I'm liking Player a good bit.

It's clearly going for the sort of late 80's action movie feel. And I think it hits that mark pretty well. If your going in expecting to be wowed by a complex narrative or nuance of any kind your probably destined to be disappointed. But if your going in looking for a weekly short action movie that doesn't take itself to seriously it provides that quite well.

My opinion of Blindspot raised a few notches this week when they actually progressed the lost identity story line. Now if it can just stop with the irrational anger all of it's characters seem to have it could be good. It just doesn't serve any purpose to have everybody yelling and everybody all the time. I mean, good lord, settle the hell down.

Im following Limitless and Quantico this season. Was considering Minority Report but it seems to be doing bad in ratings so I wont even give it a shot as it may get cancelled.

Still watch Jeopardy, Price is Right, and Wheel of Fortune.

So the new season of Gotham is pretty great so far.

Yes and it's confirming me again that the Joker is actually the easiest acting job. The guy playing "Jerome" is nailing it.

What do you make of the opening sequence?

Well, it's not really my own thoughts, rather the subreddit's...but I think it's pretty obvious that there's a strong sense of duality with it looking/sounding bright and sunny, but it actually being quite dark. It sort of goes right along with the opening, focusing on a new setting and a new family. It was all very lighthearted and funny at times, but something was very clearly off during the episode.

Really strong start to the season IMO. Most of the complaints I saw about the first season was it being so dour, so it was a nice change of pace and great way to introduce the new stuff. Just so much stuff to digest and think about, this is why I love Damon Lindelof.

imo the end of the scene was a reference to how Nora picked up Waynes kid in the season 1 finale.
I'm really hooked to see how this will tie in with the new mysteries that they set up for this place.
And how will the Guity Remnant fit into the show now?

Ah, yeah that was pretty interesting. Clearly a lot of symbolism there with her losing people and looking to a higher power for answers (the hawk).

They showed that the Guilty Remnant wasn't just a localized thing, so I'd imagine they'll be in the show somehow.

Though there tend to be two schools of thought on that book, those who love it's as a grittier less optimistic take on fantasy classics and those who loath how it's sterile and disillusioned magical world and self indulgent nihilistic characters saps any sense of wonder from the story. I was definitely of the latter camp.

Syfi is desperate for a show to be it's new Battlestar Galactica. This year it's The Magicians and Expanse.

The Magicians is awful and I feel sorry that a television audience, no matter how small, will have to experience the most nihilistic hipster fantasy of all time but I'm sure it's going to be cheap to make, since there is almost nothing in the book besides people sitting around being douches and complaining about how boring the world is when your as smart as they all think they are. Just thinking about that book fills my being with pure white hot hatred.

Wasn't a big Leviathan Wakes fan either, took itself a little to seriously with all the political stuff, but the Expanse is bound to look fantastic next to The Magician.

Wow Quantico is doing great, were getting even more episodes than planned.

ABC has given a full-season order to Priyanka Chopra’s “Quantico,” Variety has learned.

The pickup marks fall’s second new series to get a full-season order, following NBC’s “Blindspot,” which landed its back-nine order last week.

“Quantico” is an action-packed whodunit thriller that follows a diverse group of FBI recruits who have arrived at Quantico headquarters for training. The trainees are the best, brightest and most vetted so it seems impossible that one of them is suspected of masterminding the biggest terrorist attack on New York City since 9/11.

I'm desperate too for a new Battlestar Galactica. Or a new Stargate. Or a new Firefly ...
I had some real hope for Dark Matter but it quickly fade away. And Killjoys is a show without ambition. So yeah, still waiting. The last good show in scifi was for me the new version of V. But my attraction to Morena Baccarin might be part of the reason for it.

I still can't believe that I was able to bare with this for two seasons... what a waste of time.

The last good scifi I saw on TV was Black Mirror... and I'm really excited about the new episodes that Brooker will do for Netflix.

Doctor Who was pretty great a few years ago. That would probably be my most recent good Sci-Fi show.

Sadly, that isn't really true anymore. Ever since Steven Moffat took over as head writer from Russel T Davies he's been driving it into the ground. It's nearing the cancellation point now because, as good as he has been at writing Sherlock, he has been atrocious at writing Doctor Who.

I never started Doctor Who because I'm afraid that it will swallow too much of my time once I've gotten into it. :-D

Moffat has his ups and downs... the third season of Shelock was way too self-referential for my taste.

It does but it's worth it. Especially the relatively short first season starring Christopher Eccleston; that is like 10 episodes if I remember right. Getting though David Tennants run is a much bigger time commitment but a fun one.

Moffats problem with Doctor Who is that he goes for big moments but doesn't really do anything else well. He doesn't build a foundation of good characters. He doesn't really care if his plotting stands up to logic. Worst of all he's very willing to tear up what other writers have established in order to do his own thing. So it's kinda like his focus is entirely on the short term and what he wants to do with an episode while he wrecks the long term appeal of the series.

I like Doctor Who but it is one of the most unbalanced tv serie in terms of quality. It's sometimes great (first episode of this season for example) and sometimes attrocious (the submarine episodes of this season). I'm among the few who like the latest doctor and Clara. Clara lacks on the emotional side but she is funny ... and cute. The latest doctor is nuts and pretty cool (maybe he is trying too hard but for me it's working). Missy is an awesome character and when she is involved, I instantly like the episode.

Walking Dead season 6 episode 2 was really great!

Reading the comics can help with the "starting to lose me" part.
