Hey, what's up, everyone? Stopping through Champion this time, via my friend @cody, to get some recommendations for must-read manga, old and new, from the lineup. I'm not too difficult to please as long as the series is good or the premise is interesting. I'm not into harem or death game stuff, though, but everything else fair game, I guess. Appreciate it in advance, guys.

To get the dangerous pick out of the way first(quite literally), Rokudou no Onna-tachi is a unusual romantic harem to say the least, let's say that somehow, a very weak mc ends up becoming a magnet for really, really bad delinquent girls, it's actually a really "cute" story about making a class filled with delinquents go on the right path, from what I've read so far at least, it has a lot of action, beating up and a lot of delinquents and of course a lot of really bad girls. If you think you'll enjoy that kind of thing, then try it out, so far the harem element hasn't been too involved in the story(from the first 14-15 ish chapters at least).

Mairimashita! Iruma-kun is a super cute story about a boy that gets transported into demon world and he becomes a high school student there. It's a really fun and cute silly fantasy comedy, it's quite enjoyable. It's kind of like a reverse Poro, if you remember that from Weekly Shounen Jump from 2017, but it's significantly better.

Atsumare! Fushigi Kenkyuubu is a cute short comedy manga about an unusual club that focuses on things like the occult and hypnotism, fun to read in short bursts.

And last but not least, Beastars, which I highly recommend right off the bat. It's a shockingly well made high school drama series about a high school of anthropomorphic animals. There's an abundance of interesting topics that are covered in here that are only possible in a manga about anthropomorphic animals, like the difficulties that carnivores and herbivores have living together in a unforgiving society and all sorts of super interesting things get thrown around all the time, I'm always intrigued with the cool ideas that pop up constantly. There's quite of bit of mystery, psychological and intense moments, brutality and a sprinkle of romance, the mc is very interesting, the side characters also end up being really interesting and a lot of character development happens. It's quite the experience, I can't really describe it properly, it's something you have to read in order to understand the full picture.

I haven't read these, but I have heard good things about them: Akumetsu(overall, it looks super cool and I've heard a lot of praise around this title). The other one is Jitsu wa Watashi wa, I won't describe it much, someone else will probably be able to do it better than I can, it's a romantic series with monster girls to keep it short.

Oh yeah, there's also another manga that caught my interest, but I haven't read it yet, but I'm sure @Ihore can do a good job at describing the manga called The Vampire Dies in No Time/Kyuuketsuki Sugu Shinu.

From Champion, I like to follow Beastars, which is a good psychological/school life/romance/comedy/occasional action series featuring animals. This one is being hailed as Champion's next rising star and has recently won several awards. It's hard to go into too much detail without spoiling the conclusions of earlier plot arcs, but it is certainly worth the read. The other rising star of the magazine is Rokudou no Onna-tachi, which may be less your style, but I absolutely love it. I mainly say this because it is a harem, but it has a supernatural element to it. What differentiates it for me is that it uses "the power of friendship" in the best way possible. The MC's friends have actual personalities and aren't either bumbling idiots, weird perverts, or completely irrelevant to the plot. Every prominent character and many of the side characters have been given venues to grow in some way or another, plus the delinquent fighting scenes are really well-drawn. I known I've thrown a few harem recommendations to you across the few threads I've replied to your posts, but the ones I've mentioned I consider to be top of the line for currently-running series.

In addition to those 2, Atsumare! Fushigi Kenkyu-bu is a cute comedy. It has slight moments of romance and ecchi so far, but it is really quite mild. It has the same author as the popular Squid Girl manga/anime that ran for many years, if that has any influence in your opinion. The chapters are only half-length (about 10 pages long rather than 18-20), so you could get caught up pretty quickly. The last one is Mairimashita! Iruma-kun, which is a demon school/slice-of-life series. It's still quite new, but it looks like we may get a bit of romance sub-plot down the road. While it's not selling as well as the other 3 I mentioned, I think it's doing decent enough that it's not in immediate danger. I really like it since the designs are all cute and the main characters are genuinely nice people; you can't help but root for them. The art starts off a bit rough, but it has improved once the author got used to producing a weekly series. Of these 4 series, the earliest one started in late 2016, so they're all still quite young and could potentially have long lives to come if sales stay strong/improve.

