Well I am feeling mixed.

On one hand their arrival in Atlas and probably Ironwood informed the Soldiers.

Atlas looks so great

The Grimm part was stupid I didn't enjoy much.

Oh so Cinder and Neo are ready too.

And Salem is ready for action now.

Maybe the next volume will be the last volume.

Also not much action from Salem Faction.


I enjoyed the Salem Oz backstory Episode very much,but other than that the rest of the volume was meh.

Hope Team RWBY and Team JNPR does even greater next time along with Qrow and OZ.

Well, since the volume is over here are a few comments:

The first thing of note here is that the volume was a substantial improvement over volume 5. But that's not much of a compliment in general so I will go a tad further: The volume was fairly decent.

Story wise the volume did a good job telling a coherent story. We didn't have any of the asinine stuff we got in volume 5 at least. It's clear the writers made a bigger effort to make sure the story progressed in a logical way. I do feel like the story wasted precious minutes in stuff that otherwise did not add all that much. For instance, was there a point to having the bit with jaune's sister? I feel like the minutes we had of jaune's family did not really tell us anything new about jaune.

The volume's lowpoint was definitely the episode with phyrra's statue. As in, why? Jaune did get some manner of closure I suppose but... was that necessary? You'd think the closure would come after jaune had finished his unfinished business with cinder. In turn we had this closure when jaune will inevitably meet cinder again... It would have made more sense if this served to fuel his rage rather than give him closure. And its just weird that phyrra's mom is either a teleporter or dead. And then the bit with oscar just going shopping and not telling anyone.... It's just wasted minutes.

Anyways, there are things worth highlighting. I liked the bit at the abandoned village. The enemy being slow, weak and mostly harmless was a pretty good development. I also liked the implication that the village's people were just exposed to the grim so much that they simply stopped moving... and stayed in bed until they died.... probably of thirst or starvation. and we are talking about this getting so bad that they just allowed each other to die. Their loved ones, children....

The plan to get to atlas was actually pretty good as well. As in, it works within the context of the story. Given how communications work in this story there are some pretty big security flaws to consider. communication towers are extremely vulnerable in general and the gang could exploit this adequately. It is a bit strange that the military is so unequipped to deal with hunters though, specially considering that in atlas hunter schools and the military are heavily related. Maybe this can be reasonably explained by the forces gathered in atlas.

What did catch me off guard was all of the adam stuff. I wish there would have been more hints that he was around, lurking and waiting for a chance. He just kinda randomly appeared when the plot demanded it. I did like that the show had the balls to kill him like that. but at the same time I am disappointed that this is all there was to adam. I was kinda expected him to join salem tbh. Salem and her new work order seems like something he would be interested in after all of his ambitions got crushed.

I do genuinely hate that they destroyed blake's sword. I already took issue with.... literally every development she has had in volumes 4 and 5... And now they even destroyed her sword. Her fighting style was one of the best things about her. It's like they keep piling the shit when it comes to blake. I am all for character development but this just isn't the character we knew anymore. She has none of the things about her that used to be cool. I hope blake gets killed off. I'd rather she died that literally everything that has happened with her since volume 3 at least. Killing a character you don't know what to do with is perfectly acceptable.

As for the final battle, I have mixed feelings. On one hand I am disappointed that the gang was not specially relevant. You had swarms of grim and they did really little to deal with it. And calavera got off the hook for her incompetence all too easily. She was the one that caused the grim to appear with her xenophobic rant from a gundam. She let rwby go but I feel like that was more to cover her ass than genuine gratitude. Also, note the bit when the giant robot is raising her arm and screaming "this is your fault". And look at the robot's controls. It's just weird to think cordova was screaming that while intentionally raising her robot arm like that. It was nice see her last "your fault" with her expression telling us she knows its all her fault. But then again, that just plays weirdly with cordova getting off the hook this easily.

That said, I am not a fan of the lack of action the finale had but I am a fan of the way rwby's powers were presented. Her first try failed but we can clearly see why it failed. The first try had rwby focusing on her loved one's pain... But that simply isn't the trigger. And then of course the second try, where rwby focused on the people she cared about and it did work. It's a bit weird that weiss stopped her summon right in the grims face. You'd think it's back would have worked just as well but with significantly reduced risk. I do dislike the things they chose for rwby's flashbacks though. It reminds us of better volumes....

Using jinn like that is clever though. I am surprised it is a literal time stop, I thought it was more like something they experience in their minds.

I might comment more later.

Ok, more comments now, sooner than I thought at least.

Cordova after killing the giant grim just took off to the grim swarm... Why? The robot is completely useless against small mobile targets.

As for oscar and ozpin... I have a theory. What if ozpin isn't mere hiding? What if the fusion process of the souls is merely advancing? But this time in a way in which oscar remains the dominant personality.

