really are fulfilling your duties as a father after all.
5(2b): Yeah...I guess...to me, though, they're duties and nothing more...

93)
1: Are you...married?
2: Never thought about it...
3: But a beautiful woman like you must get approached by men all the time, right?
4: Don't you have a boyfriend right now?
5(2b): Well...I did have one in the past...
6: But what does that matter?

94)
1: Hmmm...
2: Guess I'm not a total failure after all...

95)
1: Huh?!
2: A man's corpse...
3: How can that be...?!
4: I didn't notice when I was shooting...

96)
1: Oh my God!
2: I'm not lying!
3: You can see it right in the photo.
4: There was someone aiming at you with a pistol from the bushes back there!
5: I'm worried about you.
6: I'm going to come over right now.

97)
1: This is a side-effect from the trip game.
2: Eh?!
3: As we continued our games, some kind of changes must have occured in your brain, unsealing abilities that you were unable to use up until now.
4: Like thoughtography...
5: In other words, your subconscious desires were directly infused onto the film in a symbolic state...
6: The pistol represents your masculinity.
7(2b): And the male corpse represents your desire to have me all to yourself...I suppose...fufu...
8: You've got to be kidding me!

98)
1: How could I believe something so ridiculous...
2: Cheese!
3: What are you doing...?
4: Hurry up and take the picture!
5: Ah...

99)
1: clack!
2: I don't know...
3: It defies explanation.
4: You mean something happened to my brain...?!
5(2b): No, that can't be! It was right in the actual photo!
6(2b): A photo taken by a camera! How could I control a machine?

100)
1: Looks like the side-effects are progressing...
2: Maybe...
3: You're projecting your own future into these pictures...
4: Impossible...
5: I can't believe that...
6: Let's make this the last time we meet...
7: At this rate, you'll only end up making your family suffer...
8: Make it one more time...
9: I want to trip with you...

101)
1: Please...
2: Alright...
3: Just relax...
4: Concentrate all your nerves into your forehead.
5: Don't think about anything...
6: Alma...
7: I want to be with you!
8: I love you...

102)
1(2b): So the photos are true...I could throw away my whole family if it just meant being with you!
2: You can't do that...
3: I possess...
4: many secrets that cannot come to light...
5: As you once said...
6: I am not a normal human...

103)
1(2b): No matter what you may be, my feelings cannot lie!
2: I don't think I could ever forget you...for the rest of my life...
3: I'll erase your memories, then...
4: What?!
5: It looks like that's the only way...
6: Papa!
7: Come on, hurry it up!

104)
1: Okay, don't rush me!
2: Hurry! Hurry!
3(2b): It's been such a long time since we all went on a drive as a family! I'm just so happy!
4: Huh?!
5: Was there a girl that beautiful in our building?!
6: Come on!
7: Ow...
8: Letting your eyes stray is the prime way to cause an accident!
9: Sorry.

Chapter VI 4 - Trip Game / End

She also understands my paintings well.
2(2b): The townspeople pry on and on because of our age difference, but...it won't matter what I try and say to people who don't understand my paintings.
3: I...
4: and constantly thanking the God that embodies the bond between my wife and I, and nothing more.
5: My passion as a painter symbolizes the total devotion of my body and soul to the spirit of the Lord.
6: It's like being in a mental state similar to Christ's 12 Disciples.

16)
1: Mmmmm...

17)
1: Welcome.
2(2b): Excuse me...would you mind giving me a bit more sleeping aid?

18)
1: This is really against the law, you know.
2: I am deeply indebted.
3: This worsening insomnia only adds to my problems...
4: Is something wrong?
5: The truth is, I have started on a new piece...
6: A great work that could rival even "The Last Judgment" of Michaelangelo.
7: How wonderful...I would love to see it.
8: I can't seem to move forward, however.
9(2b): The problem is a very important part of the piece: the image of "Hell"...I don't want to make it look too fantastic...
10: I want to paint a perfect image of Hell!
11: There are dealers who have denied me personal exhibitions due to the religious imagery in my work being too strong...
12: And other critics laugh at me, saying I'm only emulating the religious paintings of Europe...

19)
1: I want to create something that will wipe those smirks off their faces...
2: A genuine Hell, that greatly exceeds the imagination of humanity...
3(2b): If I could see it right before my eyes, it'd be perfect, but...to be honest, I don't think it's going to happen...
4: How lamentable...
5: It doesn't seem like I will be able to break through this wall...
6(2b): Alright then...I'll show Hell to you.
7(2b): Hahaha...it's not nice to tease your elders, now...
8: Wait just a moment.

