That was a sad ending for Saiyuki, so much potential, maybe if the author didn't drag things so much, 11 chapters and the characters were still in the same house when they were supposed to be in a "journey" lol what could possibly go wrong?

Wishing the best for the author and please don't take another 6 years to return.

There are a lot of journey manga that get canceled.

demon plan and mitsuboki condor so there to prove it.
The Japanese did not accept the manga which is a pity, now is to see the next wave.

Thats not the point, the point is that the mangas was too slow and the author dragged things, a adventure manga about the main characters in a journey but it takes like 11 chapters just to leave the house? Of course the readers would get bored.

Yup. Spending three chapters on the first scenario, and another three on helping a character who didn't seem relevant (the plan per the final chapter was clearly to bring him back as a party member, but that was in no way hinted at) didn't help. Unfortunately, the extremely slow start killed whatever interest the series could've had.

In other notes relevant to yesterday's convo, this weeks chapter basically validates the estimates I gave regarding WNL.

there are cases and there are cases, I know the beginning of saiyuki was slow but he is not the only manga to suffer this problem.
world trigger for example, it took a long time to deliver the plot of the manga and until today we saw nothing of neiborghood.

But finally saiyuki was canceled, now it is hoping that the new lot is not as weak as the samurai 8.

True, this was a very good chapter.

Although the 'rage' that Kei needs is going to have a pretty obvious origin if you know her past.
Well, her dad was already mentioned once this arc, so I've been expecting him to come up sooner rather than later.

But World Trigger was a better manga from the start and despite having a slow start still had action and it wasn't locked in the same scenario for so much time, so isn't really a good comparison.

Sorry but in the same scenario yes, I love world trigger and agree that he is better, but he has not advanced so much in history.

But this because Daisuke's health problems, and the neighbor stuff, now the manga is more than well stabilished and with a very loyal fanbase, so Daisuke can do this, while Saiyuki's author did that in the first chapters when he sas supposed to create a fanbase.

Alright, I'm not going to use world trigger anymore, instead I'm going to use samurai 8, which just like saiyuki doesn't get out of place either and he's much worse because he's a space opera, and it also took 11 chapters to get something interesting.
But as it is kishimoto we have to have patience because he is the creator of Naruto and he is always correct.

No, it took 7 chapters to get good and now is faaar superior than Sayuki, and how it doesnt get out of the place? In 3 chapters the mc already start his journey training, fighting, meeting new characters and etc.

I dont know what kind of grudge you have against Samurai 8 but isnt Kishi' fault if Sayuki's author wasn't competent enough to write something good enough, S8 started slow but picked up fast and now is really good while Saiyuki died fast.

It's not a grudge with kishimoto, I know that samurai 8 has had an improvement in these last chapters, but I can't lie, I didn't like the first chapters, which were bad and hard to read, the art was so polluted that it was hardly possible to differentiate In this scenario, I prefer the unique scenery of saiyuki a thousand times than the visual pollution of samurai 8.
I was not the only one who criticized samurai 8, other people had the same opinion as mine.

but as I said before, I don't want to extend myself in this conversation about saiyuki, the manga has already been canceled now is going to another one.

Maybe it's just a pet peeve because of the war on Naruto.

That's subjective, i read the first chapter of Samurai 8 on my phone that doesn't even have that much of a big screen and didn't find anything much complicated to understand about the art, i just paid more attention in the pages instead of reading everything fast, and i liked the manga since the beginning, of course some of the first chapters were just okay but right now is really good and you can ser with the constant praising.

As an avid supporter of The Last Saiyuki the entire run, I have to say; that last chapter, especially that one particular panel, makes me genuinely upset that the series was cancelled. Say what you want about the pacing of the beginning, but the series was running towards being a modern classic if it had been given the time. I feel like a lot of people might regret not giving it a chance.

I don't think people will regret not giving Saiyuki a chance. In any case, only people who enjoy Saiyuki would regret other people don't give it a chance.

That said, Saiyuki has chances, but it never reach enough audience.

Really solid character development in the beginning

I'd say they occasionally are, but I feel like compared to the other weekly shonen magazines, I feel like they're probably less experimental than them. Act-Age was a pretty bold move that managed to pay off, but at the same time, Alice to Taiyou wasn't as lucky. I don't know if I'd go as far as to say that it's experimental, but it seems a bit grittier than most of their recent serializations.