Kyuuketsuki Sugu Shinu (The Vampire Dies in no Time) currently only has 2 chapters in English, but is the oldest of the series I mentioned in my post. It's a gag comedy about a weak vampire, a vampire hunter, and a zany cast of supporting characters that gradually get introduced. I find it to be hilarious and hope the translations pick up again, but since there are only 2 chapters translated, it'd be pretty easy to glance this one over and determine if you like it really quick without committing much time to it.

Rokudou sounds really cool actually. I like delinquent characters. Female delinquents kicking ass and doing cute things in their spare time sounds like a blast actually. Bonus points for the side characters not being useless, too. Might get on this one right away. Beastars sounds like a truly unique experience. I'll get started on that one asap, too. I remember watching Actually, I Am's anime last year. I enjoyed it a lot and actually didn't mind the harem aspect to it since I found all the characters really charming and gags super funny. The principal is absolute best girl :D. I'm usually not into vampire stuff, but The Vampire Dies in not Time sounds legitimately fun. I'll add it to my queue. Thanks for the suggestions, you two.

Chosokabe volume 1 is set for release in march so it might survive for longer than first thought

From the current magazines i would suggest what cody and alpom suggested but i would add Mokuyoubi no Furutto which is a short gag series by Ishiguro Masakazu
The Vampire dies in no time is quite fun, its most of the time episodic and it has an array of absurd recurring characters.
Older manga
Himawari is a male idol manga but it has been an enjoyable read for me (not translated yet)
Shuujin Riku is a prison escape battle manga and it has a interesting setting and the characters are reasonably interesting. (Not much of it is translated)

Sora ga Haiiru Dakara is basically a compilation of short stories. They vary from comedy to weird to depressing.
Black Jack is a Osamu Tezuka work and a good one.
Nanba MG5 has been recently started to get translated, its a delinquent comedy manga.
Clover is the same genre but the comedy its less comedy and more fighting with some fishing.
Ai no Idenshi it an mainly episodic series. I was personally impressed to see this series survive in a shounen magazine. it is a series aimed at adults tbh. its intelligent, the author knows a lot about the subject and it deals with quite a modern theme which is i would classify as mature.

Since you don't like harem it is pointless but
Eiken - it very ecchi and really absurd with breast size but i found it enjoyable because of the absurdity

BM Nectar is a WSC manga that i have heard of but haven't read it is a action horror stuff by the looks of it.

Well that's quite the surprise. I was feeling pretty certain this would be the next one to go. Either nothing is going to get axed for awhile or one of the other newer series may go before Chosokabe. Now that I think about some of the new series this year, Jinba had a pretty wild year. It premiered as a short series, must've received enough good feedback to get picked up for a full serialization pretty quickly, just to immediately flop hard and get axed all before the year ends. Truly a wild ride for that one lol

I've been doing this for other magazines and I forgot to do it for Champion, oops, so what are your expectations for the magazine in 2018? What would you like to see happen?

-I want to see BEASTARS grow in popularity and continue to run in the magazine, same for Rokudou no Onna-tachi.
-I want Mairimashita! Iruma-kun to survive and grow
-I hope more things get translated from this magazine
-Hopefully the magazine gets a new hit, or multiple ones

Speaking of Beastars, I blew through all 63 chapters in 2 days, and I had to force myself to go to bed the first day(it was 5:30 in the morning), that's how hooked I was on the series. There's so much about the series I love I don't even know where to begin. I think it might actually be one of my all-time favorite manga. Seriously, thank you guys for recommending Beastars to me. Gonna have to get hot Rokudou now. Really looking forward to it after Beastars.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head for my wishlist. I feel like with the array of awards Beastars recently received, it'll definitely start to take a considerable lead in sales over Rokudou, but I hope Rokudou continues to show some growth as well and doesn't get left too far behind. Both seem to be doing well right now and are in no danger of cancellation, but Beastars' upward trajectory is much steeper than Rokudou's at the moment.