20)
1(2b): Oh, enough with the jokes...what are you saying you can do with something like this...?
2: Can you promise not to regret it?
3: Within this crystal, you will see the Hell you seek.
4: Even if it greatly changes your life,
5: can you promise not to regret your decision?
6: I promise...
7: Then, by my guest...

21)
1: Ohhhhhhh...
22)
1: Is your husband still drawing these things?
2: These scribbles won't earn a penny.
3: Of course not, it's simply what he does to amuse himself...
4: If you don't finish things up soon, he'll run the inheritance dry.
5: Don't worry.
6: The cost for his art supplies haven't put the slightest dent in it...

23)
1: I...got this manor appraised in secret.
2: Even with a low estimation, it's apparently worth 500,000,000...
3: Was that your goal from the start?
4: What was yours?
5: Me? It's time for today's main event.

113)
A: Emperors throughout history have always strived to keep two things alive more than anything else: "bread and entertainment," both of which the masses have constantly anticipated.
A: In this case, festival days featuring events such as these numbered over 200 a year.
A(2b): Not even this much bloodshed was enough to appease the desires of most of those in power, though, and so they would nightly engage in even more atrocious and decadent self-indulgent pleasures...
A(2b): The Tyrants Nero, Tiberius, Caracalla, and Caligula...they're all your superiors.
R: Ahh?!

114)
A: Something wrong?
R: What's going to happen to them...?!

115)
A(2b): They're all Christians who have been sentenced to death, and will become prey for starving beasts.
L: grrrrr
sfx: gara gara gara
R: Stop them!!

116)
sfx: doooooon
R: Uwahh!
sfx: zuzuzuzuzu

117)
R: What's happening?!
A: A volcano is erupting!
R: Volcano?!
R(3b): I see...I thought I had seen that mountain somewhere before...Mount Vesuvius!
R: That means this place is...?!
sfx: dokan!

118)
R: Pompeii!!
R(2b): Oct. 24, 79 AD! On this day, the entire city of Pompeii was instantly buried under volcanic ash and lava!
A: Rudou! Where are you going?!

119)
A: Why did you save her...?

120)
sfx: guoooohhh
sfx: hyuuuuun
sfx: gan!
sfx: dogah

121)
sfx: waaaaah
R(2b): Let's try not to get caught up in all the panic. As long as we don't get in a hurry, we should be fine...according to history, 90% of the citizens were saved, after all.
R: Hang in there!

122)
Mount Vesuvius

Located on the coast of the Bay of Naples in eastern Italy that brought upon the death of 10,000 to 25,000 people in 79 AD. It has been recorded as erupting approximately 50 times since, including a particularly devastating one in 1631 which buried many villages under lava flows and killed roughly 3,000 people.

A: Hey, Rudou, let's rest for a bit.
R: No! If we waste too much time, the toxic gas might reach us.

123)
Pompeii

Fell under Roman rule in 89 BC, and became a prosperous center of both agriculture and business, and also flourished as a health resort for Roman aristocrats. Pompeii has often been called a miniature version of Rome's golden age.

A: I'm fine, but that girl...

124)
R(3b): Fine...luckily, there seems to be a water supply here. Let's stop for a moment.
A: You're really showing me a side I didn't expect to see.
sfx: hyuuun
A: Watch out!

125)
sfx: gushan!
R: Youko!!

126)
sfx: dotah!
P: Hey! What's wrong?!
P: Hey!

127)
P: What happened?
P: We're not sure. He just suddenly fell unconscious when speaking with his visitor.
P: Could this be a chronic disease?
P: We don't have any records of something like that.
P: He seems to merely be sleeping now, though. His pulse and blood pressure are both normal.
P: Hmmm...I suppose there's no need to call a specialist, then...
P(2b): Tomorrow is supposed to be the next day of the trial...we'll just have to tell them it isn't possible for him to make it.
G: In order to fully perceive the complicated structure of the defendant, Rudou Reiji, as a human, we would like to take this opportunity to introduce an extremely important witness to the trial.
G(2b): We believe this witness's testimony may have the power to completely overthrow the defense side's theory of the defendant's loss of sanity and weakened mental state during the period of the crimes.

128)
G: Now then, would the witness, Kamizono Youko-san please come to the stand?
Y: I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God.

Chapter III 2 - Leap / End

This is no more than personal opinion.
J: Objection sustained.
J: However, I approve of this video as far as showing proof of the defendant's motives goes.
J: Additionally, in the video, he said the "ninth" victim...but according to our evidence, there were only eight sacrifices...
G: Yes...
G: We expect that this is either a mistake in the defendant's memory, or that he still has some currently unidentified crimes left...
G: We would like to confirm that here and now in this public trial.
J: The defendant, Rudou Reiji...
R: Yes.

