Discussion Fairy Tail Second Movie "Dragon Cry"

It's still the same quality kinda Jinx, the subs are still trash so we gotta wait for the Funimation subbed ones to drop whenever they do. The movie itself was as cool as the first one but had some plot holes like w/ Animus' human form and END. But I liked it and hoping this becomes a filler arc in the anime so they could add even more like the novel above. The best scene, by far, was this:

Yeah the movie is kinda cool both the animate style and the movie itself though I think those plot holes would be fulled by the Wish on a Star light novel. Even I would like to see the movie as a filler arc in the movie which could be 23 or 26 episodes which how long Fairy Tail filler arcs tend to be. Maybe the Wish on a Star light novel could be used to expand on Acnologia's backstory and/or the anime team could add a few filler episodes to expand Acnologia's backstory.

Erza using Grand Chariot was a shock but dang did her version look cool and was pretty darn powerful.

Wendy DF was pretty and cool.

NaLu was prominent and great.

This movie is pretty good. Loved the animation and i would like if the anime looks like this. There was one thing i didn't get did Natsu use dragon force against Animus or did he transform into E.N.D?

This movie was just horrible, the only good part was that scene in the bar where Lucy was dancing and Erza with her super sexy costume, I really think that all the buget of this movie went to their boobs physics. I mean, god, the girls looked amazing in this movie, hot af.

The fights were horrible (horrible fight scenes in fairy tail!? whaaaaat?), the new villans are trash, Acnologia's backstory felt rushed and is just dumb and that scene with Juvia, Gajeel, Levy and Lily was a stupid joke that wasn´t even funny, seriously, why people like Juvia!? she is the most annoying character in this series, and in this movie that is even more notorious.

This is even worst that the last one, that had a cliche plot and a boring character, but at least tried, this doesn't have any type of effort (besides, of course, the animation)

yea acnoloiga seemed abit rushed I was abit disappointed I mean cmon there has to be more even hiro admits theres more to acnologia then what we know well he can add more to his story but yeah he had to rush it cause he was still creating the chapters back then so yeah writing a script and doing new chapters its alot of work for him lets hope he adds more in the anime once it returns cause he even feels fairy tail is not over yet.

yea that whole juvia scene I just sigh and facepalmed I don't even like her either she has good points I admit that but this obsession of her is overused its not even funny anymore its just annoying thats my opinion ok.

but I do wish dragon cry was focus more on natsu's team and yeah those enemies suck to be honest but it was to show us how powerful natsu and his team had gotten over the past year.

animation was pretty good thats why I'm hoping they'll keep it or use animation similar for the final season and arcs.

The vostfr is finally there.

I can finally give my opinion on the film.

For me a very good movie, it is just as good as the first.

The animation is beautiful, like the colors.

Failure of the film, it goes too fast, I have not seen the time of the film that's not a problem, but especially it looks like it lacks scenes.

We do not see them arrived on the island, and in the bar they already know everything, or is the treasure, how to open the door, that zach often comes from this bar.

Once the blasting of lucy all is chained we are at the end of the film.

He launches the counterattack is the day and the next scene 2 is the twilight / nights, they did what apart run up in the city just XD

The first film seemed to happen on 2-3 days, here only 1 day, well we guess that in fact it's been 2-3 days they are on the island but it is not seen.

I would have wanted a scene equivalent to the first movie where they are in the city, where erza buys his groom's dress, natsu and happy at the restaurant.

History to put a break.

Like we are told nothing about the kingdom, does sonya run the country for 400 years?

That's why the film will have lasted at least 30 min more.

After there is something else, the star dress caprico, I wanted to see lucy fight with;

The dragon form of natsu is only an illusion in the end it's just that natsu releases so much energy that animus believe to see a dragon as zero and faust.

Animus recognizes natsu as being END, but from where he knows it's a good question.

Again this is END us as monstrous.

In short I put a good 15/20 as the first.

For me, Juvia is a character that's comic relief. Don't mind her and she's was hilarious in the movie. What bothers me more than the obsession was after Tartaros she became irrelevant to the point you knew she was only going to be Gray's wife and that Lisanna, the most irrelevant character in FT by far, passed her in strength.

Acnologia's backstory was super rushed, but I don't dislike it. The problem is this: what changed in 400 years that Acnologia went from wanting to destroy all dragons because of seeing Sonya in a fatal state to wanting to annihilate all of humanity? Without filling the gaps it sounds super contradictory.

An easy explanation will be Acnologia grew semi-mad by living in isolation.But sadly it was not expanded or showed.Maybe the Anime will expand it.

I'm sure they will since Mashima did mentioned he wanted to expand on Acnologia's backstory at some point. Also maybe the anime team can use Acnologia's backstory from Dragon Cry and expand on his said backstory that we saw in Dragon Cry.

FT focused on Team Natsu all the time. Just look how horrible Irenes plot played out to make Erza relevant again . I actually think Mashima should have included his side characters more like Team B. We already know all about Team Natsu they don't need more stuff since they are included in almost all the covers, omakes, and the majority of Mashimas twitter sketches.

Shittt Irene's backstory was great, Erza doing her usual "She's Erza" routine can ruin anything so I wouldn't knock Irene for her daughter. Other from that I agree, wouldn't of made any sense to not include Gajeel and Juvia. It's just if you have prominent characters like those two it would of be better to have more onus on them. Levy's inclusion being she wanted to travel to Stella for a job or just out to eat (trash subs so idek which one it was) was just so those two could do something lol. Levy could of been left out cause she only gets screentime cause of Gajeel.

The problem I find with the second movie is the reuse of stuff we have already seen which made the flow jumpy. Like certain scenes were needing to be shown instead of actually telling a logical story.

The only new thing was Happy finally got a battle of his own (against a dog). Lmfao.

It seemed like it tried to go back to the early mission format like Sun Village arc but then it was too much like Alvarez. I think I would have perfected the story expanded into a mini arc or even a larger prequel arc to Alvarez, setting up Acnologia and maybe Irene to be more present.

Then when Happy and Charla we’re rescuinf Lucy from te Edolas Palace

When Sonya had her whole “I am you” with the king, then poof a dragon pops out. I was like “Irene?” When the whole first part of the movie I thought she was a cross between Eclair and Yukino.

The ground exploding when Natsu used his Dragon/End/Whatever form

I can do this with the whole movie.

Now it’s not necessarily bad to reuse things if you improve hem.

Take his moment of Natsu showing Lucy the pretty bites. It’s basically a better version of cherry blossum where Natsu is present this time. But he gives the cherry tree when she’s sick and he showed her this when she was feeling bad. Which is ok cuz it’s one of the best parts of the movie.

I know but the series its mostly focus around them and other characters which I don't mind but like i said gajeel, levy, lily and juvia felt more like minor characters I mean in the previous film gajeel and juvia play even bigger parts
