The thing that connects in flour is gluten and in order to get something that resemble what you generally eat, you need a dough with certain qualities, and one of those qualities is smoothness. Also eggs, that you can see in the picture, have a strong “connecting” qualities, as in the past, before we would discover petroleum, they were used to make glue. And by the way “gluten” and “glue” have the same root from Latin word “glus”, “to stick”\\
