Again, the comparison is with Kagijin and Akaboshi. Like To Love Ru, Medaka is targeting an older audience. The degree doesn't matter but Medaka does have considerably more fanservice then anything in Jump other then Ane Doki. If it comes down to Kagijin and Akaboshi, which appeal to a middle school demographic that is only represented by Jump, or Medaka Box with potential appeal to a demographic that Jump does very poorly with, Medaka Box will survive. The fact is that there are three to four (if Waji truly is doing poorly) series that are struggling. If the editors were to save one, Medaka is the only one that makes sense from a business perspective.
Don't forget: Kentaro was already a well known mangaka when he started ToRa. That probably was why it started in the middle.
