Discussion Who will get Ace's Mera Mera no Mi (Fire) Devil Fruit?

I don't remember her having any such reputation. She's known for being undefeated, which doesn't necessarily make her powerful. Her friends were also shocked Luffy outsped Rebecca, which could indicate Rebecca's victory came from her speed, not because of power. They want so much for rebecca to join the sh that they will find countless stupid excuses to prove the logic statements wrong.
Now for the undefeated title she has i would say it would be after wining some rounds agaist average strenth arena fighters and not after defeating powerful foes and thats true because if you see in all the blocks, the normal arena fighters are the f1rst to fall and since she kinda had that look on her face like tashigi had with zoro to noones surprice its the face of someone who knows that his/her power is below the other and he/she cant accept that after luffy smashed spartan who no doubt was much stronger than rebecca otherwise she wouldnt be bothered at all.

Well, Spartan was called her "bully" and everyone was laughing at her which made her almost cry. So I won't be surprised if the whole "undefeated" thing is indeed sarcasm.

Becca wears little to no clothes covering her body, showing that she doesn't even have a scar, no harm done to her body before in the lethal tournament. Showing all those wounded men in the cells made that more than apparent.

Her being called undefeated or being a next strawhat has little to do with the topic at hand, seems like there is a parallel discussion in that thread.

I could see Rebecca being undefeated true though, if her speed gives her tremendous advantage. Not to mention, if she did lose, then she'd either be scarred or show some signs of being defeated. Again though, nothing indicates her ever getting mera mera no mi, especially when there's almost no benefit to it. Maybe it'd be useful if she became a queen, but if her fighting skills are limited, then any powerful enemy could beat her. If Blackbeard came after her, she'd be defeated almost instantly.

I dont think it wouldnt benifit her. Toy sodier said that he would train her but she said she didnt want to hurt anybody. So he taught him how to protect herself which means she is fast and can defend better than she attacks. But now she wants to kill doflamingo, which is why she wants to get the mera mera no mi, to get more attack power (and increase her speed further). And one more thing. People from all over the world want mera mera no mi because it grants so much power. So ofcourse rebecca would be way more powerful if she gets the fruit. Wether she stays back or goes with luffy is upto her. I would prefer a dwarf to become the next crewmember though, and a bird to get the fruit and become the crewpet.(phoenix)

Back to the off topic again: Rebecca is around Kalifa level at most, unless she joins the SH, given her the df is a big waste because she'll definitely loose it anyway if she chooses to stay back. A weak SH eats it might make more sense because s/he may use the fruit power to defend against multiple strong opponents, not to mention the big 3 use haki hence a new and weak logica user is still staying weak in the hierarchy power structure of the crew.

Sanji is the fastest swimmer and already said that he only wants to eat the invisibility fruit.
Zoro would lose his credibility as a swordsman if he ate the fruit. When he becomes the strongest swordsman people wil say "he is the strongest swordsman, BUT he uses a df power"

Zoro, Nami, Ussop, Sanji, Franky swim | Luffy, Chopper, Robin, Brooke + Samurai's drown. Its easy to confirm whether anyone else will get a DF. Has there been an arc where half to 3/4 have not almost drown since Skypeia? Half complain about having to save their useless swimmers, Sanji keeps having to do super deep dives to save the day, and Zoro can fight a fishman under water, Nami is the only one riding the horse jet ski.
However, I love the idea of crafting a DF to Ussop's weapon, as long as kabuto looks like a piranna plant from SM3.
This also makes me realize how does Franky swim, does he have a propeller in his .... never mind.

The more i think about it, the less i like the option of Rebecca getting the fruit. Like, for what will she even need it, when her whole motivation for getting it is revenge on DD and Luffy is already on his way to beat him anways.

Maybe the voting should be reset or at least get another option that says "no one", as it's also likely that Luffy will keep the fruit as a memento for Ace. Or he'll bury the fruit at his grave, or something like this.

Last, but not least: I'd really love to see Luffy somehow inhibit the fire powers. His gum powers are nice, but i think there won't be that much improvements as compared to the introduction of gears and the overall concept needs to be changed. It's very unlikely, that Luffy will eat the fruit though.

Rebecca metaphorically burning the puppeteers control over her country, her not taking part in the liberation would be weird, so there is your reason.

What's your reasoning behind Luffy "likely" keeping it? Burying the fruit, that would make so much more sense than actually strengthening his crew or alliance. _-

That's a weak reason, just for the fact, that Rebecca won't ever be powerful enough to beat DD. So it doesn't really matter, if metaphorical, or not, as she is "just" the Vivi of the current Arc. She has a role to play, but that is more likely a political thing, instead of fighting the DD Crew. Or at least DD and his commanders.

Well, Luffy want's to assure, that BB and no other tournament winner gets the fruit. Why would he then, after the strawhats defeated DD crew and Burgess, eventually, simply give it away? As i said it, the fruit already is a memento to Ace, for Luffy.
The strawhats don't need the fruits power. Every member already has his own fighting style. And Luffy isn't thinking about his alliance, as he is not a commander, but rather a captain. He wouldn't ever use the fruit to gain military strength.

Of course, everybody expects someone to eat the fruit in the end, but to me it's not the most appealing idea. Why all this fuzz about Ace at first, when you're just gonna trash it afterwards.

And in the end, this whole topic is already sounding like Naruto, where nothing matters, except the next power up and the whole plot only advances though power ups ...

Does this pic look familiar? If Oda is willing to power up Luffy, I'm afraid that mera mera is nothing but a fraction of piece of dust.

Luff, Zoro and all the df users in the SH are out of question, so the remaining members are Sanji, Franky, Nami, Usopp or a new member. Even though the probability of Sanji or Franky or Usopp eating one is way less than 0.1% but their chances are still higher than both Luffy and Zoro's probabilities combine. Nami is a very weak swimmer therefore it's no different if she can swim or not because she doesn't help much under water after all.

I think it should be either Sanji or Zorro. Luffy wants only someone he trust to have Ace's power. And a random person having it would be totally lame.
Sanji would be more favorable because he can walk on air and he does have a 'firery' personality. Zorro would be kool but, the fights he has under water is something I enjoy seeing.

All said and done if it so happens to go to a none crew member; Luffy best recruit their ass.

Luffy wants only someone he trust to have Ace's power. And a random person having it would be totally lame.

Sanji would be more favorable because he can walk on air and he does have a 'firery' personality. Zorro would be kool but, the fights he has under water is something I enjoy seeing.

Luffy has no problem creating trust with unknown/new characters.

Sanji would lose his ability to walk in the water, he also is the best swimmer of the crew.

I don't see Zoro or Sanji eating the devil fruit, nor would Sanji compromise his ability to swim when he's plenty strong. Usopp might get it, but he's also a useful swimmer and devil fruit would change him for the worse, IMO.

i would love to see coby get it, but i completely agree about zoro, he doesnt seem like the type that would want help from a DF for a power upgrade

he has too much pride in his sword fighting of course if he had a power like nico robin he could use several swords at once ....
