Just read amalgam, chapter 1 was a whole mess and meh not sure gonna survive...
And lol red sprite
And lol red sprite
Pretty much. I'm not putting my hopes on S2 blowing up its popularity if only because it's due to Jump's ineptitude to possess the foresight what they would need to do to grab new readers for the manga. Seriously, did they actually think the first 3 volumes would be able to hook new readers?LOL Academia fans are so delusional.
It never will. I can promise you that it won't surpass Naruto as a franchise or in manga sales. There's a low chance of Academia S2 blowing up to the point where it surpasses Naruto, if the first season failed to do that.
Serious question; what is Academia's merchandise sales for this year? Has the figure come out yet or we have to wait till November?
I can still see it reaching Naruto levels. But I would've been positive of it if they didn't mismanage the anime's debut in the first place. Who the hell thought releasing the weakest part of a manga first and delaying the best parts was such a good idea?!!Wow, that rankings all over the place.
While I don't think Red Sprite is bad, it does lack a lot of substance atm. The fact it still has none after 7 chapters is a bad sign, and the first chapter has been the best so far, so I don't think it will rise drastically.
Neverland doing me proud.
Love Rush rose a bit. The series could go either way I feel. Not terrible, but not great.
Has Samon survived? It seems out of immediate danger for the moment.
Surprised Yuragi hasn't taken over BC in sales yet. I'm kind of annoyed Bc is always hogging the top spots of the TOC, it should be a middle tier series :/.
On Hero Aca, I can't see it ever reaching Naruto levels, or even Haikyuu for that. Sure the arcs in S2 will be sick, but I think it's missed its chance to grab that audience.
I wouldn't worry for Soma though. It's the 4th best selling series in the mag atm by quite a far margin. With Gintama and Toriko leaving soon, I don't think Jump can sacrifice any other 100k+ sellers. Considering they have 5 <50k sellers who have no sign of getting more popular and 5 series at <11 chapters starting next week, they need all they can get now. Yuna is the only non flop they've had in the last 18+ months. We'll see in December if any of the newbies hold up.
Nice so Yuragi should overtake BC in a volume or two.478598 479316 Hakyuu

The D must be Death Note.
of the low sellers, kimetsu is the only one that shows increase in sales.
Saiki anime did absolutely nothing.
To be honest, Yuuragi probably will not overtake BC, it can match it or be a bit better but it probably will not do it. Ecchi stuff have a great start but they usually don't get such a good progression over time. So it would beat the shit out of Black Clover on 100 metres dash, draw on 400 m but will lose on 1600 m. Still it just became 3rd or 4th best selling ecchi series.Nice so Yuragi should overtake BC in a volume or two.
Saiki's lack of increase is so depressing. Can't believe the anime had no effect.
My point is mainly that the content from season 1 of MHA is widely considered the weakest parts of the series. Where as the parts after that is where a lot of readers became hooked.I doubt length of adaptation plays a role. Shingeki took off just at ep1. Food wars had 2 seasons and didnt take off. Toriko had two years and didnt take off.
Yo bro chill out, I measure sales by how pleasant my fap was. On the scale of how good it was it still didn't reach Devily Man performance so it'll definitely do as I said.Lol dude Yuuragi will sell 2mil on averge oa least. Get your facts straight and dot lie here.
In fact I translate both series for my own language... They just are not as good as other jump series. I just think they need to get out of the way so good mangaka can come back with something new, since the "new ones" seems to be unable to do that (neverland excepted)Why? Because you don't like it? That's stupid to wish for something like that.
Yeah right... And OP is absent this week.Oh man, now I'm really loving this. Just imagining the the tears of butthurt OP fans is pure orgasm to me. HeroAca deserves it's position more than anything imo. OP's time has passed, and now it's HeroAca's turn to bring Jump into a new era.
Given the drop in quality in the second season and the manga in general that may be a blessing. As long as Souma continues to sell the way it does its fine regardless of rankings and also I doubt there's much story left at this point.Very possible for Shokugeki to fall under category, "where it is hopeless like other series". Inconsistent rankings and reaching the bottom of the rankings are early signs of that. Also, not a lot of promise for new seasons of Soma unfortunately. Second season didn't even do half of the sales of the first season.
Gintama proves this statement false. It has NEVER done well in the rankings and is not a exceptional seller despite lasting for as long as it did same with fanservice laden series like To Love Ru, people kept saying that it was going to get canned due to its low rankings despite stable sales but as it turns out kids were too ashamed to vote for it due to its content and in the end the mangaka was forced to end it in Jump due to personal reasons not due to how it performed in the rankings. Series like Beelzebub and Medaka Box got the boot due to their stagnant sales and low rankings and thus far Souma is out selling both there's also merchandise sales to consider as well so unless people just outright stop buying Souma within the next few years its not really in any danger at this point especially when its outselling the bulk of the lineup.Sales is important but almost equally so are the rankings. It doesn't matter if sales are stable, if it ranks poorly it will get shoved to the side. WSJ is brutal and very competitive.
When are you guys gonna realize that Naruto and One Piece were outliers? They're in a league within the likes of Dragonball and Slam Dunk, series that are lightening in a bottle and make a huge impression on pop culture another big thing to realize is how different the marketing landscape was back then, before long-running anime was the norm now they're much rarer so obviously it becomes much harder to track sales growth over a period of time also the rise of digital formats. Despite both series headlining Jump's era of highest selling series per volume no other series from that era came close to those sales and popularity. So far 10 volumes in MHA is doing as well as Bleach did within the same time span with a boost that's still subsiding and its still young I'm not sure where all the expectations of it stems from especially since companies would be ecstatic over anything above 500k.A new era as in being inferior to Naruto/One Piece in sales? OP's time hasn't passed, it's still going quite strong and has a successful anime to boot. Academia doesn't come anywhere near Naruto's sales or even it's anime success.
Haikyuu!! is a sports manga and those don't last long by average every sports manga that's ran in Jump has never reached 50 volumes (Captain Tsubasa spun off into several sequel series with short runs) so it can't lead a new era when it won't be along for much longer and also is already selling less than its predecessors Kuroko's and Prince of Tennis but you don't see anyone pointing that out all the damn time do you? From the numbers shown the MHA anime did fine especially for what is a pure battle shounen anime which don't sell well on DVD and BD at all (case in point Twin Exorcists which aired at the same time did considerable worse in both anime and manga sales) and even AssClass a series that was a huge hit had dismal disc sales yet is still getting a movie due to how much revenue it makes everywhere else. Sports manga adaptations has always had good to great anime sales as far as Jump is concerned so Haikyuu is just following a trend started by Captain Tsubasa. If anything Haikyuu!! is much worthy of leading this "new era", it's already near/passed million copies per volume. Now that's a series with a successful manga AND anime, something Academia can't brag about. :-)

