Not related but some of the HxH fans are sad for attacking that youtuber just because he didn't agree with HxH being a seinen disguised as a shonen.
As if shounen and seinen are genre lol

Shonen and seinen are not genres but he mentioned "shonen writing tropes", it all about sport and fighting shonens.
But HxH is moving away from many of these "shonen tropes".

I don't want to get too into it here but HxH embraces "shounen tropes". It simply goes further with them than most Jump shounen manga will go, thus making it seem like its turning away from them. Heck, the Gon/Killua relationship where Killua will do anything to help Gon is about as shounen as it gets. Its actually as much if not more so than Luffy going to go and get Robin back in Enies Lobby. Killua is basically insulted by Gon and he still goes to help him after he goes comatose. Leorio's whole speech during the election arc is as shounen as it gets as well. HxH combines this with other story elements like politics, a commentary on humanity (something that I feel has almost been overdone in fiction in general as its almost always the same conclusion but is still good here), etc. Huge parts of the Chimera ant arc fall back on those "shounen tropes" however like I said before, he goes further, almost uncomfortably so in some instances. The whole Gon-san thing is just a more destructive version of the rage powerup in DB, OP or pre-Kurama friendship Naruto. Togashi simply twisted the portrayal of Gon following Kite's fate ending up with the unsettling version we got. All this isn't bad and actually makes for the memorable and highly influential story we have now. Even series like Tokyo Ghoul and arguably Berserk fall back on "shounen tropes", but that's because they're good story elements.

Yonkou was talking about a quote from a manga/interview he read, I'm not sure where, that basically said (I'm paraphrasing here) that shounen manga have a common trope of "overcoming" the difficult situation they're in (i.e. Goku defeating Frieza in DB), and seinen have the trope of "learning to live within the problem" (i.e. Guts gaining new comrades and finding new meaning in his life after all his friends died and he and Casca went through trauma). I can't seem to find the original post where the talked about it and the mangaka he was quoting from like a month ago, but here's him explaining it today.

It obviously doesn't work ALL the time, but quite a lot of manga are like that. I mentioned that a lot of seinen are basically shounen but with more sex or gore.

Some people seemed to interpret it as him saying HXH wasn't like, good, or something? But he said he didn't mean being shounen was bad or anything. He meant that HXH is also an "overcome the problem, seize victory, defeat the enemy" type of story. Not that it's bad.

It's probably this.

Jujutsu getting on the cover in a spot that your eyes will naturally look. Nice.

Now that blindfold sensei is revealed to be a total bishie, I can see Jujutsu actually surviving, that was something the manga totally lacking

I've read a couple of chapters of Jujutsu and I do enjoy it. It's not spectacular in any sense. But there is certainly charm to it. The rigid drawings and cool action bits reminds me of early bleach.
The comedy is great, fight scenes are well done, the character chemistry is not forced in any manner. Definitely can see myself backing this one.

Yonkou just has stop responding to this shit, I get it it's hard, it's trolls on this site too, but people legit hold weight with his opinions when he says nothing different any of us would say. I won't ever be able to relate to what kind of abuse him or Heiji or even you might get on a daily basis, but it's the ones that live in their mother's basement who make memes and never know what they're talking about he argues with....

Regarding HxH and shonen/seinen, I think Togashi made a divisise move with what he did with Gon that arc. It cemented my dislike for Gon and like for Killua. But I feel that was the purpose, to make us feel wayward about everything that occured like with Kite, Pitou, Komugi. Tbh the demographic (except shoujo) shouldn't really matter but I'll always find it dumb as hell at those who say something is better cause it's darker or edgier.

Arguing over generalizing all manga into shonen or seinen seems like a weird use of time, further debating which fits hxh seems odd as well as what is the overall goal or objective for either side? No one, ever, changes sides in internet debates on manga.

Design wise none of those are really speaking to me, but i guess they could go under resdesign someday. How odd that 3 of them have pet's. Masked dude is the only one that makes me feel things.

Does twitter support even contribute to their success in anyway? I don't see how it matters.

Its definitely picking up speed on twitter and the part of the internet that talks about manga but these results are for the 87 people who used that hashtag by the time this poll ended. Its hardly conclusive of support. Fortunately, the volume comes out in 2 weeks so we can get some good data there. It seems to be doing well so far in preorders on amazon.
