Chapter 217: That Resolution... That Condition...
- The team set to go up against Switzerland enters the arena. Japan chose Byoudouin, Duke, Ohmagari, Irie, Akutsu, Ishida and Kite as representatives for this final group league match.
- Both doubles are played simultaneously. In D2, Ohmagari and Kite are up against Henri Nobel III (MS 3) and Peter Ranbiell (HS 3). In D1, Duke and Ishida face Albert Federer (HS 3) and Randy Pugu (HS 3).
- At the start of D2, the Japanese team takes the initiative with Ohmagari's Nitouryuu. Henri tries to counter this with a skilled drop volley, but Kite covers with his Shukuchihou, earning Japan the 3rd point of the match.
- At 40-0, Kite once again serves. Henri's return spins away from Ohmagari and once again Kite moves to cover the shot. However, upon bouncing, the ball jumps at a 90 degree angle in the opposite the direction, leaving Kite unable to react. 40-15.
- Henri explains that Shukuchihou's weakness is that while it allows Kite to cover the entire court in a single step, taking a second step right afterwards is impossible.
- Henri's nickname is the Noble Youth whereas Peter is known as the Personification of Talent. Together, they are the most valuable doubles pair in the Swiss tennis world.
- As a reaction to this development, Ohmagari tosses one of his rackets over to Kite. It turns out that Kite has the dexterity required to use Nitouryuu, thus the double dual wielding doubles begins.
Chapter 216: Flaunt Your Power to the World
- In the final match of group A, Germany defeated Tube in straight sets. Tezuka participated as well.
- Meanwhile, just like in D2, Duke and Gin mount a fierce attack. Gin reveals that he has expanded his number of Hadokyuu styles to 216 by adding a reverse style to each of the 108 basic ones. The difference is that while the regular Hadokyuu has a pushing motion, the reverse styles are performed via pulling. A 36th Style Reverse Hadokyuu is enough to knock the rackets out of the Swiss' hands.
- In retaliation, Albert and Randy both flex their muscles, making their jerseys burst off in the process. Duke responds in kind.
- Cutting away to Horio, Kachiro and Katsuo getting some food, the trio reflects on the results thus far and Horio confidently claims that if they manage to continue their winning streak, Japan will finish group B in first place. It is also revealed that Australia narrowly edged out Switzerland in round 1 of the group league with a score of 3-2.
- As the 1st years return to the stadium, however, they are confronted with reality: Switzerland defeated Japan in both doubles, 6-3 in D2 and 6-1 in D1.
Chapter 217: That Resolution... That Condition...
- With Japan being down 0-2, Akutsu prepares for the S3 match. But as he is about to step on the court, he is greeted by a glaring shadow from the other side of the net. Switzerland's representative for S3 is none other than their captain, Amadeus.
- The audience is shocked that Amadeus makes an appearance already, but team Japan reasons that the Swiss must be aiming to seal the deal without dropping a single set.
- In response to Amadeus' appearance, Byoudouin declares he will play the match instead of Akutsu. But Akutsu grabs Byoudouin by the throat and refuses to hand over his position.
- After a moment of silence, Byoudouin accepts. Only on one condition though: should Akutsu lose, he will be kicked off the team and has to return to Japan.
