well, i took the page with Andie and colored it with my copics. i tried to stick to Komi's style of coloring. here's what i came up with.
enjoy!

Now I just love Farran even more. They are all quite funny. On the chapter 20 omake, was that Sui lurking in the corner when he only had cherry's left?

Also, Andie-san looks bad fricken ass. Alas, a great character we never got to meet.

BTW, awesome coloring Neji.

Yeah, all stalker-like:XD

Farran's flag otaku side is lovable, but I wonder if there's something behind it... like maybe he didn't have much of a childhood and he's making up for lost time.

Nah, I think it was just there as a gag and to humanize him a bit. I'd be upset otherwise, not everything must or should tie into a sob-story childhood. I'm not against sob-story childhoods (I'm a fan of One Piece, for crying out loud) but having every little character trait tie into a back-story feels like overemphasis, and it gets annoying to have things like that constantly thrust in your face. It feels like the author is trying to connive his/her way into getting a reaction from you instead of actually telling a story well. Of course, whether it was a gag or a back-story tie in, we'll never know now that the series was canceled, so I guess it's a moot point anyway.

This forum is HUGE. I've never seen a manga get so much love after it has been cancelled.

Double Arts & Komi Naoshi have a pretty devoted goup of fans outside of Japan, and with the fact that until just yesterday, we still had new stuff to look forward to. and everytime something new came out from the Tank's we got all fired up again. but with Vol 3 being the final release for the series. despite the fact that yesterday was release of the Edited Mangas for the Vol 3 Omake, it's still sad that it was really cancelled, form poor reviews from those in Japan.

but every week, i looked forward to the relese of the RAW's and Edited Mangas then i'd go off and update the now defunct wikipage.

but even so, i went and got Volumes 1&2 for Christmas and i hope to get Vol 3 for my birthday next month. just to show my support for his works. (even though i cant read but a few words.)

i hope he gets another serialization soon. but i have yet to hear of any new ones-hots or new series. but after 2 one-shots in the past 4 months, he must have something planned or upcoming.

With any luck, he'll come out with something new by the next round of cuts for Jump (which might be around early summer of late spring). :)

DArts' end is open enough to get picked up again one day when the mangaka is rice and famous enough to not be rejected by any magazine. Don't give hope up just now :shakefist

I think, it's not even finished. How Elle said in the end? "The story about his journey will end for now. I may continue it some other time..."
I guess, this is a promise of Komi Naoshi to continue this manga in future :wtf

I still think Island was one of the best One Shots I have ever read. Naoshi has what it takes, the editors just need to give him a chance.

see it's more the contrary as i see it. the editors loved Naoshi, hence the second cover. it was their half assed attempt to learn to promote stuff. but for his debut series Naoshi really had such a vague idea of the pace it should have, or where it should go each chapter. the sorta thing that's a major offput to the jump voters and such. the sales for the volumes woulda kept it going i'm sure, but for whatever reason i think the editor's may have pulled him so he can learn how to remedy such gaping flaws in his serialised manga

but then aimless speculations something we all use too much XD

Playing the devil's advocate (I always seem to be on the side of the evil:XD) - I think it's finished in the sense that Komi-sensei basically gave away the ending. If he ever does pick it up again, there won't be the same sense of drama or suspense because we know that
Elle, at least, is going to make it. It's a bit morbid but one of the things I did wonder during the series run was whether Elle would survive, since at first she was narrating from somewhere in the middle of the series. Even if Kiri did promise to never let her hand go, she never made that same promise (pledging to fight alongside him is entirely different) - and was always ready to throw her life away for others.

He also took care to wind up the relationship stuff. I'm pleased with how it turned out but at the same time again, there just isn't going to be the same suspense of will they or won't they. Ya know?;)
That's not to say that it's entirely outside the realm of possibility, seeing as One Piece is still going strong despite Oda's own massive spoiler.:XD

well the fact that it's been 5 months since DA's cancellation and we've added several pages since then, it is a possibility. assuming we have something more to say than "i wish it would come back" for 36 more pages...lol. and we've only got about 40 posts or so to reach 1000 posts.

ever since i asked about the Vol 3 Omake, it's picked up again and already gained 2 pages.

and i found a archive of Komi's wiki page, but still nothing on Double Arts..

Edit:
Google has the DA wiki page cached here

Is there ANY precedent for that? I mean, I've never heard of a manga-ka going back and restarting a successful series after becoming popular. If it's happened before, then I suppose it could be possible.
