I...Is that Double Taisei cover literally just a copy-paste of the Chapter 1 LCP? That's...pretty goddamn lazy.

The buckle on Tai's (the one in white I can never remember which is which) shirt switches sides and looks different so unless the author randomly redrew that part it does seem like it's technically not the exact same just stupidly close.

I'll be clowned on for this since it's just the first chapter, but Yozakura Family really feels like to me that it's the next series to have "it". The first chapter, excluding maybe one page where I feel like something was skipped over a bit, was basically perfect to me. The art and character designs are to die for.

Someone pointed out in Discord that the Stone cover is also the same one from a Jump issue. So it's not only Taisei doing it.

I don't think it's bad doing this, if they leave some free time to the mangaka, I'm fine with it. David did the same too.

At least Stone is using an issue cover image which likely would only ever be reprinted in artbooks. Taisei's cover is literally the first image you see when you actually start reading the thing.

I know it’s different, but this is actually pretty common in the West comic industry.

Usually the first Volume covers is just the cover art for one of the issues within the volume.

Double Taisei's really not doing itself any favors with a cover like that. It needed every single thing to try to attract readers that it could get, but this cover definitely doesn't want to make me read this. Honestly, if I just saw this cover on a bookshelf without knowing anything about the series, I'd just assume it was some sort of strange yaoi series and pass it up lol

This is hard to guess because part of the answer to this question is always "when Togashi feels like it." Even if a bunch of series get axed, it won't matter much if he's not ready to draw 10 chapters yet.

If the Togashi stars do align, though, there's like... 4 to 6 manga that might conclude / get axed by the end of this year? So it's not like HxH will have a shortage of opportunities to come back.

My guess is about the beginning of 2020. And that we won't see more series axes until October at the earliest.

I was gonna wait till spoiler embargo was over to talk about that, but yeah. Beast Children is either wrapping up, or the mangaka is so worried it's getting cancelled that he's rushing to make certain things happen before it ends. But if it does end, I think the last chapter won't hit till October. Gives the climax 4-8 chapters to play out.

Right now, I think the mangaka's been told that Beast Children has its head in the guillotine, but the axe hasn't fallen yet. Volume 1 sales are its last chance to stay alive. Unfortunately, I don't foresee those doing so hot, so this arc is likely the beginning of the end.

Uh, Nisekoi is a harem since the first chapters. lol Like any other romcom on WSJ, the romantic interests appears in like the first 20 chapters.

And if anything, being a harem is what made Nisekoi a huge success, not the contrary. õ_o If I remember correctly, it became the most successful romcom on wsj and one of the biggest out there as well for the industry.

Spy x Family and Kaguya-sama have very recently proved that a romance doesn't have to be a harem to draw in an audience. I think Yozakura will be safe.

It's not a romcom per se, so of course in that matter it won't have a harem like it happens in the actual romcom from wsj.

Technically, the character who appear in this cover along Yui is part of the shift to horror / action.

Spy x Family isn't really focused on romance, and Kaguya is a seinen though, but Magico was a shonen jump series that started with the leads getting married and did okay, did that turn into a harem?

No, MC only had one love interest.

Although Yozakura seems focus in romance a lot more than Spy x Family, it seems to be other things in the story of Yozakura.
