ya although im assuming that doesnt mean that he didnt obtain it in the TS. in fact natsu only have trouble activate on is own which IMO shouldnt take that long to master. i mean we dont know if it took wendy an entire year to obtain her own but we just know she was able to get on her own during the TS. and im not saying that natsu and wendy are equal/same people im just saying it doesnt require that much training to activate on his own just like LFD. natsu was consciously know when he was in DF lol what do u mean. in fact natsu always knows when he received a power boost.

yes he can lol nakamgami armor cut magic itsself him using hades attacks are magical attacks his curse is absorbion thats it erza cut his magic and proceeds to one shot with her lance simple as that. plus he was alone able to abosorb hades when was dead. do u think he can beat hades even with the power to absorb magic?? natsu doesnt have way of counter franmath and franmath was tanking natsu attacks without his absorbtion anyways.

do u think natsu can blitzs august the way gildartz did? i already told u that gildartz can causal beat ajeel unlike natsu. that a fact. again ur bringing zeref endurance and using that as durability. im not saying that august can tank ig bdkm natsu. there is a difference between endurance and durability zeref ENDURES the attacks while august tanked the attacks without receiving damage. and thats the problem he received no damage from DF natsu but he getting them from base natsu :cookiehand
I agree that it doesn't take much training for him to activate dragon force. In fact, I think Dragon Force can be invoked if you've simply got enough magical power. It didn't take much training for him to activate LFD either. He basically tried to use it on the spot against Max. Either way, this is not important. Regardless of whether or not Natsu trained for dragon force over the timeskip, this still doesn't change the fact that he was using it with his own power during Tartarus.

Nakagami can cut Hades magical power, sure. It wouldn't negate the fact that magical attacks wouldn't work on Franmalth. Nakagami starlight would essentially just be a normal lance attack. It's debatable if that would be enough for Erza to beat Franmalth. Also, using Nakagami armour would warrant a high diff for Erza at least. I don't think Franmalth is as strong as Hades with his heart, but he literally had Hade's magical power. Franmalth can't use devil heart or eye or anything. However, as far as his amerterasu-28 attacks goes, it would be indistinguishable from Hades' Ameterasu-28

When did Gildarts casually beat Ajeel? Or any other Spriggan for that matter? We've actually seen Natsu casually beat Neinhart. Natsu might not able to run around to August's back to tag him, but in hand to hand combat I don't see why he couldn't tag August a few times. I won't deny that Gildarts can probably take down most of the Spriggans, but would that necessarily put him on a whole different level compared to Natsu?

I can accept there's a technical difference between durability and endurance. August can negate magic, and he has a physical upgrade with his red-skinned mode. So maybe it would be harder to scratch August. However, this doesn't change the fact that Zeref can take attacks that would probably end up killing August. Zeref didn't receive no damage from DF Natsu. DF Natsu scattered his body. Zeref reversed time to put himself back together. He doesn't need to do this against base Natsu because it's only a few minor scratches.

Do you remember August is immune to those attacks because he is immune to Caster Magic.

And Zeref on the other hand survives or tanks because his durability is immense.

That's a round about way of saying what i am saying.

Zeref could survive such an attack because his durability is legendary due to his immortality. It doesn't matter whether he can do because of his immortality but the fact remains that he can do that.

And surely Acnologia felt pain. But he didn't express.August also felt pain but the difference it he expressed it.

Seriously @Emperor Spriggan your boy Zeref is getting underrated a lot.And i am ardently fighting for him.I demand thousand Dollars from you as my fees.
smh im saying that i was editing be4 u post but u already posted while i was still editing

exactly its because of immortality the fact that he is immortal literally gives him that ability to endure the attacks. pretty much that any1 that is immortal it will harder to kill/put down. plus he endure not tanked it and received damage endurance=/durability

ok fair enough august did express it but he did tank the attack with no damage

and also i didnt im not using his immunity to caster magic im using the feat he tanked from gildartz and cana. he didnt received any damage

Durability means the ability to withstand wear, pressure, or damage.

Zeref is durable enough to survive Igneel Powered FDKM Natsu's attack. That's better than anything August has shown without his hax resistance against Caster Magic.

And how can you be sure August was not damaged by those attacks? His colour complexion makes it difficult to understand the damages his body receives. That is also the reason we don't see August has any body damage even when his body was literally being shattered to pieces by Ars Magia.

I personally think that August's duarbility might be higher than Zerefs, but not by that much. And Zeref can easily reverse time and negate it. I don't understand why people started underrating Zeref after Natsu got a few hits. The fact that Zeref isn't reversing the damage taken just shows how minor it was. Zeref is on Acnologia's Zeref and far above August. And no, base Natsu isn't taking Zeref down. If Natsu defeats Zeref in his base form with his own power, then I'll take all my words back. And by defeat I mean immobilize/win. But that won't happen. People are just complaining for the sake of complaining.
Axiomus, I never said that in Tartaros Natsu's DF wasn't his power. It is his power, and it definetly put him on Jellal and Laxus tier back then. It's just that I doubt he could control it at will back then. Nothing indicated that he can just simply enter it. Otherwise he would've done that sooner.

