I never watched LoTR properly, but this I know: Legolas is the most perfect elf I have ever seen in life. How can I not love him?





Ah, yeah, I've heard it is adapted from a novel, just not sure if that's what you meant.

Legolas made me fall in love with archers.

Then you'll be happy to know that Legolas is coming back at the end of this year.

The end is rather.. unsatisfying, no?

WATCH IT! (though I don't read the books. Never had the courage. It might ruin my impression on the movies.)

What does Avengers have to do with this?

I felt bad for Susan. That's why the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe will always the best book of the series.

I didn't intend to watch it too when it was first released (coz I read a small bit of its book before and it confused me greatly so I though the movie wouldn't be better). But then one day, I got bored and the movies were played in HBO so I watched it to kill boredom. Hours later, all I could talk about was Legolas.

They picked the right actor to play Legolas.

The Hobbit, of course. At first, I only knew that Martin Freeman and Beneditt Cumberbatch (Watson and Sherlock from Sherlock) would be there, so I thought I would watch it for the sake of seeing them. But even then, I wasn't that interested, but then... I read that Legolas is going to be there and suddenly it becomes top priority in my watch list.

You mean the Return of the King? I think it's quite enjoyable, but I do not understand what are you referring to with the eagles.

The giant eagles who beat the Nazguls and saved Frodon and Sam from the Mount Doom's eruption, remember ? The last action scene before the very long happy ending.

The end was good in the book, but I found some scenes...too much like when Frodon and his hobbits friends are celebrating in the bed in the movie for example. Besides the end of Sarouman was a bit different (he still had a role in the very end of the book) but well who cares.

Oh, I see. Well, I can't say that it's the best ending I've ever watched since it didn't leave much impression on me, but I can say that it's good enough for an epic story like this. I can't compare it to the book too since I don't read them.

The movies don't highlight the same things as the books anyway. Perfect example is Helm Deep. Barely a dozen of pages in the book, yet it has become the main dish in the 2nd movie. So in the end of the day : read the books AND watch the movies. However be careful with the beginning of the first book, very very descriptive, since Tolkien is building the universe.

I'd say that the end in the book is better because there is a nice little adventure arc in the Hobbit country, related to Sarouman.

Yeah but the writing style is utterly pedantic...not so much the case in The Hobbit actually. But the LoTR books have an great mythos, but a lot of it just cumbersome to read.

I feel like I've heard that name before, but not sure where.

I tend to prefer checking the original works, but when I can't I'll just choose the movie and NOT check the original work to prevent myself from being disappointed.