So, I was looking back on the volume and thought of something... just what is salem's goal? before volume 6 our assumption would have been that she wanted to destroy humanity basically. But seeing her past it is fairly clear she does not in fact want to destroy humanity. Her first main goal was to revive ozma. Then when he returned she had changed... and apparently wanted power, to rule. with this context we know for a fact that salem is not in fact an existential threat to humanity. her goal of ruling of course is reprehensible but by far less a problem than if her goal was to destroy humanity. heck, if she wanted humanity gone then she could have simply prevented it from flourishing all those ages ago when it returned.

Now, if salem's goal is not to destroy humanity... then why did everyone seem to think so? I blame ozpin. Of course, there was misleading stuff regarding this but ultimately this idea seems to originate from ozpin. Who is fixated on salem in spite of the simple fact that she isn't even all that relevant in the grand scheme of things. As in, the big picture here is that the gods present an existential threat to humanity and ozpin needs to have humanity pick up its shit in order to survive the god's judgement.

And looking back to volume 5... ozpin told the gang that he was cursed due to his failure to deal with salem. which was clearly a lie, he agreed to return to the world out of his own free will.

so in that sense... everything is ozpin's fault. Rather than getting humanity to get its shit together ozpin has been fighting this nigh irrelevant fight with salem. Sure, salem controls grim and that is a problem but alternatively we know humanity has the means to deal with grim.

And then salem wanting the relics.... For all we know she doesn't even want to use them. She might simply not want ozpin to use them to summon the gods. The relics are sentient apparently, at least jin is, for all we know they might straight up refuse to serve salem.

And of course the end of the volume.... Salem is gathering a grim army but.... Why? does it make sense for her to want to destroy human settlements? It really doesn't. Maybe her plan and reasoning is something along the lines of her being willing to destroy larger cities in order to get the relics. the destruction isn't an end, its the means. And of course, humanity is resilient enough to survive all of its main settlements getting destroyed. If we consider it returned from literal extinction.


so.... the entire plot right now is ozpin being a jackass.

Decent final episode.
I will overlook the barrier blunder. It was kinda funny cuz how bad it was.
RWBY going SE on godzilla was probably the most notable moment, a bit cringe but ok imo. The funny part for me was that Ruby's flashbacks were drawn images, rather than 3D animated scenes (the most funny pic being Blake with the RWBY flag ). On the other hand the Summer part was actually pretty cool. That part and Casey's music saved the moment for me. Cordovin with the Tengen Toppa drill was cool, but her comeback was pure cringe. The team going to Solitas and finally reaching Atlas was a pretty dope moment. Atlas with that Empire-esk military might is hype. The city of Atlas is also hype, but i can already see it crashing down in Volume 7 or 8. Bumblebee ... well i myself dont care, but im glad it makes people happy, its cool Couldnt care less about Cinder, she needs to take another L. I hope Neo gives her that L, after a Ruby speech or two. Salem going a bit Thanos "Fine, I'll do it myself" in the last scene .... was ok. I only hope she doesnt take an L after that. Volume 7 and 8 need to be the villains time to shine. All in all, cant wait for Volume 7, cuz now its all about Atlas and the Schnee family

Well overall i enjoyed Volume 6. It was decent. Need to rewatch it again like every season before, to give my final verdict where it stands on my Volume rankings, but currently its:

1. Volume 3 --> still killing it, literally
2. Volume 2
3. Volume 6
4. Volume 4 or 1
5. Volume 4 or 1
6. Volume 5 --> yeah, after rewatching it, it really was a franchise low point for me even though Weiss was best girl all day every day the cons beat the pros

Volume 6 Pros

• The fights thankfully improved
• Oz - Salem story
• Lore expansion
• Maria is actually a decent add
• The Farm Horror Story
• Ruby Silver Eye developement
• The Music is awesome .... as always #CaseyLeeWilliamsFTW
• Adam resolution ... finally, cuz he was trash level after Volume 5
• The Fight was pretty cool
• Yay Pacific Rim
• Fight against giant mech, cool
• Stealing a ship to Atlas, decent plan
• The baby laughing at Jaune's plan ... probably the funniest part of the Volume for me
• ... hm im not sure what to think about the Red Haired Woman and Pyrrha, but i'll give it a pass, i hope thats the final resolution
• what else ...
• Neo coming back ...
• anything else ... hm
• oh yeah ... Weiss still best all day every day

Volume 6 Cons

• Cinder plot meh
• Qrow taking constant L's ... im freaking tired of this shit
• Yang being stupid in the early episodes

• Goofy stupid anime faces ... though i took that as a homage to the early Volumes
• not sure what else ....

• well there are cons to be found after my second rewatch ...

Qrow had death flags since the moment of his introduction I'm honestly surprised that he made it through three Volumes.

I always thought that his death will be used to develop Ruby that so far is the only one that didn't break at any point.

I think he's based on a scarecrow that was torn apart by Flying monkeys ( Guess what we saw in a post-credit scene ).

He and Ironwood may die in next Volume.
