Got this from 4chan. Look like current gap is 500k

Wait, it doesn't include Dec 2018? OP volume 91 dropped then so the gap is much larger, right? That should mean the gap is ~2.5M.

About fujoshi, this doesn't apply to all, but most otakh whales are fujoshi. For anyone who don't know, whale is the term for people who spend huge amount of money compare to the rest of customer base (like in a gacha game or mmo). So those whales, despite not being big in number, have extremely strong spending power.
Someone mentioned manga like Ao no Exorcist, KnB and SnK above. They all share a somewhat similar pattern with KnY, got famous for anime adaptation and got huge manga sales afterward. Another similarity is, you get it, the fujo exploiting potential.

Hell, I bet reborn survived that long all due to those fujobux.

we on the west focus more on the male side.
More like never care about female side.
I haven't seen a single thread in this board about female-oriented magazines yet.

Wotakoi is a josei work though.

But, let's not put fujoshi and otaku girls on the same thing, because they aren't. People in the west seems to think that they aren't the same thing but all fujoshi are otaku but not all girl otaku are fujoshi. And yes, the female public is one of the biggest, not only today but since ever, with the last decades being even more evident.

There's a reason for why shoujo and josei exists, why female imprints for Light Novel exists, for why anime adaptations of games, manga and novels exists, etc. It's a big market that here we don't look to much as we on the west focus more on the male side.

It's even more funny because female otaku are pretty much ignored in discussions about jp products in the internet in general as if they don't exist, as the stereotype of otaku is the male NEET and whatsoever, even when they are a big public or at the very least, as bigger as the male one. Hell, in comiket there's a huge number of female otaku and they even have their own day. But most of this is never commented because there's this impression that otaku are like 90% men when the reality couldn't be more untrue. Not only for otaku in general as there's many idol otaku for male and female groups but for anime/manga/LN/gaming otaku.
I wouldn't say the female audience is bigger than the male audience for anime.

I mean, there is a reason why anime directed toward women are a smaller amount compared to anime directed toward men. I usually see all the animes each season, I can confirm these are minority in comparison.

It seems common thar some shoujo manga are adapted to live action.

However, the idea of female otakus being almost inexistent is pretty ridiculous. As you mentioned, there are shoujo and josei magazines.

Oh, I didn't mean that. Just that it's a sizeable part of otaku culture in general. And of course, it'll depend on the series if there's more or less female public.

I understand.

In recent years it does not show much, but there have been times when some shoujo have really had big sales.

I remember there was a year that Kimi ni Todoke was the third best seller manga (only beaten by Naruto and One Piece).

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Nana was the best seller manga in 2005 (it beat One Piece).

It feels so odd that we still don't know any stuff about the cover of issue 49.

Yuuna-san, I'm still betting on you

It says HQ is entering new chapter so looks like it is not ending
Tbh I recall that when Shokugeki entered in the Blue Arc, they announced it like it was entering in a new chapter. Not sure at all since I don't remember it well.

Anyways I'm interested in seeing if Haikyuu lasts just 3-4 years or has planned to join the club of the 700 chapters titles, with Naruto, Bleach, and Toriko

My Hero Academia will be on break next week
Issue 45: I recall MHA
Issue 46: One Piece
Issue 47: Haikyuu
Issue 48: Neverland
Issue 49: MHA

Since is obvious One Piece is getting a break in issue 50, what title will be getting the break in issue 51? Betting on Black Clover

It'll be funny if KnY catches up to MHA after the movie is released.
I mean MHA is at 24 million prints right now. Unless it becomes as big as AoT or OP at their peak, with 17/18 volumes, I just couldn't see it happen...