88)
J: Do you really believe that things like demons and witches exist in this world?
R(2b): Just like I've said many times before, I have succeeded in summoning a demon, and exchanged words with a witch. Also...
R(2b): I doubt you will believe me, but...Judge!
R: Prosecutor!
R: Lawyer!
R: And all of you in the audience!
R: As shameless as it may seem, at this very moment, that witch...

89)
R: is among us!
G: Your honor!
G(4b): From this insane declaration right now, I think it's become rather clear that my client is not only a fanatic believer, but also a man possessing an irrational concept of right and wrong. Along with that, we have accused him of natural insanity. I think it is rather easy to understand that at the time of these crimes, he had already long since lost any sort of sanity, and was acting under a state of severe mental illness.
G: Therefore...
G: I request that my client receive intense psychiatric examination!

90)
P: You have an interview!

91)
R: Your traitor...
A(2b): Hohoho...that's some greeting. After I went out of my way to come see you...
A(2b): It looks like you admitted to all your crimes. I was really surprised, though...I didn't expect you to keep such a straight face in court...
R: I had no choice.
R: Since you set me up...
A: Don't worry.
A: To him, our conversation just sounds like everyday talk.

92)
R: It was because you set me up without any defense...
A: Don't misunderstand. I haven't done anything.
R: Then who's the one who hid Mariko's corpse?!
A: Well of course I did that. It'd be strange if there were two Natsukawa Marikos, wouldn't it?
R: You aren't Mariko!
A(2b): That's right...I'm Alma. And now, I've just woken up from a long slumber...
R: Thanks to me...
A(2b): I don't like being waken up, so please excuse my unsociability.
R: Morals and a sense of duty exist even in the demon world, right?
R(2b): I made a pact with you. Do something already!
A: What do you want? If your psychiatric examinations go the right way, you'll be declared innocent.
R: What I want isn't something meager like that!

93)
R: I want "The Philosopher's Stone" in my hands!
P: It's time.
R(3b): The stone! Teach me the secrets of the stone! As long as I can get my hands on that, I won't need anything else.
R: I'll cut all my ties with you!
R: Almaaa!

94)
G: Witness, Shimabara Masao!
G: How would you explain the misunderstanding and falling out that happened between you and the defendant, Rudou Reiji?
G: Allow me to question you about the details, then.
G: What were the motives for the other four killings?
M: Those...
M: happened when we kidnapped the third child...I think.
M: The child kept crying, and we couldn't keep my hands on him...
M: So he...
M: he took a machete and...
M: suddenly...

95)
M: stabbed it down into the child's brain.
M: The child died instantly...
G: Continue.
M: P...please forgive me...
M: No more, I...
M: I just can't go on...
M: Uuuaaah....
M: Kuku...uuuuuuu...

96)
G: Well then, since the witness is no longer present, I'd like to provide a supplement to his testimony.
M: Uuuu...
L: Your honor!
L: This clearly goes against Judicial Rule 320, "Proof otherwise bounded in hearsay is not permissible!"
J: Judging from the witness's attitude just now...
J: in this case, there is more than enough situational assurance that this supplement will be believable.
J: Whether or not this proof will be admitted to the case will be decided later, but for now, I will permit you to supplement the testimony.
J: Please continue.
G: Yes, your honor.
G(2b): The truth is! Half of those eight poor souls that were preyed on...
G: actually became abominable sexual sacrifices to fulfill the defendant, Rudou Reiji's perverted sexual desires!!

97)
G: To Rudou Reiji, the screams and agonizing groans of his sacrifices trapped in the basement gave him a feeling of pleasure far better than any orgasm...
G: He also mentioned that one time, when he cut off a victim's head with his knife and saw all the lukewarm blood pouring out, that it gave him a feeling of extreme pleasure...
G: He also enjoyed cutting open the stomach of one boy, pulling out his guts and smelling the stench of his innards...
G: as well as smashing open the head of one other boy's with a bat and watching the brains splatter across the room.
M: Stop it!!

98)
G: As you can see...the defendant had absolutely no concept on how to stop his malicious deeds.
G(2b): I believe that his accomplice, Shimabara Masao's rebellious attitude toward the defendant comes from a mixture of sympathy, disgust, and fear toward what has been done.
G: After the crimes were committed, and the defendant's lust was temporarily subsided and once again supressed into a comatose state...Shimabara Masao was left to clean things up.
G: This is the hair-raising truth that was hidden with those eight indescribable corpses...
G: ...that we dug up from the ground in that basement.
G: Your honor!

