４ あらすじ The Story So Far
かつて大陸で “悪魔契約”を駆使した忌まわしい戦争、『代理契約戦争（ヴァルバニル）』があった。 それから４４年ーー。 騎士団に所属する元貴族の娘セシリー・キャンベルは街で、ルークと名乗る謎めいた鍛冶屋の男と出会う。 A terrible war once raged across the Continent, its participants freely employing the demon contract. It came to be known as the War of the Contract, or Valbanil. 44 years have passed since then. Cecily Cambell, the daughter of former nobility and a knight in the Knight Guards, met a mysterious man who called himself Luke while out in the city.
ルークのつくる“刀”に惹かれたセシリーは、己の器が刀をつくるに足るかどうかを判断してもらうため、騎士団の盗賊掃討の遠征にルークとその助手のリサを誘う。 しかし、遠征先にて現れたのは人外の獣、そして禁忌とされたはずの悪魔だった。 Cecily, captivated by the "katana" made by Luke, and wishing him to judge whether she was worthy of having one made for her, invited Luke and his helper Lisa on her Knight Guards company mission to destroy a gang of bandits. However, the expedition ran into unhuman beasts and a supposedly forbidden demon contractor.
初めて対峙する悪魔に最初は怯むが、ルークの活躍によって何とか悪魔を倒したセシリーたち。 そして、ルークはセシリーに彼女の剣を鍛えることを約束するのであった。 The troop initially faltered upon facing a demon for the first time, but thanks to Luke's heroic efforts, Cecily and company somehow managed to defeat that demon. Then Luke made a promise to Cecily to forge a sword for her.
遠征から帰還したセシリーは、盗賊達の目的が『市』で競売にかけられることになっている『魔剣アリア』だと告げられる。 一方で、『市』の準備で浮き足立つ街の中で、暗躍する影があった・・・・・・・。 Upon her return from the expedition, Cecily was informed that the target of the gang had been "Demon Sword" Aria, an article meant for the marketplace auction.
