In general there haven't even been many new sports manga that have been that popular, the latest most successful thing I can think of is the soccer manga Ao Ashi from Big Comic Spirits and it started in early 2015. Besides that there are also some sequels like Major 2nd and Diamond no Ace Act II.Can a standard sport even do well in current jump? There's already been a great example of pretty much every familiar sport that any new series will unavoidably be compared to, and many of them are still going even or have a very recent re-release.
I guess a racing manga would maybe be less likely to suffer from that? Jump's had racing manga before but I don't think any are current, and otherwise I think Initial D ended so there's not much big name competition elsewhere for it.
What I want is a Kabaddi manga with Prince of Tennis/Kuroko-esque semi-superpowers, there's a ton of potential in there fun crazy techniques.--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
Because of this I would say most publishers are probably trying to find a new big sports hit but it hasn't happened yet. Jump can't focus on sports series too much though.
