from what i observed with soowon he generally has a calm disposition. the only time when he got really riled up was when yona mentioned why his father didnt become king. as in the change of facial expression was really telling. that topic is an open wound.
Now, for some reason hes also particularly annoyed about the ‘power of the gods’, or the mention of gods having a say on the executive powers of the king.
I’m just gonna go ahead and say that maybe these two are somewhat related. his dad not being king may have something to do with the god’s influence on junams decision. this is purely speculation tho.
Yeah. It could be both. King Il s future plans could come into play, but also the deeds King Il committed in the past. Soo Won at least believes that King Il is the murderer of his father and I don t remember him ever asking as to why King Il killed his father.
So both could be a reason, why he detests the gods so much,if that could have lead to his father dying maybe. But that is of course purely a speculation on my part.
There're clues spread across the flashbacks - e.g. in the "Young Leaves in the Wind" we find out that Su-won was frequenting the capital city (that is, the parts beyond the Hiryuu Castle), we know that he
visited the Water Tribe at least once, and that he didn't stay at castle long. But the main reason I thought so was
from the anime - sorry for the German subtitles, it's the only version I found. But now I checked that it wasn't in the manga, so there's a question if it was added on author's request (making it canon), or by the anime writers' (making it... hmm, questionable).
I see. Thank you. So the knowledge Soo Won collected didn t just stem from books.
This is why I wrote that it was indirectly their fault. There must have been some kind of prophecy, since they knew that Yona was Hiryuu - someone must have pointed it out to them.
That makes one wonder, if Ik soo maybe entered the stage at that moment. Ik soo is a strange person and even though he seems to be just a kind person, at least the section where his house was totally destroyed, was a little bit questionable. At least his justification...that he just stumbled all over...
And it's presumably the gods' will that Yona is Hiryuu, born in this time and not any other. Now, if that was the reason why Junam chose Il over Yu-hon, then it means that if Yona hadn't been chosen, he wouldn't have done it. Then Yu-hon would be on the throne. So the gods' will interfered with the decision making.
It is true, that a prophecy or Yona s birth may have influenced that decision, if the outcome, should King Junan not follow the predetermined path, had been horrendous.
But it is not like the decision of King Junam is a
direct consequence of the presence of a prophecy. It s not like
prophecy+ Yona being born = King Junam s decision.
There is still the will of the king, named Junam.
Was it the direct "Thee must chose Il"? No, I don't think so (though who knows). But still it can be seen as partially their fault, especially since people usually presume gods to be all-knowing, or at least a lot wiser than humans. Did they not know what the consequences would be, when they decided that Hiryuu should be reborn now, and not, I dunno a decade later?
At least if we consider Soo won s own mindset. Soo Won seems to be a person who tends to rational decisions. He wishes for the power of human beings and he is going actively against the gods.
He chose not to follow the predetermined path.
So if he himself is able to ignore any prophecy/Yona being the reincarnation, why should he absolve his grandfather?
If he really considered the gods influence that big, wouldn t it go against his belief that the gods are just merely watching.
My conclusion is that Soo Won would suffer from a certain bias, if that should be true. I mean that would be really humane, to have unresolved feelings and having them cloud your brain.
That is why I consider your explanation still pretty plausible.
