Also, it seems that Gege Akitamis previous GIGA series is directly connected to Jujutsu Kaisen looking at the newest chapter. Not sure if this was previously known but with the 2 new Jump series being former Giga manga it makes me wanna pay more attention to the magazine when it comes and goes

I skimmed the raw but it seems to be a straightforward, "I'm going to become the Ryuuou!" type of manga. To be brief, the girl is the former disciple of the MC's genius older brother who passed away 2 years before. The MC is a failure with a demeaning nickname "Fallen Leaf" which contains a kanji in his name. She helps him find his own way of playing shogi and he changes the meaning of his name similar to how Deku changed his nickname's meaning. He becomes the girl's disciple at the end. Its an overall decent start.

Not bad, MC and main girl dynamic seemd to be very interesting (+points for averting the outcome of the walking into naked bathroom scene) may be the selling point here, looking forward for their interactions in the future

Art has improved a lot compared with chapter 1 from GIGA, and it looks way more interesting.

That's it. I'm totally rooting for this to become one of Jump new pillars together with Noah Notes.

MOMIJI is a pretty good start for a manga, would have preferred if the Silver Princess had been a Silver Prince as it seems the common theme in these new age sports series is to always have the prodigious femchar train the main character, and we never have a main male character duo going on...but otherwise very entertaining and enjoyable. LETS SURVIVE.

MOMIJI is a pretty good start for a manga, would have preferred if the Silver Princess had been a Silver Prince as it seems the common theme in these new age sports series is to always have the prodigious femchar train the main character, and we never have a main male character duo going on...but otherwise very entertaining and enjoyable. LETS SURVIVE.

Its simply possible that they want to diversify their audience instead of appealing straight to the hardcore female Jump fans. In addition, with this way, you can also make the female character the heroine, thus also "saving" a character.

Found the art in Momiji to be very solid, though the character designs were fairly weak. It was a decent first chapter, if a bit bland and cliche. I was thinking it was going to extend that shogi match into the next chapter, but thank god it didnt. Not a terrible start by any means.