Shingeki was already a hit before it got its adaptation much like MHA the anime just exploded it even further largely due to its premise and hype it built and quality aside (it was a production disaster) it managed to sustain people's attention through. Now I've seen a lot of series gain second wind so its not impossible, the thing with Souma is that it was never going to get past its niche since cooking manga adaptations aren't exactly common and Toriko was pushed to being something it was never going to be.I doubt length of adaptation plays a role. Shingeki took off just at ep1. Food wars had 2 seasons and didnt take off. Toriko had two years and didnt take off.
It largely will depend on how Furidate wants it to go it can very much be another Captain Tsubasa and go on with short sequels after the main series is finished. Slam Dunk's abrupt ending was largely due to Inoue wanting out of Jump at the time and focus on other work, Rookies was never meant to last long, Prince of Tennis probably could have still been in Jump since it was still largely popular along with Kuroko, Eyeshield 21 ended due to the writer and artist having a falling out which would explain why the last arc was so bad. Haikyuu is a hit with both kids and fujoshi which makes it a prime cashcow for Jump so it'll be hardpress to see Furidate end it at volume 37.I know it's a rare occurrence, but I can see Haikyuu going on for ages. The non first string players started getting a bit more screen time, and they've gone into so much depth with opposing teams, I can see it turning out like Diamond no Ace and covering 2nd Yr onwards. Plus I can't imagine Jump just letting Furidate end it easily, considering the poor condition of the magazine atm sales-wise.
Haikyuu will wind up beating it by next year mainly because Kuroko had a shorter run than expected. And I thought it was outselling Kuroko already? Guess I'll go double check my figures, I may have just assumed that.

Everyone keeps saying that BC is just editorial pushing and this is becoming more and more true when you consider how sales aren't moving that much despite the push. Now the anime could change all that and give it the push it needs but they really need to get on with it now or else its going to end up like Toriko all over again.Man just looking at the top 5 is crazy seeing how much WSJ is changing in front of our eyes. For the past decade+ everything we once knew is already gone or on its way (aside from One Piece). The next stage seems to be younger series filling in the holes. Haikyuu, MHA, Black Clover, what used to be Soma, an possibly Yuragi and Neverland. Honestly Black Clovers rise really surprised me as I thought the manga was too much copy and taste for people's taste but I guess to a demographic of kids it doesn't matter. Also the sales aren't really that impressive considering where it ranks all the time, so much it's just the placement.
Yeah, Toriko was a much worse case considering how they gave it all the promotion in the world and never took off. But I really do wonder how the editorial staff make these decisions. Idk if Tabatas writing is just that bad or he's just making a manga just to survive but it really does seem like they decided that regardless of how bad Black Clover is, they'll try hard to make it work out. Why though. Why not request someone with more talent and promise to make a series that you can push since you feel like the magazine is lacking hits. Really makes me feel like these decisions on what manga survives and what won't are made before the manga gets ranked or survives the 15+ chapter markEveryone keeps saying that BC is just editorial pushing and this is becoming more and more true when you consider how sales aren't moving that much despite the push.