99)
G: Please observe the hearts of the grieving families before you.
A: Looks like you're really in trouble now...

100)
A(2b): Alright. I'll teach you the secrets of "The Philosopher's Stone."
R: What?!
A: "The Philosopher's Stone" grants the bearer a broad superhuman ability...
R: Superhuman ability...?!
A: Anyone who uses this secret art will become freed from the concept of death, and in turn gain the power to conquer even time itself.
R: Immortality and eternal youth?!

101)
A(2b): Throw away all mundane concepts like that here and now. This power doesn't transcend death, nor does it negate it.
A: The most simple way to think of it would to be imagining yourself living in a completely extrasensory world.
A(2b): And then, through constant contact with the outside world, your consciousness only expands, until you are able to perceive the objective world only through its dynamic and organic connections to yourself...
A: "The Philosopher's Stone" is yours...
R: Wait a minute! I don't understand a word you're saying...

102)
A(2b): Don't worry, just do as I say...bring your head closer to mine...
A: Closer...
A(2b): That's it...now, I'm going to stimulate all the subconscious abilities lying dormant in your frontal lobes.
A: Clear your mind of all thoughts!
A: Become insentient, and concentrate all your energies in a single spot on your forehead.

104)
Chapter III 1 - The Philosopher's Stone / End

In order to conquer this unrest, the church shifted the blame to heretics, and from the end of the 12th century to the beginning the 18th century, a mass inquisition was carried out in the form of a witch hunt.

The inquisition's violence was intensified during end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century, during the end of the Protestant Reformation. The number of witches burned up during this period is said to total in around 9,000,000.

The Old Testament - "Exodus"
Chapter 22, Verse 18:
"Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live."

10)
Witchcraft Trials

In order to determine whether a witch has made a pact with the devil, they were to be stripped naked and had every hair shaved from their body. Private areas that were normally not seen by the naked eye were inspected with great diligence. Then, if they were stabbed with needles and felt no pain nor shed any blood, they were considered to be witches.

11)
Following this, the thumbs of their right hands were tied to the big toes of their left legs, and they were to be thrown in rivers. If they sank, they were innocent. If they floated, they were guilty. This sorting method was thought to be very accurate, since the children of Satan were believed to be repelled from water.

Women suspected of being witches were often prosecuted based off secret information and rumors. After their trials, they were cruelly tortured and forced to admit their sins, then burned at the stake.

12)
Witches (An image of witches during a Black Mass)
-Jean Bodin, "De la demonomanie des sorciers"

1. They deny God and all religion.
2. They curse, blaspheme and provoke God with all despite.
3. They give their faith to the devil, and they worship and offer sacrifice unto him.
4. They do solemnly vow and promise all their progeny unto the devil.
5. They sacrifice their own children to the devil before baptism, holding them up into the air unto him, and then thrust a needle unto their brains.
6. They burn their children when they have sacrificed them.
7. They swear to the devil to bring as many into that society as they can.
8. They swear by the name of the devil.
9. They engage in incestuous adultery with spirits.
10. They boil infants (after they have murdered them unbaptising them) until their flesh be made potable.
11. They eat the flesh and drink the blood of men and children openly.
12. They kill men with poison.
13. They kill men's cattle.
14. They betwitch men's corn, and bring hunger and barrenness into the country; they ride and fly in the air, bring storms, make tempests, et cetera.
15. They engage in venery with a devil called Incubus, even when they lie in bed with their husbands, and have children by them, which become the best witches.

13)
Mephisto

Chapter I - The Legend of Alma

14)
B: At the end of the 16th century, Jean was acting as a doctor in the countryside of the French province Lorraine, currently boiling his blood over research on the disease known as the Black Death which was plaguing people all around.
B: Just around that time, his beloved wife Madeline fell victim to the plague, leaving him to curse his own uselessness while lamenting his loss.
B: As he wandered through this abyss of despair, he eventually caved in and resorted to signing a pact with the devil, through the help of the forbidden art of black magic.

15)
J: Satan, my demonic emperor!
J: Please write my name into your black books.
J: If there is any hope of saving my wife Madeleine, I shall offer my life to you.
rooster sfx: Morning!
B: The next thing he knew, Jean found himself in the middle of a barren field.

