He's the one that grew them. All of our fruits, and the orchard that burned down.
I called him here to protect our fruit.
Shuu: So the plant artisan we were never allowed to meet befo~~~re
suddenly just shows up... just to chat? Is that what you're suggesting?
Jou: The Higashikata estate was attacked
because a 'branch' of an incredibly valuable fruit called a 'Rokakaka' was in the burned orchard.
Everybody was after it, and then the orchard was lit on fire, and then a fire engine came.

I couldn't see their faces,
but they took the 'Rokakaka'.

That's our time limit for retrieving the "Rokakaka". Seeing as if the branch bares fruit, it's over.

The Rokakaka fruit will start being processed.

Rai: If you do a 'graft' of the branch to a "cactus", then it's possible.
Grafting makes branches prone to getting diseased... Taking that risk into account,
putting it in a potted plant is a logical course of action.
It's likely hidden somewhere, grafted to a potted 'cactus'.

Rai: And it wasn't 'The ones in the ambulance'.
Poor Tom only came to the orchard because it was on fire. ["because" in italics]
Poor Tom came in order to prevent the 'branch' from being destroyed in the fire or recovered by us.

Rai: After seeing the whole family together just now, I figured it out.
The culprit is "Joubin".
"Joubin" lit the orchard on fire.

Well, he definitely has some views that differ from Norisuke-san's.
But be that as it may, he wouldn't try to burn the 'Rokakaka' branch. He wants it, too.
Also... Poor Tom's attack was against the entire Higashikata family! If he'd gone outside, he would've died.
