I'd say it's gonna be an exception for, maybe, well-known authors, and maybe we could expect to get F-Ken next week since it's by AssClass mangaka, but I don't think they'll care way too much about rookies or contest entries. Hope I'm wrong tho.

I mean, if his name comes up, people are inevitably going to discuss his previous work out of curiosity, and from there the fact that he insulted Jump mangaka will come up well. It's basically become more known than his work. Kinda sad, in a way.

I know the probabilities are slim, but it would be awesome to been able to read the GFC entries with this new spot that has Mangaplus.

Of course, as RafGL said, its probably an exception to Murata one shot but still could be a nice move to been able to read the one shot that possibly can be converted in a series in the future.

Viz used to do something similar prior to M+ existence. You could request which series you wanted them to translate. M+ is significantly better.

Volume 1 of Spy x Family is getting two urgent reprints going directly to bookstores. One in 8/9 and the other 8/21.
Also volumes 1 and 2 of Chainsaw Man are getting urgent reprints going directly to bookstores on 8/21.

Pretty surprised to see DT the highest of the 5 struggling newbies. If it can somehow turn things around, I'd say that'd be the most surprising survival I could imagine. Speaking of that, what was the most surprising survival story of a new series you guys can think of? For me, Act-Age's survival seeming to defy the odds, especially during that period where it sunk to the bottom

Act-Age could have easily ended along with Bozebeats, probably that.
Also Sket Dance. Majority of the newbies that pulled through either went around the middle to Bottom 5 (Chainsaw-man, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kimetsu no Yaiba) or they did well outright.

I wouldn't be surprised if Double taisei survived, we have several examples of manga that started at botton and then got better over time.

A pity that Mangaplus only releases oneshots of known authors. We have had oneshots by rookies in last 2-3 issues but no news about these oneshots, that also have options to become full series in the future.

For example, there was an oneshot the issue before WNL chapter 1 that almost nobody noticed because it was by a rookie. Then one year and half later we know that oneshot was Act-age chapter 0.

Maybe one day. I’d imagine translating manga in general is exactly the most profitable business, and they’re already translating damn near the whole magazine. I guess maybe they don’t consider One Shots a major priority

To be fair I bet most people wouldn't bother reading them unless it's from a mangaka they like. It's not like these one-shots ever get translated by the groups that have Jump to fanscan the series either and looking aside from places like here that are closely following Jump I only ever hear people talk about "Kubo's oneshot" or "Matsui's" or "Komi's" etc

I don't have any expectations for Double Taisei, getting placed ahead of Yui Kamio once doesn't mean anything, all of the bottom five series seem to be flops so it doesn't matter what order they get placed in. Of course, we'd need to wait for sales to say anything definitive, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Looks like Viz is also doing Science vs Magic so it's probably just business as usual (they've done one-shots from popular mangaka before such as Burn the Witch, Hot and a couple from Komi) and Manga+ is just hosting the translations Viz did anyway