16)
B: The massive goat, the witch, the vapors that had made him feel like vomiting, the farm women who had invited him in to the Sabbath...
B: They had all vanished like mist...it was as if it had all been an illusion.
J: Was it real, or was I merely dreaming...?
B: Several days later, though, after returning home, Jean was greeted by his wife Madeleine, who had completely recovered from her illness.
M: Dear!
B: While welcoming this unforeseen turn of events, he also realized that this meant his life would soon be taken, and cemented his resolve.
J: So the sabbath that night really did happen...

17)
B: However, after that, no sign of any demons coming to claim his life appeared, and peaceful days continued on just as always.
B: Finally, despite having given up any hopes of pregnancy long ago, Madeleine found out she was to bear a child,
B: and so Jean was tortured by constant nightmares.
upper left text (right side): The child will be born as an offspring of the devil!
upper left text (left side): The child will be born as a devout servant of the devil!
B: It was, without a doubt, the condition the devil had placed upon Jean's pact.

18)
B: Unable to bear it any longer, he called upon three pious monks to perform an exorcism.
B: The exorcism only appeared to aggravate the demon's condition, though, and Jean's wife Madeleine ended up dying at the end of a painful, abnormal birth.
B: And so, as if to clearly prove the reality of the situation, a demonic seal that looked like a scar in the shape of a snake appeared across stomach of the child, who had had a healthy birth and was making noise in high spirits.
B: Jean, suffering in misery of the weight of his sins, had all his energy sapped away by his own agony, and left this world forever.
J: Do not allow the villagers to suspect that you are a witch...
B: This happened on his sole daughter Alma's 10th birthday.

19)
B: The days and months went on, and the matured Alma took up her father's job serving the sick in her village.
B: That wasn't all, though -- through alchemy, she produced gold and secretly distributed it to starving farmers.
B: This, coupled with her beauty, caused rumors of Alma to spread all through the Lorraine region.
B: It was no surprise, then, that word of this woman reached the ears of Nicolas Remy, the region's magistrate.

20)
B: In 1575, Remy was promoted from the position of Lieutenant General of Vosges to secretary to Duke Charles III of Lorraine. After making a name for himself through his service to the duke, he gained the seat of magistrate and chief public prosecutor.
B: Having acquired a virtual license to kill, Remy devoted all of his energy to the exposure of witchcraft, and fully exercising his unscrupulous, fanatical arm toward brutal witch subjugation.
B: Before long, Alma was suspected of being a witch after healing all of the sick in her village, and was imprisoned until the day of her trial was decided.

21)
B: Alma's fortune was seized and split between the inspector, the priest, and the magistrate himself.
B: In this way, witch hunts were also a profitable business venture.
R: It is my dream to one day see every witch in this land burning to death all at the once.
R: Wahahaha!!
R: Mmmmm...how beautiful.
F: Don't be fooled by outward appearances!

22)
sfx: biri biri
F: Look here!
F: This scar means that she is a witch who has signed a pact with the devil...
F: And the fact that when she's stabbed here with a needle, no blood comes out, is all the more proof!
B: There was a trick to using these pins in a way so that they would only sink into the flesh.
B: It is said that pinners would master this technique in order to sell off women as witches and make fortunes in return...
R: Strip her down and strap her onto the table!
M: Yes sir!

23)
F: Witches raise their familiars using their own blood, so the instrument she uses should be hidden somewhere in her body.
F: If we can't find it on the surface...
F: This place looks suspicious!
A: Uuuu...
R: Mmmmm...
R: But I doubt a mere finger will reach all the way inside...

24)
R: Well, Alma...? There is now longer any reason to doubt the suspicions surrounding you.
R: If you still insist on claiming your innocence, though,
R: we'll just have to torture the witnesses we already gathered up.
B: Through the black magic witches possess, escaping from such disgrace was thought to be an extremely easy task for them.
B: If that was to happen, though, the authorities were prepared to crucify innocent people as punishment.

25)
B: Alma allowed herself to be made into a witch, and this self-sacrifice and love that filled her mind was, on the contrary, something much more similar to white magic.
B: In the end, the witch Alma bid an eternal farewell to this era.

26)
B: After all, no matter how one acted in a time like this, where the average person was controlled by absolutist theories and delusions, it always came down to a matter of fire and oil.
B: Trouble like this wasn't anything Alma had wished for.

27)
B: To witches, though, physical "death" is truly like the gestation that gives birth to new "life."
B: After escaping through a spiritual body, they go retroactively upstream to the primordial world, and become one with a universal consciousness.
B: In other words, they leave on a journey that transcends the intricate simulacra of both time and space...

Chapter I - The Legend of Alma / End
