I remember reading a translated interview on "The Fairy's Tales" Tumblr that no one Mashima heard from was buying into his death scenes anymore, so I assume that was a cross-continentally-shared sentiment.
You sure? In another interview, Mashima said when he tried to kill someone, they had 'big reactions' which made him not go through with it and why he doesn't do killings as much he used to in Fairy Tail. Pretty sure, Japan sees things differently on their side.
Most of the hate came from Western fans,i doubt Japan has problems with it because countless series are commercially successful there where characters die left and right.

Don't be biased. There were deaths in series. You don't have to kill main characters or even side to get point across on stakes. FT issue though it lost some due to certain arcs that even help out the 'victims' bit much to feel that at all.

Overall, not much on all of them. Last time I check, Fairy Tail sold 60 million+ during final arc it was doing. Probably gotten bigger now especially 100 Year Quest. Issues or not, Fairy Tail will go down in history as one of best selling alive which can't be denied due to constant sales and popularity.

If they love Dragon Ball where basically no one will ever die and no stakes, Fairy Tail won't have issues much. Death in a series doesn't always mean it can make a series impactful as Akame Ga Kill couldn't do that much. You need more than that to be successful series nowadays as it need 'special' something about it to make it pop.

Nah, I research. Overall sales, not talking about weekly. Overall it has surpassed a lot of them already. A series doesn't need to be 100 million to be popular and selling greatly. Most of series you mention are under that. Though still sold a big feat for itself that most series it has surpassed on.No you probably have wrong information FT even with its sequel (haven't surpassed all those i mentioned).
Kenshin is closest to FT(it has sold 70 Million)
But FT is still sitting at 60 Million original+sequel still below 1 million.
Also note all of those series i mentioned except JoJo had far less volumes than FT.

We don't have all factors in yet especially on the final arc as 60 million+ was states before or when final arc was about to start, not after it
who told you this list is weekly?this is the list of overall/lifetime sales of all those series worldwide(including Japan).Ft original sold 60 Million copies and the sequel has sold around 118188-111463 copies,total around 60 million and 2 hundred thousand.It has certainly not surpassed any of those series i mentioned,yet.

Ya Igneel and Mavis. Except for Igneel I never felt anything about death of others because Mashima will always bring them back with some ass-pull. If so he should never have done these fake deaths. Naruto also had this. Deaths were not the main problem in that Final Arc, It's was the fights most of them except few. He destroyed the hypes that he has given the to the enemy with ass-pulls and PIS. He shouldn't have created these OP villians if he can't deal with them logically.
Not really. Final arc is just bad final arc like rest of most series. That one from how it sounds was more put of his control with Japan's audience and who know editors were. Naruto fights were BS though on what I heard as well deaths on character who died abd one who shouldn't.