Aside from his immortality and prodigy in magical theorem, Zeref isn't really shown to be exceptional in any way. Especially since he's had over 400 years to get stronger. We haven't seen Zeref in action enough to gauge his power, and the only fight he's had was against Natsu, whose power has been all over the map this arc. For all we know, Zeref could be a turtle. Able to take a lot of damage due to the curse, yet can't hit worth shit. And how would he reverse damage done to him? He doesn't have time magic.

Even with his immortality, Zeref fears Acnologia and is nowhere near his level. And for all of Zeref's 400 years of magical study, August is said to know more magics than him. We haven't seen August go all out either, so he could possibly be the most powerful in the series if his Ars Magia was capable of vaporizing all of Fiore, something even Acnologia couldn't have done.

After gaining FH Zeref gained the ability to reverse body damages.Just like when his body was vaporised his body literally came back from nothing. And also back in Tartaros Zeref had casted something similar to Age Seal on Tartaros henchman.

And August was very much afraid of Acnologia. He was just shaking and sweating from Acnologia standing in front of him from his sheer aura itself. And it was said Acnologia destroyed a country in the past.

He speed blitzed them before they could even react .And you can see August's expression then.

And both Irene & August admitted only Zeref with Fairy Heart to be able to fight Acnologia indicating they can't defeat Acnologia even if they get FH.

To be fair to Zeref, August knowing more magic than him is almost certainly down to August having an instant copy/mastery technique. Besides, that isn't really a big factor in terms of power rankings, quantity ≠ quality after all.
I definitely feel like some people set themselves up for disappointment. Coming into this arc, I held the opinion that Natsu was going to be defeating most of the Spriggan 12 with one or two FDK spells, and that he would be strong enough to give Zeref a decent fight.
By "coming into this arc", do you mean from beginning or mid-way through (like around 480)?

My point is that Dragon Force is Natsu going all out, not LFD. Natsu can use lightning several times without exhausting his power. If all it takes is for Natsu to get emotional to invoke Dragon Force, then it's really no different than all the other examples of power of feelings. This would include Erza's victory against Kyouka.

I mean since the introduction of Brandish.

But when he was fighting Natsu before getting Fairy Heart, there was no way for him to heal himself.

Also, dragons (Acnologia included) are immune to conventional magics, so unless August knows DS magic, which he could probably copy from Acnologia himself, he'd have no effect against Acnologia, no matter who has more powerful magic. And since August was faster than Jellal and Jellal is shown to be faster than Acnologia, we can only assume that August has the ability to beat Acnologia for speed.

But those various types of magic make him the most versatile in the series. Especially when the mage he copies isn't as proficient in their own style as he instantly is. He was able to use Crime Sorciere's magic against them better than they themselves could. Couple that with his staggering magical power and no one short of maybe Acnologia could beat him, and that's by hax alone.

In that case... (sorry if this is off-topic)

No offense, but I think you had crazy high expectations for Natsu. At the beginning of the arc, we flat out saw the Gods of Ishgar tell Levy that opposing Alvarez openly would result in a horrific loss as the Spriggan 12 have 11 other mages on-par with God Serena (and keep in mind that this was when they thought they might be able to beat Goddy together). We then saw Gray and Natsu have serious problems with Marin and practically crap themselves in front of Brandish. We then saw Natsu, Gray, Erza, Lucy and Makarov running away from a lone Ajeel because Makarov was sure they were outmatched. We then then had Makarov and Mavis basically tell the entire guild that they wouldn't be able to beat these enemies alone, and that this was the strongest threat they had ever faced. Despite all of this, you thought Natsu was going to two-shot most of them?

