I think that with the data we have, we can't measure the influence of an editor on the success of a manga in general, we have specific examples but it may not reflect what is done in general.
Editor can't draw instead of the mangaka, they can't write the story, nor do the designs or paneling, but they can give their opinion, suggestions or ideas that the author is free to use or not.

If anyone reads Dricam on MangaPlus, the mangaka has announced it will stay as Web exclusive (no tankobons), and is scheduled to have a final chapter at the end of this year (around 90 chapters overall, currently on Chapter 57)

I don't know exactly how much influence editors have, but I do think it's weird mangaka are axed left and right but Editors seemingly have tenure.

Do we know of any editors that actually get fired if they're attached to too many axed series?

Guys also an very important topic about higuma, friend of mine bought me vol 1 & 2 and there was suppose to be 2 new excorsists. if the characters was shown between the story half way it would keep being so interesting and prob getting avoided being axed. whats wrong with the editor?, was it an uninexperience editor?. all the writer needed was good leading. whatever.... its too late to keep talking about it

Just like any company, the amount of "success" an editor has is directly tied to their performance evaluation and future promotion. Personally, editors who struggle to launch new series are a bigger problem than editors with lot of series under their belt but with high axe count.

Also, mangaka are free to request an editor change if they think their editor is a liability.

Huh...never read Dricam, actually. Anyone know if it's any good?

What exactly marks an editors performance?

I find it a fun little series. I keep forgetting to read it (since it's the only series I follow with 2 chapters a week) so I read multiple chapters at once so that might work better.

You are more than welcome to leave.
It's like reading a long running series in Weekly Shonen Jump. It may become horribly painful but you can't just stop reading. Plus sometimes a good chapter comes along every once in a while or a new character is introduced that isn't as terrible as all the other new attempts and it makes you feel like you can brace the pain for just a liiiitle biiit longer.

Basically I'm stuck here whether I like it or not :).

Also, Buranchi is a great mod. Props to him for trying to clean up the place.
It's a thankless job but someone's got to do it.

Welp, Beast Children is dead. Everyone pack up, folks.

Samurai 8 is getting an LCP at Chapter 12!? That's gotta be a new record, right?

Ooo, Murata One-Shot. Nice.

Not even close, Toriko got another one in chapter 2, 6 and cover + lead cp for chapter 12

So Shinobi Squad is also struggling but it could have more chances of surviving than Children and Taisei.

Jujutsu in the top looks nice and it´s sad to see Zumou end but it had a great run, hope it gets a kinda-epilogue in Giga or Jump+

Come on Japan, do you even like anything at all? at least it was the best first ranking excluding Samurai 8, and talking about it, come on Nakano, give it a cover too instead of just a lead cp -_-

Well, so Hinomaru Zumou ended, great journey, it was a really great manga and i wish the best for Kawada, curious to see what he will do now, i think that Jump will want to keep him around and the next time with a more "mainstream" manga.

Poor Beast Children, it got even worse than Saiyuki? Jesus...

Seems like the new batch won't be until after Obon then.
