I was hoping that Aizen would actually be killed by Gin, and that Gin would end up being the actual "final boss", as it were, since he's a more awesome villain than Aizen anyway.
I was expecting that, Aizen being Aizen and Kubo being Kubo, Aizen would somehow manage to godmod his way out of being killed. This would most likely result in Gin dying, but I did have my hopes up that even if Aizen survived, Gin would still somehow manage to stay alive and relevant by virtue of how awesome he is.
What I wasn't expecting (although considering this is Kubo we're talking about, I suppose I should have) was that Gin would actually be retconned into a good guy, thus heavily diluting his awesomeness and reducing his chances of harming Aizen to minus infinity at the same time.