Now yes, all of this was later proved wrong. BUT, that isn't the point. The point is that the manga itself hyped the Spriggans as mages that couldn't be solo'd. From my view, I don't see how you can blame the readers for being disappointed, since the manga is what hyped the Spriggans up and there was no evidence at the time to make us doubt it. With all of this being said, I think it's understandable that some people didn't like FT mages like Natsu stomping said hyped Spriggans.
It turned out that the manga wasn't really that far off from this prediction.
Which is probably why some people didn't like this arc. The manga mislead them to expect some epic team ups, and it instead gave them characters stomping villains that were said to be far above them within the same arc. And to make it worse, it often required asspulls since the villains were that broken.
For some odd reason, some people held the opinion that Natsu was a fodder, and would constantly say he gets stomped by any of the Spriggan 12. I suspect this was because they wanted their favourite character to outshine Natsu.
I think you're being really unfair here. Sure, you might have had one or two people that just wanted "insert favourite character" to be stronger than other characters. However, for the most part, I think a large amount of people just wanted consistency. It's really jarring when in one chapter base Natsu gets his ass handed to him by Marin whilst having Gray as help, then in another we're basically told a Spriggan would stomp him, then in another he's stomping a Spriggan in FDKM, then in another he's stomping an enhanced Spriggan in base, and then in another chapter he's fighting god damn Zeref in base. It's just a power scaling nightmare, not to mention it completely kills all suspense since you know that Natsu's strength pretty much just scales to whoever he's fighting.
The whole reason for the 1 year timeskip was so that Natsu could get stronger, and the Alvarez Arc is basically Natsu's arc. It's really no surprise that Natsu isn't getting stomped in the arc he's supposed to shine in.
And that would be fine, had the manga not portrayed the Spriggans as beasts of war. Natsu being as powerful as he is, not to mention as inconsistent as he is, caused a lot of dehyping, especially for the side characters since most of them were used as hype tools (though to be fair to Natsu, basically all of the FT mages are part of this too. I would mention Jellal here but his feats are drastically more inconsistent than the FT mages, not to mention he's a victim of this too, in fact his inconsistent feats were caused by the FT mages being inconsistent). It's actually kind of ironic, the arc in which Natsu was supposed to shine instead earned him ire because Hiro couldn't decide how powerful he is.

Did I really have crazy high expectations of Natsu? Were they not, more or less, accurate?

I never expected Marin to be an actual threat to Fairy Tail. I never pegged him as being as strong as someone like Minerva. Natsu and Gray never used any real attacks against him, and he basically just teleported around. When you see Natsu oneshot Bluenote and then blow up a giant war god, you shouldn't assume that his karate chop against Marin and say that is the best example of his capabilities. Like I said, you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you thought Natsu was going to be a fodder in this arc - especially if it's because Marin tagged him a few times by teleporting around.

Brandish and Ajeel were impressive when they were introduced, but I never pegged them as being tougher to beat than a GMG dragon. I had my suspicions that Natsu would only need 1-2 FDK moves to take down a Spriggan when Brandish was introduced. By the time Erza took down Ajeel with nakagami starlight, I was certain of it. The manga never hyped the Spriggans as mages that couldn't be soloed. When Laxus dropped the nuke on Ajeel, we got our first foreshadowing that the top tiers on Ishgar's side can hold their own against the Spriggans.

Contrary to most of the fanbase, I enjoyed this arc really much. For me it is still up there with Tartaros.
However I have to agree, but the biggest flaw is definetly that the Spriggans aren't as strong as they were hyped to be. I mean, I don't think the power levels are that messed up. Natsu didn't even have time to fight Marin normally. But really, this arc would definetly be the best if the Spriggans lived up to the hype. I wouldn't even be against them being on par with the FT Team. Hiro often hypes up enemies to be stronger than they are, and the enemies are usually still pretty good. If the Spriggans were evenly matched with the FT Team, it would make very interesting and epic fights.
But the Spriggan turned out to be weaker than the FT Team. Which is the biggest flaw Hiro could make in a final arc.
Tbh, this is very dissapointing. The first part of the arc was the best that Fairy Tail has to offer. The hype, the reveals, the buildup. And then it all got worse and worse. I still enjoyed the 2nd part of the arc a lot, and the only dissapointment I have with this arc are the Spriggans. And the saddest part is that it could be easily the other way around. Hiro could just make the heroes struggle more in battles, and make it more evenly matched. Then this arc would definetly be the best... at least for me.

I definitely didn't enjoy it at all.

@MLG Bradman said it perfectly.

everyone expected the Spriggans to be something huge because they were hyped that way.

in fact, we thought it would took at least Laxus and Jellal together to beat one and Gildarts to be the only one who can solo.

but what did we get????

some broken characters who could only be beaten with asspulls and some of them who are scrubs.

and Jellal got some nice L's. he jumped from Laxus' level to mid tier level.

heck, I don't care if Jellal pushing back Acnologia is BS. at least he is getting a panel time.

don't know in what world are people living if they expected Natsu to one shot everyone he comes across.

completely boring and ridiculous.

if I wanted to see one shots, I would have watched One Punch Man.

in fact, we thought it would took at least Laxus and Jellal together to beat one and Gildarts to be the only one who can solo.
I
was under the impression that Laxus would be one or two-shotting Spriggans with the way he dropped nukes on Ajeel. The fact that Wall gave Laxus as much trouble as he did was a surprise to me.

its up to debate if that nuke would one shot him, depending on whatever or not you believe August.

Elfman and Lisanna are savage though.

but the one shot never happened so... nor will it ever come true.
Only because August intercepted it, and the other Spriggans got owned by people weaker than Laxus.
