Discussion Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki Thread

Ichiya even though he is a side character has done lot for the story and plot.He helped in mobilising Ishgar forces against Alvarez Army.




His backstory is given below

Ichiya was once the greatest mage in the whole world.Once the Magic council approached Ichiya and decided to give him the Title of the 1st Wizard Saint.But he refused and insisted it be given to God Serena.Later he left Fiore and started roaming the world.As it happened in Bosco he met a Dragon Slayer named Acnologia.The two became great friends and started destroying things together.Ichiya at once destroyed a country and showed the majestic Spectacle to Acnologia.Acnologia became amazed by Ichiya's feat.He said,"I can only destroy an island with a single attack but you can destroy a country with it.Wow just wow."Ichiya gave this credit to Acnologia.But a quarrel soon broke out between them and it ended when Ichiya easily defeated Acnologia.Enraged by his betrayal Ichiya left Bosco and met Zeref.He advised Zeref to create an Empire to defeat Acnologia which later came to be known as Alvarez Empire.Then Ichiya returned to Fiore.

My favorite Ichiya moment was the Fairy Tail of the Dead Men episode.

I even re-watched it on Halloween.

That episode probably was perfect for Ichiya.

One of my favourite moments is when he beated Bacchus and Rocker. Kneel before Ichiya!

Talking about his good points, Ichiya has such a pure heart that i think even if enemies will do worst/terrible things to Ichiya then he will still forgive them. He is that sweet.


Another thoughts. Ichiya should become ultimate ruler of universe, because universe needs ruler whose kindness and power are limitless.

I won't say he's one of my favourite characters but I really like him/ He's funny and he's always been helpful to fairy tail and we can't deny that he's a brave guy. I would love to see his reaction when meeting Irene :v .

I liked him during the GMG in the ryuzetsu land. PARFUM !!!!Poor Ichiya; that was funny.

Chapter 528 ended with Ichiya presenting a plan to deal with Acnologia. He introduces a woman of importance. How long has Ichiya been planning to deal with Acnologia? How long has he known this woman? Crack theorychiya

Throughout the first timeskip (X784-X791) where the Tenrou team went missing, Ichiya, and I quote, "never gave up trying to track them down". We know that there's a book Dragon Historia (knowledge of Acno history) and that BP figured out Tenrou still exists by magic some magic signature of 'Christina' to something in Fiore (which I assume was Mavis).

There's also the fact that Christina is equipped to transport Dragon Slayers.

I'd wager that Ichiya has met this mysterious lady of 528 even before X791. Ichiya had intel on Acnologia and was keeping an eye on Tenrou. By X792 he has shown to have anti-DSM sickness technology.

So with that in mind, we should expect Ichiya to have planned to fight Acno for quite some time, hopefully we get this fleshed out in coming chapters. I don't think this development with Ichiya is a 'recent made up'. It's abundantly clear Hiro has put Ichiya on this path since Tenrou arc.

Who's the woman in 528? Idk. I'd bet it's a Heartfilia. At this stage of a story it has to be someone of significance, and well everyone has to be related in FT.

What is the certain place? No real locations of note other than Mt Zonia. Maiden legend incoming

What does Ichiya do from here? Apart from pulling the strings behind the scenes, he needs to assemble Dragon Slayers. My bet is Wendy will somehow get Warren's magic too (just like Mavis) and communicate to the wizards as the lure Acno across the sky. Mest will then teleport all slayers onto the ship as they fly past and maybe Lucy too. Mavis and Gray will stay back so that Gray can deal with END/Zeref... and Mavis won't be permitted aboard Christina (captains orders).

How would this woman know about Mavis and Tenrou Island let alone Ichiya shouldn't know anything about Mavis? From what I remember the Mavis doesn't have any connection to the Heartfilia clan and the Heartfilia doesn't know about Tenrou Island expect for Lucy. So this person would have to be someone who was apart of Fairy Tail or has some kind of connection to Fairy Tail to know about Mavis and Tenrou Island. Also this person probably meet Ichiya sometime before 7 year time skip and Mount Saint Zonia does have something to do with the 100 year quest so there's that.

Cuz Layla was totally the type of person to leave children like Wendy and Natsu in the middle of the woods. And also how Makarov just happened to find Natsu......... the one that's Mavis's nephew and END and none of the others.

Like someone went and told Makarov where to find Natsu.

Like telling ichiya about upcoming war preparations.

Because whoever holds Ichiya will win the war. He's instrumental to the winning side.

I know this woman can't be Layla because of reasons and this woman can't be Anna because Anna doesn't have those side bangs and Anna's face is shaped differently then this woman

Just throwing this out there - it's Anna, but she changed her appearance a bit more to try and look good for Ichiya

here's a possibly this woman could be Mermaid Heel's Guild Master who was said in the volume 35 q&a to be a man cross dressing

Possible, could be anyone and MH GM is an unsolved mystery. Could be the part where the side guilds come to action.

The only way for Ichiya to know about Tenrou Island is if someone from Fairy Tail told him about it so this woman is must likely connected to Fairy Tail somehow.

Well maybe Bob? He is from FT (it is anime-only IIRC).

I think Ichiya is either the right hand man or the man when it comes to this war. He's certainly got the charisma to lead, but this mysterious woman is obviously giving the key information.

More people should appreciate him. I mean.. he is a side-character, but still had more development than most of the mcs of the big three together. lol

This dude comes in the arcs like a joke, makes you laugh, makes you think he's a complete idiot, but in the end he tricked you and comes up with a plan so unbelievable and saves the ass of eveyone. Ohh and still looks hot af after all that to make them girls wet.

I don't think it's Layla. Cuz pretty sure she died. And that's been since the beginning like Ur. Plus Aquarius reason for hating Lucy. Also reason jude neglected Lucy and why she ran away. Also if Layla was alive. The spirits wouldn't know???? And the really would make the whole brandish revenge thing pointless. Cuz Zoledo wouldn't have had to kill Grammy.

I am saying there seems to be a mysterious figure pulling strings the way everything use to be connected to Zeref. But this person might be tied to guilds like Bluenpegusus and Ichiya and maybe mermaid heel.

And Mavis's nephew was a joke considering how out of all dragon slayers rescued from the woods. It's the one that was Zerefs brother that was brought into Mavis's guild specifically.

Honestly, I would prefer if the woman that Ichiya come in touch ( ) would be Anna, not Layla ( Even if potential opportunity for Annalogia sicks me out ) it would make much more sense and wouldn't go against each time that Layla was mentioned to be already died ( Brandish/Zoldeo/Lucy/Spirits ) Unless there will be some explanation like she was trapped inside CS world ( but then again it would just raise more and more question to which I doubt we will found an answer )

Back on the topic of Ichiya, I think he has been instrumental in many of then arcs. Leading the guilds in Os, he lead Some in BP and more than bob, and he also was the one who was organizing everyone to stop FACE besides discovering tenrou and creating all his perfumes.

He's been growing on my list of favorite characters. I do want to see more of him.
