Reborn had a natural ending, as natural an awful writer like Amano can do.
Seems legit. The arc before the ending seemed like the final already, the final vilain and all. But, you know, the hope is the last that dies... Let's believe that she just didn't have time to make a decent ending. :lmao

I believe series like Beelzebub, Hitman Reborn and Nurarihyon no Mago didn't get cancelled, they just got somewhat rushed ending arcs due to declining popularity despite having been successful series. I wouldn't use the word "cancellation" for those situations.

IMO cancellation is a term that should be used to worse cases, like Shaman King. Its end came out of nowhere and the author was only able to give the story a real conclusion five years later.

Series that end with a color page in Jump didn't get cancelled, they got rushed ending arcs at worst. That's what happened with Beelzebub, Hitman Reborn and Nurarihyon no Mago (this last one didn't get a CP for the last chapter in WSJ, but it got three for the final chapters in Jump NEXT).

IMO cancellation is a term that should be used to worse cases, like Shaman King. Its end came out of nowhere, with no color page or anything else. The author was only able to give the story a real conclusion five years later.
But Sk got a color page for the last chapter...

It did? Sorry, I could swear that I had read that its last chapter was in last place. I corrected my previous post, thanks.

My opinion remains the same, but I'm sorry for providing false information.

Last chapter in the last place is not abnormal, Bakuman had its final chapter in the end of the magazine with color page. I'm sure it was not cancelled. :p

Belzebub was cancelled, there is no doubt about that. It never took its own plot seriously, but it had a great potential to expand the world.

Oh come on, Reborn wasn't cancelled. It had a proper ending final-battle-arc, it was a very natural ending that was predictable for a good 20 chapters before it came. No way it was cancelled.

(don't get me wrong, it was a totally shitty ending and I'm still pissed about the fact that Tsuna's character didn't develop at all, and everything Reborn did was pointless, but still... it ended naturally)

Shaman King was a cancellation, the series ended in nowhere. Saint Seiya was a cancellation, it ended one arc prior to its creator's original intentions.
Reborn!, Nurarihyon and Beelzebub weren't cancelled, they just finished because they couldn't become super top sellers, though in REBORN's case it was because it was once a very good seller but it had lost a lot of sales, probably because of its finished anime, that's what happened/it's happening to BLEACH and TORIKO, though BLEACH also lost a lot of fans because its quality is declining bad.

Toriko doesn't really feel like its close to finishing and wasn't the final arc for Bleach announced like 3 years ago?

Bleachs recent chapter is strongly suggesting and highly implying that its finishing by the end of spring.

I dont think Toriko finishing anytime soon is on anyones mind right now.

Final arcs can last any number of chapters. No one knows how long Bleach will go.

In the dictionary, it has a name: cancellation.
Every single series cancelled in Jump were cancelled because of what you just said. None of them was cancelled because they were top sellers.

If a fortune teller makes enough predictions, one of them will be correct eventually.

Back in February 2014

Ichigo is litrally right there in position for final battle, he just needs six chapters to fight, one chapter epilogue. I imagine the next four or five chapters after this week is just getting people in position. Theres nothing left to be done.
Also in February 2014
Well with its pacing it is still on a direct trajectory to end first half this year. Unless Kubo has some special arrangement there is no way it will still be around when issue #1, 2015 comes out.
Ill still remain bullish on my expectation that Bleach will end before we end Spring of this year.
Then you said Bleach would end in a few weeks in May 2014.

Bleach must be ending in a few weeks as hes finally including such terminology as final battle. I wonder if well be seeing a new battle action supernatural fantasy series added.
August 2014

That seems to lie directly in line with my expectations and further reinforces the idea for the ending of Bleach to end in the same time frame or even sooner.

Remember that Beelzebub's author said he finished things on his own terms. Pasting into Google translate will give you a decent translation.

You can flat out lie about it, but you should just read the entire interview.
Hmm... I would believe if there weren't more lies about series endings than truths.

Do you keep a file with all his "predictions" in your PC or what? :lmao

Beelzebub's ending wasn't abrupt, it was only disappointing. Tamura should have realized comedy is his forte, not bland action. Too bad that's what the last arcs of the manga were about.

Still, he is probably one of the few authors I'd like to see return to Jack.

@Leoat12:
Surely you must notice the difference between a cancellation and giving the authors some time to finish their works?
Saint Seiya was cancelled they didn't let Kurumada continue the story towards the planned Zeus arc, which was supposed to be the last.
Shaman King was cancelled it ended super abruptly.. I don't want to spoil it but it ended in the middle of an arc.

Something similar could be said abut Slam DUNK which had a similar ending to Shaman King, I won't spoil it but it ended in the middle of something BUT you acn definetly see it wasn't cancelled but more like the author wanting it to finish.
Same with Yu Yu Hakusho, the ending was abrupt BUT it wasn't cancelled, Togashi just felt like quitting.
Dragon Ball had an equally weird ending, but it wasn't cancelled.

If we go by your definition then every manga in JUMP that finishes would be a cancelled manga..

In the interview he says he didn't focus on either because he gets bored quickly and tends to want to switch to other things. It's his character.

From those you mentioned, I only think that Beelzebub was cancelled as you could have realized by the flow of the conversation. Reborn was just a bad ending, Nura have plenty of time to finish in the extra chapters in Jump Next and it ended properly. Beelzebub, on the other hand, was clerly cancelled. It had many things to happen and yet its final arc happened out of nowhere.
A manga is not cancelled from day to night, they notify the author beforehand, weeks before. It is up to the author brings something to end in the planned deadline.

Slam Dunk? Really? Inoue could continue or end there, it was the end of a phase in the manga, he chose to end. It was not a weird ending at all. As for the other mangas, I cannot say anything, I never read them.

Of course not. I said that every single manga that was cancelled was not top sellers and that's true or are you saying that there is a manga that was cancelled in the apex of its popularity? You can judge whether a series was cancelled or not based on its plot and current popularity.

That series that everybody hates and wants to see finished stayed in 2nd place and its limited edition sold more than Hinomaru Zumou. What a surprise, I didn't expect that. :derp

With this, it is 227.190 copies sold and more arriving. Haters gonna hate.
