@Ihore You just... Woow I was basically gonna say the same thing! We have pretty much the same tastes, one of my all time favorites is Hoshin Engi too!
@lobito180
I will enlist a series of what I consider JUMP Classics, works that pretty much defined their generation, I made this list based of the popularity, copies sold and in some cases I choose a series over other perhaps more popular series in order to represent a genre, specially in the case of gag manga/romcom, e.g. perhaps manga like Sakigake Otokojuku or Jojo sold more than Video Girl Ai, but I wanted to have more diversity.
I haven't read all of the mangas from that list, especially the mangas that are from the first generation, but I think all the mangas that I put from
1988 to 1996 except for Rokudenashi BLUES are fully scanlated and are all excellent picks from each of their genres, their art doesn't look 'old' at all, not saying mangas from the 60s-80s have bad art, but perhaps if you are used to seeing/watching new anime you will find their art pretty old looking, also manga from this generation (1988-1996) aren't extremelly long like today's most popular manga, so IMO if you want to start reading some good classics you can start with that generation.
Series listed with
green are comedy, blue represents sport series, pink means the series is a romantic comedy or has ecchi elements to it (Harenchi Gakuen), while everything else I listed under black.

Notes:
You can definetly see how from the 80s and forward JUMP tries to have at least an important Sport, comedy or romance series every 5 or so years (a generation, you could say.)
Midori no Makibao, Ninku are series I have been interested in reading but haven't since they aren't scanlated, would buy digital volumes (even if I hate digital media) if they were available in english/spanish.
Do you guys have any series you would like to read but aren't available in english?
Also Dragon Quest Dai No Daiboken got robbed by JOJO in my list, I prefer Dragon Quest, and even though it sold more per volume than Jojo, I think Jojo was/is like the Kochikame of action series for JUMP, and even if it didn't 'even' sell a million per volume, I include it because of its relevance to this day.
To This day I don't understand how Ninku got cancelled, most places I have seen numbers for it say it
sold 9 million in only 9 volumes.. Does anyone know if the author got sick or something?
I know putting Dragon Ball under comedy is cheating, but that way each generation has 6 manga series while each having at least a sport, romance and comedy manga AND in my favor Dragon Ball was kind of a comedy/action series for a very good part of its run.
Also I changed the
pink lable from 'romance comedy manga' to 'romance comedy or ecchi manga' so it would fit Harenchi Gakuen, because it isn't a romcom manga, but I wanted every generation to have a manga labeled with
pink,
green and
blue.
Finally I had to omit some of my all time favorites in the list in order to include what I consider the most important manga in Jump, for example I don't really enjoy Hokuto or REBORN that much.. I really like mangas like Hoshin Engi, Shaman King, Hikaru no Go, but didn't put them on the list because I wanted to include a comedy, romance and sport manga in each generation, so only 3 other spots were given for action manga, and sometimes there just wasn't a spot open..