I'm a bit nervous for Iruma, but lucky of it, there are some newer series with worse sales and older series that are preparing to end the year most likely. However, Champion could go on another axing spree like it did last year and try to do a large-scale clean-out. There was actually an issue where it ended 3 series at once! That being said, I think Iruma's safe for the time being as long as it doesn't experience any sharp declines in sales.

Atsumare also seems to be doing well, and I'd like it to continue doing so. It's simple and cute, making it a fun, quick read. Hopefully someone will begin translating Rororro since the visual gags look pretty funny. It'd be nice to see another romcom in this magazine as well

Welcome to the wild ride, I feel the same, it's also probably going to end up as an all time favorite for me as well.

Now this is a TOC that I can get behind! If you could squeeze Atsumare in between where Iruma and Bell are, that'd be everything I'm following all in a row with a pretty nice placement in the TOC. Himawari is definitely getting a nice push from the editors, similar to what they did when Iruma first came out. I haven't read any of it yet, but the premise seems interesting, so maybe I'll give it a look-through to see if I can follow what's going on. Not looking too good for the series under Gmen though. I guess we'll have to see if their volume 1 sales can save any of these newbies from their impending doom.

The title Shuukan Shonen Hachi reminds me a lot of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun.

Funnily enough Jitsu wa Watashi wa also started in the 9th Issue 5 Years ago. His art has changed quite a bit since then.

My hopes for the magazines
Significant change in the middle with older series ending which we hopefully give space for interesting new series by both new and old authors.

I wonder if that was done intentionally or not, pretty weird coincidence if this wasn't planned. I see a male and a female in the author's new work.... my romcom senses are tingling! Has that new baseball series been given a release date yet? I'd love to see some more anime adaptations and character popularity polls, especially from Rokudou and Beastars. Both have enough characters introduced where a popularity poll could reveal some interesting results.

I just looked up the last 2 Gmen volumes, and they both sold just under 5,000 copies before falling out of the viewing range. Iruma's first 2 volumes were above this by a couple hundred copies, so I think it should be fine for the time being. Otae, Shutsujin, and Great Old are going to have to be somewhat near where Gmen was in order to survive I'd say, but the odds really seemed stacked against these 3. What other old series besides Gmen do you think will end this year?

Shuujin Riku, Samejima, Saigo no Juugonichi and Dokaben Dream Tournament are all likely candidates to end in 2018.

The new baseball series since it is not shown in this issue. It means this new series round will have a second segment, that will most likely have 2 series also, will be announced in issue 9.

It probably will have romance but it seems like it will be about becoming a mangaka and the MC will be going to a manga school in this case Onigahama Manga Gakuen.
Gyakushuu Inferno description is quite vague so its not easy to get a sense of the story will be about but the author last series did place quite well until its volume 1 showed poor sales then it started to dip down the Toc.

Yowamushi Pedal - 20M copies in print.

Just reading Beastars right now, and damn, what an incredible series. The different themes it can explore because of the animal society are incredible, and I just can't say enough positive things about it. Honestly think it deserved to beat TPN in the Sugoi award. Hope this blows up and becomes massive.

Getting first place would've been amazing, but second place is better than nothing and I was personally pleasantly surprised, I was so happy because I knew it would get a boost in sales. I was truly shocked by how good the manga is when I got into it and I do consider it my favorite on-going shounen series for sure, it's like a drug. I also really hope it becomes more popular, it really deserves a lot of success, I hope the Kono Sugoi ranking it got will boost the sales so it at least sells 25k per volume for starters.
