@Ryuusei thanks a lot this is so interesting :D could you pleaes provide source? also what does it all mean? It means that for Shonen Sunday Ranma, H2 and other manga I don't understand the Kanjis for also had at some point a 1 million printing per volume?

Could anyone be so kind as to translate the rest of the series' names in this list, pretty please?

Just to point out, the "they don't make long running anymore" isn't true, there's plenty of long running animes or at least "50ish" animes being produced everytime on Japan, is just happen to most of them be more oriented to kids and most of them have pretty good production, look at Pokemon, being produced non stop since forever and each season gets better animation than the last one, we could pick Boruto that is by Pierrot and produced for almost 3 years and have better animation than most part of the seasonal hyped series, is just the case of having a good staff and schedule, the real problem is that the studios who are more willing to adapt darker and violent series like JJK are Pierrot and Toei, so the chances of having a average production is high, but i would love to see JJK having a long running anime, or at least something like Diamond no Ace that is already on the third "50+ episodes" season", but not gonna happen anyway.

I don't know japanese, so I can't translate the rest, but for sunday it's Conan, Ranma, Inuyasha, H2 and Silver Spoon. Weird, I thought Touch would be on that list.

How Kuroko no Basket had a initial print of 1 million and Haikyuu that literally had a volume with 1 million of copies sold on Oricon yearly sales didn't have? doesn't make any sense.

Nah, Toei doesn't work on violent series for quite sometime, I don't even remember the last time they worked on such thing. And the last new adaptation they pick was like in 5 years ago, since then they've been doing original series or working on anime that are already a staple to them like One Piece, Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon and so on. In these days some of those aren't even animated by them, with Toei Animation only being on the production side like with Saintia Sho which was animated by Saintia Sho (which had only Toei on the committee btw) and also the new Digimon movie, which is animated by Yumeta Company with Toei Animation also on the production, but here since it's a movie, Toei (the actual one, not animation) and other companies are probably on production and committee as well.

But good point overall tho. People forget that tons of anime are long-running series outside of the seasonal ones (and even some on the seasonal are). Like you say, most of those are kids anime so many are ignored even though the production of those anime still exists. Aikatsu, Precure, Pripara, Yokai Watch, Gegege no Kitaro, Pokémon and many more out there are like this.

The Rakuten ebook listing feels suspicious too, how is Mahouka Koukou so low when it is consistently the best written LN. Shield Hero is also really low considering this year it had its anime. It should easily be in the top 10 considering the anime was incredibly popular and MADKID are exceptional.

BLeach being there is odd as well as YowaPeda and beating out Owari no Serafu??? I dont get it.

BLack Clover at least being there is pleasing, but then I can't imagine it is really that low when we know it brings in incredible profits. Perhaps KOBO is just such a small part of the market that they are only looking at trends among a niche crowd. Only way to accept the data.
Rakuten, the Amazon of Japan, is a niche site now huh.

Fortunately sales matter more than initial print run, total selling is always better than fastest out of the gate, slow and steady wins the race as they say.

Oishinbo must have been super popular back when it had its anime running, I mean I don't even think its volumes rank top 10 anymore when they get released or do they??

For some reason Ao No Exorcist just kinda feels like an outlier lol, no hate to the series or anything... It's just idk haha

In hindsight Ao No Exorcist was kinda in the same situation Yaiba is in right now, got a super popular anime and got super popular pretty fast.. but the second season took to much time, and it lost most of its popularity (? I think? I don't really follow its sales)

Still big enough, selling over 350k (total) after 10 years of serialization.

Wait a minute...Saint Seiya was a million seller, and yet Jump still had it canceled against Kuramada's will? The hell was up with the standards of the Golden Age?

Yu-gi-oh series, Detective conan, Gundams series, Duel master and lots of toys related anime like Bayblade etc. Long-running anime had a huge titles than Seasonal anime but the problem is they were made for kids so we can agree now who does make more profitable right?

20 million was for comics only, 25 million is for the series' total (comics, light novels, digitals, fanbook).
No. 20 millions was also for serie.

Btw :

12 000 000 numbers (29/09) was Worldwide numbers. So, normaly 25 000 000 numbers include also worlwide numbers.

Huh, that makes a bit more sense. Kimetsu's anime got everyone talking worldwide on a scale I haven't seen in years. So it makes sense that at least one or two million would be added from all the overseas demand.

Hm, that ad had "comics" written in it so I thought that would be it, but you're trustworthy for this matter and if you're saying so, then it's series.
