SAIKE ONCE AGAIN VOLUME 10 END.

And that's volume 10 in the history books. I think this works a lot better than trying to keep up with it weekly since I have my work on the Shounen Sunday Blog. Although I love Fukuchi to pieces, I have to wonder about the placement of this arc in the scheme of things --the series had a lot of momentum going into Nepal and then the M arcs just to lose a lot of that with this arc --though the brothers themselves are hugely likable and the resolution was pretty strong. I feel like if Saike were a typically serialized series this might not have been too bad, but it's structure only makes the wait for new chapters that much more painful and then when we get an arc like this that doesn't have any foreseeable use on the plot (aside for the end) then it's like the waiting was for naught. With Saike struggling with sales now, I can't help but be concerned that this might have been an wasted opportunity. Of course Koutarou and Otsujirou could very well return and make this all worth it, but I dunno. Like I said though, t he brothers were a lot of fun, the resolution very reminiscent of Ueki which is a big plus to me, and Ana getting lots of screen time to show she's not just another token-girl-in-a-shounen-manga was nice. Volume 11 was a bit better too, and I look forward to bring that to you when it's released in February. (I think.) Until then.
