One Piece was the only series in +5 years (probably way more) to get a back-to-back cover (and 3 in a row once). Not even the super-success AssClass got it. Isn't Jump being too excessive when the BC sales aren't that good to think it will be a big hit?

They're probably expecting the eventual anime to boost sales considerably. Hell, it's possible BC gets a bigger anime boost than MHA got.

That's not even hard tho. I could see Black Clover selling 400 to 500k with a proper anime, but then again, it's not worth to give it that much of a push IMO.

Judging from the raws of the most recent chapter and the last few author comments I think that Samon-kun is about to become a battle manga.
Would make sense as an attempt to help the declining rankings.

Xebec is only doing the OVA for Black Clover, I suspect the actual anime will be done by a different studio. I agree it'll probably be bigger than MHA

Plus to add that I'm sure they care less about the quality of the manga they're pushing as long as it's potential to make money is still high. Black Clover just has certain things going for it that'll probably help make a huge hit as an anime

Unless Jump goes apeshit with the marketing for it and give it the same timeslot as say Naruto as a replacement or supplement ala One Piece and Toriko that's unlikely but they've proven to not know when to give up as their motto goes so who knows but they're being rather foolhardy with it as of late so they're probably that confident in it.

I think Black Clover is a good series, but I get what you're trying to say.

As a fan, I'm giddy at all the promotion it's getting.

Couple things here, boosts aren't really in tangent to a set amount like a lot of people believe it is. The quality of the adaptation does not matter whatsoever since they've been plenty of bad adaptations of Shuiesha properties that have gone off to become top sellers just because it appealed to the right audience (Ao no Exorcist, Tokyo Ghoul, etc.) while actually good adaptations never manage to boost sales at all mainly do to it not appealing to a set demo (Sket Dance, Nisekoi, etc) and you have shows that flat out bomb in both formats (Beelzebub, Medaka Box, etc). So to say that Black Clover will reach a tangent amount of sales based on nothing really isn't particularly ethical other than THIS SHOW HAS STUFF THAT APPEALS TO PEOPLE OF THIS DEMO will so does everything that Jump dishes out it doesn't mean it'll have the same level of success. Taking that into account you'll be surprise by how very few anime actually do their job in boosting sales of the source of material and the average height a series should shoot for isn't the same as One Piece or Naruto but very much into the same standard as say OPM, MHA, Souma which all had significant boosts that were higher then most people gave them credit for only because it wasn't as big as they were expecting. Sports manga are a lot more predictable since its demo are a lot more centered and let's face it easier to please, Kuroko and Haikyuu had the same boost level jumping by an absurd amount from their previous runs but more into the standard left by their predecessor Prince of Tennis. The only way I can say that Black Clover even has a chance of being a 500k seller at this point is if they do the same method that helped Toriko and pretty much luck at this point we all know that Black Clover's "popularity" is all editorial pushing.

Ghost Tits has the same number of sales as BC and is doing better than it was doing 3 volumes in and this is without having two cover pages in a row or obscene amount of color pages. MHA has never left the top five in the ToC since it started while BC got the bump after AssClass ending. Black Clover's volume sales are also nowhere near as good as MHA, Souma and AssClass before either of their respective anime. Do you know how rare it is for a Jump manga to get cover pages several times in a row? The last series that got that was One Piece which got three cover pages to promote the 10th theatrical film Strong World not even AssClass has gotten that same treatment. Now are you saying that this is not a big deal whatsoever or are you still in denial over this?

I've learned to not take Toriko fanboys like him and Wolf King seriously since they just seem to want to deny what's in front of them despite the overwhelming evidence. Even people who like Black Clover can admit that Shueisha is betting all the marbles on it.
