I'm not part of the YGO community, but yeah, seems so. Blame a reportedly very strained production that lead to endless clip shows and reused footage.

If the V is from Video Games, why are DBS and Boruto there?
Who knows. But if you look at the titles that were on the magazine in the past, you'll see that this argument don't make too much sense considering that not everything is like that. lol

I hope Vrains get a manga eventually
it would suck for collectors not to have an entire part in manga form

and this is V-jump, they gave Ace Attorney train arc (which is an anime fillers and not in the games) a manga, they let anything run

I feel like the only underlying pattern with V-Jump is that everything in it is purely made for the purpose of marketing.

I feel like if Samurai 8 was going to be monthly, it would have started monthly. I don't see the benefit of doing a handful of weekly chapters before transitioning to a different schedule.
It makes a lot of sense actually. Gets the foundations laid out asap rather than spending 6 months on slow chapters. Not to mention the first few chapters would’ve been completed pre-serialisation anyway, so not much skin off their nose. The fact all of its chapters so far have been longer than normal is a pretty good sign they’re trying to get it up on its own two feet quickly.

Whether it does actually go monthly is a different matter though. I hope it doesn’t simply because monthlies are damn slow, but also because he got a new artist solely for this in the first place.

Too bad that artist seems to be blind in one eye, because his line clarity is horrendous.

Thought most everybody and their grandmas nieces and nephews assumed Boruto was just a temporary monthly thing in WEEKLY shonen jump...
Considering that some manga series run monthly in a weekly magazine for their entire duration from start to finish and that bi-weekly series in a weekly magazine are also not unheard of: no, it was entirely possible that Boruto would always stay as a monthly manga in Weekly Jump.

Let's face facts, Boruto moving is a clear attempt at damage control over the manga's horrendous decline in sales.

I doubt moving to V-Jump will do much damage control as I doubt it will be beneficial to sales. But sure, they probably want it off their back for various reasons.

Also: yes, like Dragon Ball Super, Boruto should've just started in V-Jump, I agree.

Which opens up the big question, why on Earth was this even a thing? Boruto added nothing to the magazine, it was barely there due to the monthly schedule, and from the beginning it felt unfitting. Did Shueisha genuinely think the series had a shot at being a big individual property, even with the "sequal to Naruto" factor hanging over it?

Also, since Boruto is leaving and not increasing in schedule (which, for reference, was never going to happen), there goes the idea it was "replacing" Soma. Time to return to speculating what's happening after it's gone.

Thinking about how the Volume date was scheduled for October, was it? There's the possibility of the big announcement to be an epilogue for the series there. It would be kind of rushed to do in the chapters we have left if they want to give a proper ending for a series which last arc has been awful. At least give it a chance.

Didn't Kishi say early on that the Bort manga was a thing mainly so his assistant could finally sort-of have their own manga?

I remember him talking about it, where it was maybe a bit late for them to suddenly start doing their own manga but he could at least give them the opportunity of a spin-off so they can have at least some sort of personal legacy in the industry.

So Boruto ran in Jump because...nepotism?

I mean, I imagine jump wanted a Naruto-related manga still around so they still had something new to promote with Naruto's legacy but that's a decent sized part of it too. Kishi doesn't seem the type who would've been happy to have just anyone do a sequel manga.

I do kinda remember that bit.

Also found this:

What is your working relationship with Kodachi-sensei like? How do you get in touch?

We don't get in touch much at all, actually. We don't even email. We met for the first time in a year today.

Do you just meet at meetings?

We don't do meetings either. Our editor relays all the messages between us. All the meetings I have are just with my editor.

So you don't have input in the direction of the story?

I talk with my editor directly about it. When it comes to the finer details, I'm usually given free reign over how to depict things. I draw the name (manga draft), and Kodachi-sensei checks it. If there's an issue, it will get relayed to me. If not, then I go ahead with it. Things work out quicker that way.

-- --

Not sure if that's normal for a writer/artist duo like that. Maybe.

If I recall correctly, Obata and Ohba work roughly the same way (though, Ohba also draws own nemu drafts), Inagaki and Boichi too. I think it is rather normal, yes.

Well, seeing how Tsukuda wasn't rushing the semifinals, neither the finals, isn't much of a surprise, now i wonder if will be one or three chapters, 3 more chapters each one with 40+ pages would be perfect to end the manga.

With all this in mind, I wonder how Ikemoto feels, knowing that the series he was given by Kishi himself was judged as ultimately not being good enough to run in the main magazine.
